Going on my eleventh season with my Hardin-Marine Gen 7 pump, no complaints here...

Well I bought one two years ago put roughly 112 hours on it.. Headed out two weeks ago and my guardian on my Mercruiser kicked in and my boat powered down I got an alert on my vessel view that my exhaust manifold were overheating.. So I ordered the plate, gasket and new impeller.. Replaced the impeller new back plate with gaskets and the unit still leaks.. I just ordered the OEM water pump assembly for $445.00 going to throw that back on..
Frustrated to say the least.. Spent almost double for the Hardin water pump and didn't even last two years.

I even called and talked to someone at Hardin marine and they didn't seem too interested and making things right using cheap Chinese junk inside of American-made product yeah that's really smart

That's exactly what happened to mine there wasn't nothing wrong with the impeller but the internals on that stainless pump was shot can nothing it just poured out there was no thing recognizable except for the shaft

I use the replacement plate and gasket on the original sea pump and works great. Tight fit but it fit and works great. Just don't get the insert. That will not work.

I ran the SS Hardin pump for 200 hours over 3 years in fresh water and started leaking (zero sand ingestion, wear plates looked almost new). Bearings and seal are shot. Great idea with the wear plates but worthless with bad quality bearings. Not impressed Hardin Marine!

      Gen 7?

@@mikedodd9294 they warrantied it and it happened again. Then they sent me one with a new pulley and has been good for a season.

@@joshvandermolen5987 Was it a Gen 7 Plus with the 40% larger bearings and snap rings or an earlier design? Are they thinking the old pulley was unbalanced or bent causing bearing/seal wear? Our local mechanics recommend the Hardin pump over the Mercury ones.

@@mikedodd9294 I'm not certain on the gen. I think they damaged the shaft when they pressed on the pulley. Or it was out of balance. It does turn true now whereas the old one had a very slight wobble. They should only sell them with the pulley IMO.

This is for marine engines only. It is not for use on truck or automotive engines.

too bad the seals and bearings are junk which is more often the issue than wearing out the pump
