    Just FYI - on one of my devices (old laptop, Windows 10) I have a problem with volume on this and several other youtube channels; on my (also fairly elderly) android tablet, volume is absolutely _fine_ on everything.

    • @RainbowLane
      @RainbowLane  ปีที่แล้ว

      Many thanks for that - I really appreciate you taking time to let me know. It is hard to explain to people that the volume is perfectly fine on all my devices and so I cannot explain why it is low for certain people - so this is really helpful. Thanks so much for watching too.🙏💕

    Beautiful work, thank you for giving warnings about alcohol inks can be very bad for health. Good you mentioned proper ventilation.

    • @RainbowLane
      @RainbowLane  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you Wendy, I appreciate your comments. I agree, alcohol inks can be so bad for our health. It does worry me that the stuff we use in our arts and crafts might not be taken seriously enough from and health point of view. I was guilty of that myself but as I get older, I am more and more aware of the hazards to our skin and respiratory system of so many different art materials. Also fire hazards from alcohol based products. I watched a video recently of some poor girl who got very ill from using resin without a mask and proper ventilation and yet there are many people doing resin tutorials without mentioning the dangers. Thanks so much for watching and taking time to reach out. Glad you are someone who thinks about these things. 🙏💕

    • @RainbowLane

      I think it would look much better with resin but I worry about the fumes as I have asthma. If I ever use resin, I need to wear a chemical mask so I rarely use it. Thanks for watching and giving that tip - much appreciated because other people might like to try resin. 🙏❤️

      Hi Ginny, glad you like them - but if you do teach in your retirement community, make sure there is plenty of ventilation when using alcohol inks. Hi Denise, yes it really would. I have got resin but I rarely use it because the fumes bother me a lot. I have tried the UV resin and also the two part epoxy resin but they both irritate my chest and I hate working in a fumes mask. If I ever get a fan filtration system I will probably use it more but I doubt that will happen! Or maybe I'll do some outdoors in summer. Thanks so much for watching and reaching out. Hi Gilly, another beautiful project. I really loved the pendants, and the beads too. As we can print them using your free printables the beads won't be expensive done that way. Then we can have matching pendants, earrings, bracelets and hair stick beads. Hi, I use a variety of sticking options from double-sided tape to various glues. From memory I think I used a strong double sided tape for those pendants but I can’t say for certain. They are still stuck firm in the bezels after 2 years though. A thin layer of Dimensional Magic would hold them in too. Thanks for watching and reaching out. 🙏💕

    Hi there, thank you for sharing this creation, i was wondering if i could use Mod Podge instead of the PVA glue.

    • @RainbowLane
      @RainbowLane  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, you’re welcome and thanks for being here. I don’t see any reason why you couldn’t use Mod Podge instead of PVA. My guess is maybe use the glossy one. But in theory any Mod Podge should work as the aim is to make the inks run on the paper instead of being absorbed. I use PVA because it’s pretty inexpensive compared to Mod Podge in the UK. And I’ve never really been sure how standard Mod Podge is different to PVA - it seems finer but still works like PVA. Maybe test it out on a small piece of paper first? Let me know if it works. Thanks for watching. 🙏💕

      @RainbowLane  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Wendy, many thanks for your comment, glad you liked the video. Regarding your question - I am aware that people do say that alcohol ink fades but it’s not as straightforward as saying yes it does or no it doesn’t - it depends on a couple of factors. So what I’ll do is post a picture on my Community section that will help answer your question based on my experience - and it is only MY experience based on where my pieces have been kept and the climate I live in. Give me a few hours and I’ll either post a picture or a video short. I’ll let you know when it’s up on TH-cam. Thanks for watching and for a very good question. 🙏💕

    Beautiful work. Could I use photo paper to make this?

    • @RainbowLane
      @RainbowLane  ปีที่แล้ว

      You might be able to use glossy photo paper but really you’d have experiment with it. I’m not sure how well it would scrunch up to get the ridges - probably best to try with a small piece of glossy photo paper like a 6x4 to see how it reacts. I just tried scrunching up a sheet of glossy 6x4 and it did go wrinkly and get ridges quite well but it made a really annoying squeaking sound! If you can put up with that maybe try it😍I’ll drip alcoholic inks on it when I get a moment and I’ll let you know how it goes. Thanks for watching and reaching out. 🙏❤️

    • @RainbowLane
      @RainbowLane  9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you Jeanette - that’s a very good tip. Wow - your story is frightening and I’m so glad you survived to tell it 🙏. Bleach is an awful chemical - so dangerous. You were very lucky you weren’t seriously injured, or worse. I’m guessing you are UK based as you mentioned a phone box being out of order. Gosh, I remember those days so well! Phone boxes were either out of order, stunk of urine or there’d be a queue because someone was in it with a huge stack of coins having a long conversation! I am really grateful for that tip about the fan - it is so simple but very clever andI hadn’t thought of it! I am very wary of using inks or resin, or strong varnishes because I have a weird asthma type issue that gets triggered so easily by odours. I have a great big chemical mask with a non-return valve built in . It’s brilliant but I find it uncomfortable to wear when crafting. So I tend to avoid chemicals a lot of the time. So your tip is very welcome. I even wear a small paper mask when knitting now because of the tiny fibres that float in the air off the wool. I always cough when I knit and then one day I saw the floating fibres in a shaft of sunlight - you’d never believe you need a mask for knitting would you! Well thanks again for your brilliant comment, it’s lovely to hear people’s stories. Thanks for watching 🙏❤️
