And I’m so glad they did!! It was delicious :) Of course we got the more traditional one later in the video, but with Camille as a vegetarian I’m glad she got so many options. That’s pretty rare.
Excellent video and very helpful. We are a couple from India who are visiting Tbilisi soon. The wife eats everything while I am a vegetarian. I am a totally 'spiritual' person 😂, while she only likes sweet red wine! We are both cheese aficionados. We will remember you when we are there. Cheers!
Stubborn Soda makes a Black Cherry Tarragon that is fantastic. I dont drink a lot of soda but won't pass that up. Someday when we make it to Georgia will need to try the lemonade to compare.
Great video. The food in Georgia is really excellent. I have lived in more than fifteen countries in my life (this is my job)😂I will say that a lot has changed in Georgia under the gaze of the spruce tree; more emphasis is placed on tourists.
Wow that's awesome! I wish I could live that many places. I can kinda tell. We were actually there for a travel conference, and the tourism board was REALLY pulling out all t he stops.
Yeah. Unfortunately try as we did, we could not find any licensed Georgian music at all to use. So we could steal it, or use something else. We chose nearest neighbour as we thought that at least somewhat better than generic American filler music 🫠
@@leonidis-g5p yeah I spent forever trying to find music that I could BOTH afford the license to use and that were accurate. After a lot of reading, I went with an Arab artist who makes music on instruments that (as far as I can tell) are traditional to Georgia. The style he plays them in doesn't seem to be accurate to Georgia though. Idk if the local religion needs to be represented in a YT travel video though...definitely the musical language though.
@@NearFromHome Oh it's not about religion. Georgians sometimes get lumped with the Middle East by Westerners which they hate so they always try to emphasize They're not Middle Eastern, including in music. To give some traditional folk examples; Mgzavruli, Krimanchuli, Odoia, Tsisa tura, Daisi etc... This is not a criticism just information :)) Nice video though.
There’s no stigma against eating the dough part of Khinkali, it’s just people would rather not fill up on dough and eat more meat/soup ;d so it comes with experience. Children love the dough though Also, if you’re ever back, I suggest you visit lesser known places rather than touristy ones. Much less expensive and way better/tastier. I recommend “Veliaminov”, “Chashnagiri” and “Racha” All located around Freedom Square in old Tbilisi :)
No doubt we will be back! We really enjoyed our short time there. We were travelling specifically for a travel conference and that ate up most of our time amongst other things, but one day I’d love to come back in the summer and journey more of the country as well.
I found a lot of great Georgian folk music online, but nothing free or affordable to use. The music I chose was the closest I could find in my music library subscription to traditional Georgian music.
I couldn't find any Georgian music that I could buy, and I didn't want to steal from Georgian artists, so I found the next closest thing: music that uses Georgian folk instruments, but played in a different style. I wish there was more Georgian music available on the music licensing website I use!
Yeah :( the only problem was that on the music licensing service that we use we really couldn’t find anything that was Georgian and worked for the style of the video. We did try, but I just don’t think many people are making licensable Georgian music and we really didn’t want to break copyright and just steal stuff. That would feel even worse.
Hello, I like your discussion, but the music that accompanies the video is not Georgian, we Georgians have Georgian folk and it could be used. Thanks and good luck
Thanks! I love Georgian folk music, and listened to a lot of it while editing the video. Unfortunately, it couldn't be used. I could not find any affordable Georgian folk music to use, so had to settle with (what i think) are Georgian instruments played in a different style. So basically, my options were: steal Georgian folk music from artists, or use music that comes as close to Georgian folk music as possible.
hi guys, fact is that traditional meat khinkali has no added water, it should be natural broth from meat and maybe as well from mushroom. Rest of Khinkalis are also amazing, just they should not have soup. you have a bit wrong expectations. enjoy
Only meaty khinkal has juice. I am ashamed that vegetarian khinkali was brought to you in this form. Vegetarian khinkali, as a rule, is without a handle, it should be served hot, put butter on top and eat with a knife and fork
Hey guys, traditional khinkali is only with meat and broth, that cheese truffle is something they just made up for tourists
And I’m so glad they did!! It was delicious :) Of course we got the more traditional one later in the video, but with Camille as a vegetarian I’m glad she got so many options. That’s pretty rare.
not for touritsts, but for family, then it went to tourists as well to try
@@NearFromHomenext time you visit both of you should try mushroom khinkali, closer to the traditional one and vegetarian
@@V_1d We had it at one of the final restaurants! So good!

Wow! The food in Georgia looks exquisite! We had no idea, especially about the soda. Another fantastic video!
Thanks so much! :D It really is.
I'm proud because I live in Georgia 🇬🇪🇬🇪

Great finds, I just got there gotta try as much of these as I can. Thanks for the great video
Thanks! :)
Thank you guys, beautiful video.

Great video! Next time try khinkali with mushrooms and soda with chocolate and cream
The soda comes with chocolate and cream? Are you serious??

that sounds so good! :D
One tip: you can get Grade A Saffron in Georgia for less than on any other market. Definitely visit a spice market whilst there!
That's such a good idea! I wish we had done that.

Hey guys, if you miss Georgian food check out restaurant Vazi in Munich, as a Georgian I can say it's pretty close to what you can eat in Georgia
Thanks so much! A bunch of people have recommended it to us, but we still haven't made time to go. We will soon!
Khinkali is the best food in Georgia, vegetarian or meat possible, delicious food because you only eat it with your hands 😁😋😁
:) We loved it!
If you like tarragon try lamb ragu called chaqapuli!
There is a good Georgian restaurant near us, so I will try it! Thanks!

You should try the most authentic khinkali with ricotta and spinach😊
