Woah! Icey guy upload :D! 😮 To go back on what said and the full audio. Most of my opinions have changed, and I still have a distate for the current state of the community. But it's gotten better from what I've seen and watched with your streams and such. I think SL is a great game, but I can't see myself returning to it for content making anytime soon. I hope the community keeps improving. Host more events so I can play dude
Yeah probably should’ve reconsulted ya before I (finally) released the video. Hopefully the pin will suffice! Also I’ll try my best to get more of those private games going, fun times.
Yeah the community had certainly fallen from grace on a large scale, but I think a lot of it also depends on your server. Personally, I play on Kings, and (to me at least) it truly doesn’t feel that bad their. Sure the bad stuff can leak in sometimes, but I’ve had so many positive experiences even as recently as today just playing on it and hanging out.
This is very true, there's definitely good times to be had a lot of the time. It's just some days there can be real nasty people gameplay or attitude wise that ruin it for a lot of people. Ultimately I don't think it's a problem that can ever go away fully but there can be steps taken to make it a little bit better.
King's I feel like is degrading. Not only are the servers smaller, but also looser rules allow for more toxicity. In the span of a week I've heard 3 people say slurs such as the T-slur or N-slur and otherwise be racist, transphobic, and homophobic. They got banned but it's still much more common.
Oh jeez ik im kinda necro posting 5 months late but with the recent banning of King's famous mod Aster and how toxic their moderation team is its kind of evideant that the community is going to hell specially when King himself doesen't care about what goes on with his staff anymore. (i got banned for trying to kill aster and calling them a hairy gorilla after they called me mean words that weren't quite true such as calling me racist for shooting them when i was a class D) tldr they leaked staff documents and were a toxic piece of trash.
I started playing SCP SL for about 3 months now, its pretty enjoyable but here are a few things that kind of impact how I feel about the game sometimes, People are generally chill but the try hards who decide to hide someone waiting for Chaos or MTF spawn when they are the last one really sucks. Soundboards are generally great, even I use one occasionally like when going down an elevator I play elevator music. But some people really love to just spam loud sounds over and over again randomly just to annoy people. With that said I have met some pretty amazing people, most people are glad to help a new player learn the game and even guide them through it. There are even a few people who specifically put aside some time in a round for "story time" and explain Warhammer 40k lore just for fun. I just hope that people will just calm down with some of the things they do, there is no reason to talk shit to other people for a few rounds just because they killed you, or blast soundboards just cause.
Yeah don't get me wrong, there's definitely still GREAT and funny people who still play the game. Also I agree that when soundboards are used with good comedic timing that it can be fun/funny. It's just those bad apples that sorta ruins the experience sometimes ya know?
I applaud you for this video. Extremely well put together, and really put most of, if not all of my thoughts about the game currently out there. As someone who started playing at the very start of 2019, I used to play the game multiple times a week with a friend. We’ve always been very casual players in all games we play, and the game really perfectly suited us, providing us with the perfect mix of gameplay, dumb fun, roleplay, and good times. I haven’t played the game with that friend since pre parabellum as we really didn’t like the direction the community was taking, and the game felt less and less like a silly gmod server and more of a competitive game, and yet we still talk about memorable moments and people we had playing in the game all those years ago. I recently came back and have been giving the game a try here and there for a few months now, but I have to say the charm the game once had is still missing, and while there are good people and fun moments here and there, the majority of the community seems hellbent on playing the game as if it was an esport which just doesn’t suit my taste. Having said that, I agree that the game and community still have potential and can be saved, and many of your suggestions were really great. Apologies for the essay of a comment- I have a soft spot for this game and would love to see it thrive with fun and positive energy the same way it did years ago, and I think this video pointed out the problems and some possible fixes perfectly.
Don't apologize for the long comment! I like hearing peoples' thoughts and I'm glad you took the time to put your experience out there. There's definitely still a lot of good fun people in the community, I've made friends as recently as a few months ago, but the amount of people who take the game way too seriously has definitely increased by a fair margin. I think having tags for servers with different types of play would be the best change so people can find new servers to play on while being able to play with a majority of people that wanna play the same way as they do but we'll see if Northwood ever gets around to that lol. Thank you for the comment!
Yea its a strange experience looking back now. All valid points, overall, I think the game itself doesn’t focus on the areas that really need to be addressed. I left due to content, and lack of consistency and transparency with the rules and guidelines placed by the developers. During my lovely time playing sl, I got a large amount of harassment from a particular server host, and although what they were doing was against the NW policy, actually breaking several rules, then just controlling another server when they got banned from hosting one, nothing was enforced. Death threats, raids, pretty much nothing got Northwood to care about myself who was a smaller partner. But just because I forgot something small in my server do they only then come and enforce that? I know it sounds weak to complain about this, but it’s a bit worrying when someone is spying on each of your moves, and still hosts a server on the game you play. Sl’s many issues are something that need to be held accountable on Northwood at some stage, I don’t care if its next year or tomorrow. But simply said they don’t try to support the community in the ways that its needed. Although player numbers are rising, its happened before when XQC and others tried the game. Its about now holding those players. I mean ill skip a beat and say some praise is due to people like Hubert he’s a nice dude, but is he responsible for the poor enforcement of others? No. I just think the game itself is falling into a state where I would rather do something else. In which I made that decision not that long ago. Many people came with me on that. But ill close off my comment with this. Although there is a lot to complain about. If it wasn’t for people like this idiot (love you Icey) I don’t think I would of stayed for as long as I did. It was never about the game, to be honest I hated it most of the time. It was about the community, and those who made it fun. Ill still remember my first game, pretty much one of the last times I was happy playing the game itself. Had this one dude called Groovy Goose, never saw him again. But I remember that time because of him, don’t even remember what the hell I was doing.
I have started playing this game recently and it has been a blast, i am enjoing this game ever since. Side note: i have been playing on a very small server and have been playing almost with the same people all the time Edit: to be honest, I came here from dead by daylight, maybe that is why the community feels so much better for me
i used to play back in 2019, and the RPing stuff was common back then and just so fun. coming back to the game me and my friend just carried on with that same spirit and we soon realised that a lot of the community isnt like that anymore, we dont care about that though, but we do miss it i do think theres a bright future for SL as well, there's just a few things that need to be sorted out also great video :)
one change i really want is for the game to be scarier, theres many things that can be done to do this and would overall make the experience better, more things could be added for scps to make them stealthier and scarier, as well as making the facility darker and more empty to raise fear and paranoia, not from just scps but other humans as well, chaos footsteps are terrifying for scientists but mtf dboys and scientits share the same footstep noise, would be nice for scps and humans to have different and a bit quieter walking sounds to make you more alert and scared, also remaking zombies to have the clothes of the bodies the doctor revived and have groans would pair well with how they dont tpose anymore and make them a threat, doctor being able to talk like 079 with a voice modifier would be extremely cool, and larry having his black mucus over the facility would truly make him feel like a keter level threat, dog needs to be more luring and stealthy and i think its almost at a perfect spot actually, peanut is almost fine but its simply too weak with groups of chaos or mtf so it having some nice buffs would be great, and shy guy needs to strike fear into groups of chaos and mtf how it used to, gaining more power as more people looked at him, and lastly having new scps would bring a lot to the table for scpsl, like 966, something only visible through night vision which would be a mechanic or other methods, anyways thanks for coming to my ted talk as to what would make scpsl feel how it used to be
I agree! SCP:SL's (few remaining) horror elements are what I love. 939's mimicry and literal jumpscare ability, 106's raspy breathing and ability to just pop out of the ground, and 173's loud and abrasive brutality are some of the most tense moments in the game. I wish they would reimplement some of the ambience though like chase music, maybe some original background sounds, and the being alone track. Especially that last one, as being alone for 2+ minutes in a facility with 20+ people and yet not seeing anyone is a fairly spooky experience already because that either means everyone's dead, or someone could be just around the corner...
sorry man but playability>athmosphere/spookiness. Stealthiness isn't very effective in this game, making 939 a stealthy scp would just kill the poor dog.
I think another thing that would be- a lot nicer is allowing modders. (Like) Similar to how some games let you mod completely new content/brand new content similar to the game itself, where its almost not even noticeable, this would let people make nice things and make it fun to.
@@IceyManDude Mhm! Roleplayers would have a field day, being able to make new classes, new entire sites, with the same quality of NW, Stuff that'll never be added like Medical department, or I.A, Or ISD. Or even specialized task forces or more detailed playermodels.
I played this game in 2021, but ive heard of it ealier than 2021, even before the parabellum update but couldnt get an better pc, but i do agree everything you said in the video, The community is slowly but increasing its toxicity. But i still enjoy the game as an casual player or an soundboard user (dont worry im not annoying), Unfortunately i dont have a microphone for personnel reasons which alot (not all) of SL Players dont like. But SCP SL could potentially have a great future soon if they handle this community problem, It may be impossible but i have some hopes for it. Anyways.. nice video!
The community is a pit of toxic people with people fighting a lot over balance changes pushed out, wanting more updates more frequently the list can go on. I feel like this community can recover if it can be done right and it saddens me to see many people like my friends stop playing the game because of toxicity or boredom of the game and I LOVE THE GAME. Met my gf on there.
Glad but also sad to hear that you can relate with friends not wanting to play the game anymore. I met my best friend through it and now he almost hates the game lol. Very sweet to hear that you met your SO through SL though.
God, I love this game. It was the entire reason I bought a PC back in around 2020, I have an entire group of close friends I met through secret lab. But…it’s just horrid now. I’m the only person in my friend group who actively plays the game, I’m mainly a person who RPS. (Messing around with guards as SCP, letting them have their last words and such. Setting up a shop as The Guard, bringing SCP 244 to surface and such). I really miss the days of being able to hop on with my group of friends, and just have fun.
I think a problem that will start to affect some players and the servers that they play on is some of the higher quality mods that are being developed. I'm all for creating private plugins for a price but some of the major servers have these god quality plugins that make it scary for newer server hosts to achieve. With the recent (ish) development of Joker leaving the exiled team, and the late notices for the exiled team causing plugins to break after nearly every update has made it very hard to pick up exiled when hosting a "medium" modded server. NWAPI's just been much nicer to work with as a server host but due to the lack of developers for it (since documentation is horrendous) there won't be any good MAJOR gameplay chaning plugins which causes the servers with deeper pockets to simply reign supreme. With bigger servers comes a lot of newer players that may get shunned by the blatantly toxic pre-existing members of the server. Servers that have been around for longer (Kurva, Dr. Brights, Unigamia in the U.S.) have so much more players and that makes it so much harder to compete in as well. If you weren't established before parabellum you'll have so much harder of a time actually curating a decent community for the game. The only notable exception for the U.S. servers was Lurkbois, and they've seen tremendous success seemingly overnight. With DDen stepping down from their official server status I would be lying if I didn't say I'm a little worried about how some people might leave because of it.
Truthfully, I don't know too much about server and plug-in specific stuff but that is slightly concerning. I hope those issues get resolved because I think variety in popular servers is good and that plugins are definitely a majority of the life and blood of the game.
You’re not wrong about the community. Ever since parabellum, RP has been essentially crushed. I went from casual to tryhard/meme play because of the community change. From early 2018 to MP2 I played the exact same way as I always had, yet when parabellum dropped that changed dramatically. I also have issue with these more recent updates as NW is very backwards. “We understand competitiveness has become an issue” > proceeds to add acid scp and pvp tournaments with in game tag rewards || Another thing, the recent updates have dramatically streamlined the game and made it linear, also contrasting their words and I quote “we want to make the game less linear”. They have removed unique map layouts (it’s all GRIDS now), dboy to mtf escapes and vice versa don’t count to the escaping role tally (encourages tryhards and not cuffing), and some other things not on the top of my head. One change I liked recently was the making chaos targets, as while it does force chaos to fight and therefore make the game streamlined, it did fix confusion and in-fighting within a chaos wave. Despite this, the most recent update (13.1.2 if i recall) is horrid in some cases. Crashing happens 10 times more with no exaggeration! Also the FR-MG was not balanced at all, it shreds regardless of attachments. There is a reason why mtf always goes down to 914 just for the MG y’know? Wrote all this at 3 am on mobile. Sorry for the bad formatting and sentence structure.
i agree so much about everything on this video! i HATE the current state of the community and i've felt that this game has recently fallen into the "Among Us syndrome", where you can have a lot of fun with friends and the polar opposite with randoms. I've been limiting myself to playing the game ONLY on my own server with my friends and the few randoms that join. i could count the exceptions i made to this rule with one hand and almost every time i didn't enjoy my time. Only exception was in the last partner event, where i was invited. Thank you for sharing your toughts and for pointing more lights to this massive problem. I want the old SL back.
I still have some fun in public games as there's definitely some fun and good people out there but can totally understand it getting a bit unbearable for some. Thank YOU for your thoughts!
Fantastic video, mate! I personally have had a worse experience playing SL this past year and because of this I don't really actively play the game as much because of all the toxicity and general unfriendly feeling that has been fostering in this community, the amount of ableism (Along with the rampant homophobia as well as transphobia) can get rather tiring, I will still forever love this game and some of the amazing people in this community, (god bless you RPers) but I personally don't quite enjoy a game where once I join I get verbally abused simply because of my stutter or the fact that I'm Autistic. (Obviously not speaking for the whole community when I say that but I have noticed quite the large spike pop up in the Australian community)
I'm sorry that people do that. Stuff like what you said is what really just leaves a sour taste in my mouth a lot of the time with the toxic part of the community.
That would be Maveruhl! Which fun fact: Is the first person to ever make fanart for me and the avatar in the video is from that art piece! I'll pass along the message
I joined around Megapatch 2 so thankfully I didn’t have to deal with that large gap lol. As for the video I do agree with what you say, maybe this is just me but I feel that Northwood is biased in some cases when it comes to updating their game. Now this is not true for every decision they make and it is understandable why they would be biased towards certain players (patreons) but I noticed that a lot of casual players seem to not like decisions made that more competitive players like. There’s no real way to satisfy either side but I kind of wish Northwood would maybe not listen to the man children that scream at any casual player who has an idea they think would work.
I entirely agree with all said in this video. Hell, i wont even lie, the toxicity feels almost like a virus. Like most the time ill mind my business but when someone insults me or some shit, I insult them back and it just ruins the mood. The toxic players need weeded out. I miss 2018-early 2020 sl
Hey Ves good to see ya, feels like it's been a bit! Yeah sadly a lot of the tryharding and toxicity will start to wear off on ya if you play long enough usually. All I could recommend is try to space it out with other solo games or just take a short little break. That's what I've done and I feel much more refreshed to the game now-a-days.
But i like this age just fine If its about graphics then please do not My pc will burn But for the love of god add new major content Classes scps and stuff
I have almost left the community entirely because of the sheer toxicity, this video really sums it up in a few segment (on making the game better). the only engagement i have with it anymore is comments on SL videos, or the occasional dilly dally. Thank you much for this upload
3:42 EXCLUDING the gameplay trailers. God mimicry and 13.0 trailers are painful to watch (not including teasers, but just GAMEPLAY trailers), parabellum is the only good gameplay trailer
got this vid recommended by a friend and i can relate to the sl fanbase being toxic as hell i play to be silly, not to sweat lmao and getting told "get good shitter" 20 times over after getting sniped by coke chuggers gets kinda tiring
Ah yes a new age for my favorite game S topdown C tarkov P team fortress 2-coded S anomalous L shooter I love that tf2 image when talking about cosmetics in 10:47. The paid game idea is genius. One more thing to solve camping, you give an objective like CS:GO where terrorists plant a bomb and counter terrorists stop them.
Yeah I think deeper objectives for classes could be a neat addition when they have a bit more of the map down. I don't think the game should become entirely paid though, would definitely cut off a LOT of the community from continuing enjoying the game so I think just an option to support the devs one-time with some perks would be neat. Also glad you liked the image lmao.
I really miss Parabellum and many of the casual/rp SCP:SL youtubers. King's Playground(The server I've been playing) has devolved with the new official servers(breeding toxicity with looser rules). As evidence, Starstalker has moved away from it and while pre-parabellum and even mimicry has had me needing to report 1 person in the 1 year I've played, Refracted Reality with the official servers has rocketed up to 5-6(and these people were saying slurs or harrassing others)
Yeah sounds about right. I think part of it may have to do with the sudden spike of players which on one hand, is good! More people playing is obviously good for the game and means new people will try it out. But on the other hand it leads to more possibly toxic people playing the game and ruining the experience for others. it's a double edged sword.
icey you forget the cheating scene for scpsl there is some kids who like to cheat and troll people who want to play and have a fun , i do agree with your suggestion adding like a prime status that players buy but to have that we need some cosmetics or profile rewards and if northwood add the prime status that will put scpsl in danger because the new unity runtime fee
I don't really have much problem with cheaters in my games but I can see it being a problem in some servers. Also yeah it does really suck with the Unity situation, I really hope Unity either takes back that upcoming change or SL has a smooth change to a different engine, but I think it'd be a long time before we see the latter.
@@IceyManDude i don't think currently unity will remove the runtime fee because the CEO is a greedy person who only see us as a dollar sign about the engine change that will be so good seing scpsl in a better engine with good peformance and graphics but it gonna take time
I'd agree that the community is pretty bad right now, I've slowed down content production significantly (from 2 - 3 days to 2 - 3 weeks) due to the lack of available moments where I can have a good time while it being presentable to a wider audience on TH-cam. Still not sure why they have refused to add at least a little more monetization...
Sadly it's a bit more understandable now with the whole recent Unity situation but I agree, I think more income than just Patreon would really benefit Northwood! Maybe if they change engines or Unity backs down then it could be something they look into. Until then we always got the plushies haha.
A day in the life of D-CLASS geezer find access card rund down to 914 and get that 05 card sling a racial slur at the doggo just a bitta banter than get to heavy than surface avoid mtf chaos time and a good time might happen.
Yeah that's true, I think having a more direct and one time way to support Northwood would be cool though with some possible perks in the future as well.
@@Zedorfska This too! I think a general "supporter" server or two could be a neat addition sometime in the future when the game's a bit more stable-going.
I think the problem with SL is down to the communitys wide spread of degeneracy and arogance alongside NWs terrible management of the community and communication between plugin devs and other types of people who want to support the game themselves without being a developer. I understand that the wide majority of NW do try their best to keep the community safe from a management side, but it sadly just isnt working. Ive seen staff with huge biases to disgusting and horrible people and then other staff who just completely act on their emotions and abuse their power instead of following their own rule set NWs support for plugin devs has been horrible, They promised many times to give us forwarning about an update release yet almost never deliver on said promise. The owner of EXILED left his position as project lead because of how much stress NWs handling of plugins and updates were. I think the problem all comes down it SL and NW being heavily based on discord, It seems the game is very reliant on it to the point that i dont think SL would be nearly as popular if community discord servers didnt exist, and dont get me wrong having a discord community is perfectly fine. Its just when the game becomes reliant on those discord communitys that it becomes an issue. Northwood also "hire" people off discord, Which can often times lead to very poor communication or just generally bad people being "hired" into NW. The only positive thing ive seen from the community recently is that no big server has had their owner be a pedophile. Which shouldnt even be a concern but in this game it so very is. Overall, I just think that Northwood should be more careful with who they "hire" and how they go about it, Its clear that they dont have very good communication from inside the studio and i think it honestly would be better if NW got people who hubert personally knows or they hired someone with more game dev experiance than hubert himself. If they also increase their support towards community servers and their support of plugins and the things that can be achieved with said plugins, Then i can see the community getting a lot better, NW are very pesemistic when it comes to plugins and especially MER, The amount of staff ive seen who just hate on plugins and custom maps for being different to the base game is wild. Thanks for reading, I hope that someone agrees with me on this. Ive been playing this game since i was 13 years old (Im 17 now) and all i wanna see is the game succeed
I think a pretty big part of the community being a lot more toxic is because the game has been shifted from a goofy and funny game into a more serious game
@@aexcryl8383 i been on scuut for like a year now And yeah i did get banned just a simple misunderstanding i do not care about the server neither will play on it again... At least my name is not aex who made a whole damn clan for a silly haha voicechat game Absolute baboon mentality aex smh
I stopped playing SCP SL over the summer, and when I came back suddenly EVERY SINGLE GUARD shoots D-class on site. Before, KOS was banned on the Kings server that I played on and admins would work hard to get rid of the racists and a-holes. Now the admins on the other servers I play on don’t do shit when an SCP leaves or something.
I have better solution for your "prime system" instead of paying one fee play the game for some hours so if you wanna be toxic or cheating in "prime servers" you will need lets say 10 hours of playtime and once you banned you must again progress 10 hours and i know they can be afk in menu so it will only count when player is playing the server (Your hosted server thats not in list of servers or doesnt have more then 5 players will not count as hours to prevent farms) And if you wonder what if he will afk on the server and do nothing its easy cs:go done it too after specifit time standing around you will be kicked and also the time you was afk will not count (I mean easy solution and i dont need to be 10 hours but is example)
I have only started playing a little bit before 13.0 released and so far the people have been really hit or miss. They either complain about everything, spam sound effects in global chats when not necessary, tryhard to the point that everyone else in the lobby gets annoyed, or just doesn't have a mic and acts like how you would expect a person to act. Great game from the small amount of time I have played it, but the community is definitely not the greatest.
Yep pretty much my thoughts exactly. As someone who started playing in 2018 and has 2000+ hours, the community (in my eyes) used to be better. I think only a select few used to tryhard and spam soundboards, only doing so in funny situations. The game also had a much more casual feel to it with people messing around and trying to enhance other people's experience rather than stall games and dampen the experience. Then again that was a while ago so maybe my memory's hazy and I'm just an old man shouting at the sky haha.
@@IceyManDude atleast you tried, but we can't trust NW in this one, they might turn breaking bad, and they might make bad changes that effect negatively only to plugins for example custom weapons and items, and for the hats and some accessories might be bad for size changes, who knows... NW already prefer not comply with plugins developers or exiled too much
@@SG.Leader I don't think NW would be that greedy to paywall plugins and stuff if that's what you mean. They are basically the life and blood of a lot of servers and if they did that then it'd REALLY be downhill. As for cosmetics and stuff, that was mainly an afterthought in my idea. The main thing would be the exclusive servers (although with Unity's recent moves, I don't think any of this is gonna happen anytime soon 💀)
I dont get the complaining about good players id say im one of the better players but its fun to have skill in the game being good isnt a problem man the gunplay is fun i enjoy the game for combat and disagree that it should be changed the gunplay along with scps make the game fun
Yeah, this is why I wanted it to be kept only to server configs and not be changed in general because most people are probably used to the newer, more realistic gunplay. Also people who want to play the game or try in it I don't have a problem with. It's just people who take it too far and are exceptionally rude to others that I have issue with.
Yeah, I don't think it should ever go fully paid but I think just an optional way to support the devs and get permanent access to basically private servers would be neat.
This was recorded before the whole Unity thing lmao, probably should've inserted me talking about that somewhere in the vid. As for the updates, I think Mimicry was an amazing update! RR was admittedly not as huge but I think still had it's place. Unless you mean the smaller patches which in that case, idk they're alright in my books.
yea mimicry was my favorite update im talking about the patches 13.1 moving 173 killed the gameflow imo since there's no pressure to escape light early as a d-class or scientist and guards now have to deal with 173 the one scp that they really just CANNOT deal with making an already miserable role significantly worse and personally i dont think the 106 nerf was deserved and didn't fix his core issues, just made him worse to play also the performance tanked somehow@@IceyManDude
@@quisquiliarum7710 Yeah that's understandable. I personally didn't mind those changes too much but I can get why you feel that way! Hopefully 106's full rework (whenever the heck that'll be) will help with some of the problems he currently faces.
Community hasn't been th best I usally hang around non kos servers I do see alot of toxity and it's dose feel like it has been on the rise sadly I hope it gets better, I think the shift is due to the more try csgo like change with the guns and such so idk
I mean Tonyy has like almost 30k subs and a lot of older SL players know of him. I wanted to include Electro because I know he was fairly big to Australian SCP:SL players.
That's true, there's usually moderators who deal with TOO bad of issues too. It's just sometimes there's too many people acting in rude or annoying ways and it gets to be irritating. At the end of the day it just really depends what server you're on I suppose.
Yeah youre gonna get toxic people in a free game like this, i just play it because the core concept of escaping a facility tied with using guns and escaping/killing anomalies is cool.
let's be real it's the gun updates who do you think's attracted to shiny realistic guns? it's the sweaty fps tryhards and the milsimmers, it's people who play shit like rainbow six, infamously toxic communities I've been saying since parabellum these are the people northwoods appealing to and bringing in more of them will ruin the community
Yeah I think that definitely played a big part in the competitiveness we see in the game now-a-days which therein leads to more toxic playstyles and attitudes towards others.
Ehhh I've heard worse my man and I've also been around for that long lmao. But yeah that idea was mainly just from me spitballing, definitely has it's flaws I'll give you that.
I find cool that the Brazilian community is not that bad. But your final solution would be so useless for us beacuse theire are like, 60 peak player count in the country, and just make the paid servers dead
I'm glad to hear the Brazilian community is a good experience! Unfortunately for other regions it can go from bad to worse, like I've heard the Turkish community is hell compared to NA apparently.
Woah! Icey guy upload :D! 😮

@@rainflea true, but the fact that it’s dealt with when it happens makes it much better then some experiences I’ve had on other servers
i play on chaos theory and dr brights some really good people there and its always fun
honestly just also depends on who is on during the time
Oh jeez ik im kinda necro posting 5 months late but with the recent banning of King's famous mod Aster and how toxic their moderation team is its kind of evideant that the community is going to hell specially when King himself doesen't care about what goes on with his staff anymore.
(i got banned for trying to kill aster and calling them a hairy gorilla after they called me mean words that weren't quite true such as calling me racist for shooting them when i was a class D) tldr they leaked staff documents and were a toxic piece of trash.
I started playing SCP SL for about 3 months now, its pretty enjoyable but here are a few things that kind of impact how I feel about the game sometimes,
People are generally chill but the try hards who decide to hide someone waiting for Chaos or MTF spawn when they are the last one really sucks.
I really want character customization, male and female character models/different skin tones/different ages would be a nice thing to see.
This vid is fantastic! Great job 👍
Hey didn't expect to see you here! Thank ya :)
I have started playing this game recently and it has been a blast, i am enjoing this game ever since. Side note: i have been playing on a very small server and have been playing almost with the same people all the time
Edit: to be honest, I came here from dead by daylight, maybe that is why the community feels so much better for me
Haha fair, I can imagine playing on a small server with some regulars is a nice experience. Glad to hear you've been having fun!
i used to play back in 2019, and the RPing stuff was common back then and just so fun. coming back to the game me and my friend just carried on with that same spirit and we soon realised that a lot of the community isnt like that anymore, we dont care about that though, but we do miss it
i do think theres a bright future for SL as well, there's just a few things that need to be sorted out
also great video :)
Glad you share a lot of the same sentiment and have those memories too. Thanks for the comment Lars
one change i really want is for the game to be scarier, theres many things that can be done to do this and would overall make the experience better, more things could be added for scps to make them stealthier and scarier, as well as making the facility darker and more empty to raise fear and paranoia, not from just scps but other humans as well, chaos footsteps are terrifying for scientists but mtf dboys and scientits share the same footstep noise, would be nice for scps and humans to have different and a bit quieter walking sounds to make you more alert and scared, also remaking zombies to have the clothes of the bodies the doctor revived and have groans would pair well with how they dont tpose anymore and make them a threat, doctor being able to talk like 079 with a voice modifier would be extremely cool, and larry having his black mucus over the facility would truly make him feel like a keter level threat, dog needs to be more luring and stealthy and i think its almost at a perfect spot actually, peanut is almost fine but its simply too weak with groups of chaos or mtf so it having some nice buffs would be great, and shy guy needs to strike fear into groups of chaos and mtf how it used to, gaining more power as more people looked at him, and lastly having new scps would bring a lot to the table for scpsl, like 966, something only visible through night vision which would be a mechanic or other methods, anyways thanks for coming to my ted talk as to what would make scpsl feel how it used to be
Zombies need a major update. Give people a reason to play as them.
Make the zombies like "bruhhh" like in Minecraft, problem solved 🧟♂
Nah bro I find them fun as hell, I've gotten so many frags being one
I think another thing that would be- a lot nicer is allowing modders. (Like) Similar to how some games let you mod completely new content/brand new content similar to the game itself, where its almost not even noticeable, this would let people make nice things and make it fun to.
Yeah I think NW said they wanna do that at some point in the future but it'd be cool if it was sooner than later!

"SCP:SL Should be paid!" is such a poorly timed statement and it will 100% never happen because of Unity.
Yuuup. Sucks that that whole situation happened after I already fully recorded and edited that part lmao.
Well they have said that they are backtracking the initial statements so there might be hope
Tbh, nobody will pay to die and wait 5 minutes and die again and wait 7 minutes.
There is a reason why mtf always goes down to 914 just for the MG y’know?

i agree so much about everything on this video! i HATE the current state of the community and i've felt that this game has recently fallen into the "Among Us syndrome", where you can have a lot of fun with friends and the polar opposite with randoms.
What an absolute Gamer
I'm something of a Gamer myself
Sounds weird to say to me for some reason but whoever drew that d class body made it look fire

I love that tf2 image when talking about cosmetics in 10:47.

@@IceyManDude i don't think currently unity will remove the runtime fee because the CEO is a greedy person who only see us as a dollar sign about the engine change that will be so good seing scpsl in a better engine with good peformance and graphics but it gonna take time

Ive seen staff with huge biases to disgusting and horrible people and then other staff who just completely act on their emotions and abuse their power instead of following their own rule set
NWs support for plugin devs has been horrible, They promised many times to give us forwarning about an update release yet almost never deliver on said promise.

Sorry to hear you had that bad of an experience coming back. Stuff like that is what makes me a bit saddened by the current state of affairs.
Started playing recently, general experience was trash until I started muting some people. Kids tend to lower the quality of any community.
My eyes when you said paid 💀
Haha understandable. Hopefully I did a good enough job explaining my point though.
@@IceyManDude atleast you tried, but we can't trust NW in this one, they might turn breaking bad, and they might make bad changes that effect negatively only to plugins for example custom weapons and items, and for the hats and some accessories might be bad for size changes, who knows... @@SG.Leader I don't think NW would be that greedy to paywall plugins and stuff if that's what you mean. Yeah, this is why I wanted it to be kept only to server configs and not be changed in general because most people are probably used to the newer, more realistic gunplay. Also people who want to play the game or try in it I don't have a problem with. It's just people who take it too far and are exceptionally rude to others that I have issue with.
Hey arent you the guy i played megapatch 2 server with
Yes I am! Hello
Drink the cola through the mask!
Maybe next time...
Or just return all of the things from 2019.And return the comunity
Tbh if scp sl turn to paid game, i had no problem for it because the game just fun
Yeah, I don't think it should ever go fully paid but I think just an optional way to support the devs and get permanent access to basically private servers would be neat.
This dropping talking about SLs bright future right before the 2 worst updates it's ever had IMO and unity imploding
This was recorded before the whole Unity thing lmao, probably should've inserted me talking about that somewhere in the vid. As for the updates, I think Mimicry was an amazing update! RR was admittedly not as huge but I think still had it's place. Unless you mean the smaller patches which in that case, idk they're alright in my books.
yea mimicry was my favorite update im talking about the patches
13.1 moving 173 killed the gameflow imo since there's no pressure to escape light early as a d-class or scientist and guards now have to deal with 173 the one scp that they really just CANNOT deal with making an already miserable role significantly worse and personally i dont think the 106 nerf was deserved and didn't fix his core issues, just made him worse to play also the performance tanked somehow@@IceyManDude
@@quisquiliarum7710 Yeah that's understandable. I personally didn't mind those changes too much but I can get why you feel that way! Hopefully 106's full rework (whenever the heck that'll be) will help with some of the problems he currently faces.
Community hasn't been th best
I usally hang around non kos servers
I do see alot of toxity and it's dose feel like it has been on the rise sadly
I hope it gets better, I think the shift is due to the more try csgo like change with the guns and such so idk
They can't make money frome game, cause they have model's from SCP:CB
Very true. I should've mentioned it in the video but I think I meant more-so in the future when SL is in a more stable place to have that feature.
Bro brought up unknown TH-camrs for his points
I mean Tonyy has like almost 30k subs and a lot of older SL players know of him. I wanted to include Electro because I know he was fairly big to Australian SCP:SL players.
@@IceyManDude nuh uh
@@mrwrldwide6351 Valid.
i dont think the community is that bad, i play on eu servers and if u have someone who is annoying just walking away from them
That's true, there's usually moderators who deal with TOO bad of issues too.
That's fair. The setting and variety of gameplay is cool, I have to agree.
more people may of joined back is because people with shit computer were able to play it again without crashing
That honestly may be part of it lol
@@IceyManDude i was one of those people
If the scp sl community is good at one thing its complaining 4:21
Get this man a TRUE.
let's be real
it's the gun updates
who do you think's attracted to shiny realistic guns? it's the sweaty fps tryhards and the milsimmers, it's people who play shit like rainbow six, infamously toxic communities
I've been saying since parabellum these are the people northwoods appealing to and bringing in more of them will ruin the community
Yeah I think that definitely played a big part in the competitiveness we see in the game now-a-days which therein leads to more toxic playstyles and attitudes towards others.
The "csgo prime" suggestion is one of the worst ideas i've heard coming from the SCP SL community, and i've heard a lot since since 2018.
Ehhh I've heard worse my man and I've also been around for that long lmao. But yeah that idea was mainly just from me spitballing, definitely has it's flaws I'll give you that.
I find cool that the Brazilian community is not that bad.
But your final solution would be so useless for us beacuse theire are like, 60 peak player count in the country, and just make the paid servers dead
yeah I'm brazilian and as I was watching this video I was going "tf is this guy talking about?"
I'm glad to hear the Brazilian community is a good experience! Unfortunately for other regions it can go from bad to worse, like I've heard the Turkish community is hell compared to NA apparently.
Turkish servers are so goofy you cant imagine
Yeah I've heard. Sucks to hear it's even worse over there.
mfw he wants to make SL roblox
You know the fact that this comment works scares me.
Agreed
Thanks for watching Kitty! Glad you agree
