First of all, thank you for your great work, video...Also, just in case, about Georgians with more details as from a historian by profession.
Georgians in Georgia ( Caucasus) , Etruscans, Sardinians in Italy (Etruscans, who, along with others also lived on the territory of the kingdom of Kolkhida in the western part of Georgia by the Black Sea), Corsicans in Corsica, Picts in Britain, Spanish Iberians in Spain and other Iberian, Ibero/ Celtic peoples have same ethno, ethnic origin (Also, so for centuries and millennia between the ancestors of the Georgians and the Romans, after the Eastern Romans, there were closely mixed ethno-cultural relations, which also accordingly affected the genetic level of the peoples of the Georgians and Italians. The ancestors of the Georgians lived not only in the territory of Georgia, but also in other parts of Europe, South-East Europe. The ancestors of the Georgians, along with other peoples of the Black Sea and Mediterranean regions, are also one of the creators of the Mediterranean civilization in those ancient historical times and so on. ), which is proved by history, respectively life itself, proved at the level of genetics, archeology, cultures, culture and so on., and this is why all these listed peoples ( together with originality of each of these ethno, ethnic peoples) have similarities, identical in different forms of culture, in folk music, dance, in ancient architectural style and so on. Georgian cultures/culture of different historical times (including modern times) are European ( together with their own culture/ cultures, influences with different European cultures, beginning from ancient times, influences with ancient Greek civilizations, cultures, with Roman cultures, later with East Roman/Byzantine culture, with Catholic Europe and other European cultures during all historical periods in history of Georgians, Georgia, subsequently, among other European cultures, having the closest relationship also with Russian culture ), and of course, all these things proven historically/scientifically by World's, European ( including Georgian) historians/scientists which means also proven geneallogicaly in different periods of time, including by the director of the Zurich Genealogical center, R Scholz, which means that all these ethnocultural, historical evidence, proof are accordingly proven by life itself too...
Sincerely, Alex
Local Georgian here. I'm glad you liked our food, It's always good to see our culture from a foreigner's point of view. 😊 Nice video and good luck.
I am travelling to Tbilisi last week of April. Can you please suggest some must haves in food there and places to have them ?? Thanks!🙏
@@tummalapallisaurabh8708 I can help you with that.
For Khinkali go to place called "Daphna".
For Adjaruli Khachapuri (Cheese boat) go to "Puri Guliani".
At "Megruli Sakhli" you should order Shkmeruli, Elarji (with walnut sauce or Kharcho), Eggplant with walnut sauce, Gebjalia, Kupati.
For Lobio Stew try "Salobie Bia".
For traditional snacks "Badagi".
I am expecting your comment after you try these. : )
Daphna is good for khinkali as mentioned, definitely worth a try, but I did prefer Asi Khinkali to be honest. all the links of where I ate are in the description. To be honest, there is so much good food there, it is difficult to go wrong
I loved it! the food, the people, the culture, the country! I will 100% be back. Hope you saw my Mestia video on my other channel too

yes! I love it! Thank you
10 khinkalis is my antirecord man. great vid
hahahah thank you!
What a great video! Thank you
Thanks for interesting video. Only one remark for Churchkhela. Yes, Churchkhela is very sweet and delicious and some people who don't know it's history call it Georgian Snickers. But it is Georgian traditional (and very old) combat ration, some kind of MRE - Meal Ready to Eat. It is not only deliciouse, but contains a lot of calories, nearly all necessary vitamins and minerals. if properly stored you can keep it for years. Normally, one churchkhela per meal is enough. By the way, there is some churchkhela diet in Georgia to loose your weight. You must eat two churchkhela and drink one bottle of red dry Georgian vine per day. I don't know how it helps, but you will really enjoy.
The only Georgian thing I think I've had was some Georgian wine a few years ago. No complaints from me.
Well, wine isn't a bad place to start haha. But the food is fantastic too, I must say - just... very calorific
New adventure and wonderful reporting. Have a safe journey Joe.
thanks Max
YES!
There are tons of Georgian food tour videos, but yours is an exception because you made it with taste!
That means a lot! Thank you! I tried not to be like all the others
Amazing video, thank u so much for promoting out food! the classical spice mix for khinkali is: cilantro, theme, black pepper, red chilli, onions.. you can mimik Georgian cheeze for khachapuri by combining equal parts of feta and mozarella.. good luck on your journey!
thank you! Oh yeah! I will definitely be making the khinkali at home! same with the Khachapuri now I know the trick to get the right taste, thank you!
The food looks very delicious.
So good - I love Georgian food
35:00 my god?! that was unexpected! So congrats, you are one of us - georgians now😄❤
hahahaha, even the waiter was impressed. If I can do one thing well in life, that is sink a drink!
Amazing work !
Thank you
Amazing food
SOOO good!
Love the new video and the new country. Like I have said in the past you just need to work on those Mark Wiens faces and adjectives. You will be a foodie star.
hahaha Mark Wiens has a copyright on all that stuff I think haha - if you try and copy, you get blacklisted hahaha
welcome to georgia my friend ❤️❤️ fantastic video 🎉

I didn't know you got some grooves Joe 😊
I have been known to throw some moves from time to time
Greetings from Tbilisi, Joe, and thanks for such nice video!
Salobie Bia is really nice 💗 Both Lobio and Chkmeuruli there are very delicious.
"Bia" means "quince". I thought they called it Salobie Bia / Bean-house Bia because they rhyme well, but indeed it could have been named after the village Bia.
My pleasure! I am really happy you liked it. They told me it was due to the owner coming from the village of Bia when I ate there. which is cool. I like the connection people have to their roots.
love from georgia ❤
Thank you :)

I love it!!!
Friend, you had the ugliest Khinkali I've ever seen, but don't despair. Traveling in Georgia is happiness!)))
hahahahah the ones at the restaurant were better, that is for sure! I am good at eating, not making haha

Also, just in case, Georgian folk culture, folk music, Georgian songs, music, melodies are very diverse (like folklore, music, culture, of other European peoples, peoples of the world). Proceeding from the foregoing, polyphonic singing, serenades, lullaby, choral/church songs and etc.- there are a phenomenons of European, which is the basis of Georgian folklore, Georgian singing, music, wich means that Georgian serenades, as well as Georgian polyphonic songs, lullabies, Georgian diverse folklore in general, with their diverse sounds, rhythms, genre, flow, Georgian choral/church songs, including real Georgian folk dances, not the so-called Common Caucasus, are European. Every region of Georgia has its own specific folk culture, music, there are even representatives of the regions, who with a common Georgian language also have their own language, like Mingrelians , Svans and Laz people, but all of them, all these ethnic subgroups: Imeretians, Gurians, Mingrelians, Svans, Laz people (About Laz people, here we mean mainly those Laz people who are mostly living in Georgia and who have preserved their common Georgian ethno-cultural consciousness and belonging to Georgians and who saved their faith- Christianity. Also, Lazes, among the Georgian ethnic subgroups, are closest to Mingrelians.), Kartlians, Kakhetians and other subgroups, are Georgians, represent one Georgian people, nation, culture.
Regarding the religions of the Georgians, like other European peoples, the peoples of the world, the ancestors of the Georgians, Kolkhians, Iberians had pre-Christian, pagan faith -religions, which were subsequently synthesized into Christianity among the Georgians in Georgia too, as all this happened among other European peoples of Europe, the peoples of the World, examples all this are the main Christian dates, holidays - Christmas, Easter and others, and in Georgia, among Georgians, including dates, holidays associated with the patron Saint George, in November 23. The prototypes of the patron saint "St. George" of the ancestors of pre-Christian Georgians were called by different names: "There was White George", "Lashari-George" and so on., which after the adoption of Christianity were synthesized into "St. George" among the Georgians. Also Georgians, representatives of different Georgian regions have each In essence, they are the same dates, holidays that correspond to the date of the Celts' holiday - "Samhain", from which the current Halloween originated, and so on and so forth. Georgians, Georgian rulers, the Georgian church, Georgian society did not participate in that church division of the 11th century, and for centuries recognized the Pope, only about 2 and half centuries ago the formation of the current type of Georgian Orthodox Church began due to external and internal historical reasons of the last centuries of Georgia. Before the Sovietization of Georgia, there were much more Georgian Catholics...
wow thank you so much for the interesting information
@@hungrytoexplore Thank you, I really much appreciate that you read my these comments, I just try to write objective history, information, including as a historian by profession, not only in relation to Georgians and Georgia, but also in relation to other peoples, countries, issues...

2:25 I'll tell you what to put in. I searched for Georgian recipes and they don't write the full recipe either 🤣😂you need 300 g. of beef and 200 g. of pork,
2-3 onions, parsley, coriander, red pepper(dry), salt, and a title carum or cumin. When you prepare this, you should cook it soon (in 1-4 hours), otherwise, the spices will sour the meat and give it a bad taste.
You’re a star! I’ll definitely make some at home.
@@hungrytoexplore 😆👍I'm glad you saw my secret information
Ik thing you was wrong about thinking potato puree mixed with cheese it should be corn flour cooked with cheese. I am georgian so that's why.
Agreed, the potato one is from svaneti, right?
@@hungrytoexploreyes 🧡 friend 🍻. I should comment there.
Are you from Georgia Joe?
hahah no! I am British!
@@hungrytoexplore did you grow up in England?

love it!
No offense intended: you could easily pass as a Georgian, but the way you eat khachapuri gives you away. :)
Haha that is a big compliment, don’t worry :)
Asi means 100, so its 100 khinkali
Brotha you got ripped on that khinkali... 27 lari for 10 ? Jesus christ where did you go ?
thanks but khinkali is not dumpling
What is it then? 🤔🤔
just khinkali D:

Come to Pakistan
Yes!!! One day I will
That Dima's tea shop has nothing to do with Georgian food. Those cafes are the ones in hundreds that Russian expats opened in Georgia when they came in droves after starting war in Ukraine. Waste of space in this otherwise GREAT video.
You won't taste real khinkali, it's not well made, the meat is bad, try it in Batumi in Georgia
28:14 Yeah I know its so delicious its might be the second most delicious food in this country its just unique
100%!!!
That Khachapuri reminds me of a Turkish pide. Both provide a bit of room for the human imagination to run wild in...😅😂🤣
haha yes, very much like a Pide, which is also delicious... not sure where your imagination went though ;)
Pide does not belong to Turkish cuisine, it belongs to Laz-Georgian cuisine! After the Ottoman occupation, some lands remained on the Turkish side with their natives, and that culture is their culture, that is, our culture.
thanks for the interesting video. I'm from Tbilisi. I am a cook... myself...Georgian cuisine is very rich and interesting...if you have any questions about the cuisine, please contact me...)

Local georgian kid here so I have this simple plastic machine where you put the dough I dunno the name of it then the meat or something else then you push with force then it created an perfect khinkali then you push another button with force to release the khinkali
