you will gain some time by duplicating the painting you made for the highlights, then adjusting it for the darks, instead of painting two times. Cheers, great content
Will Simpson - Exploring Photography it makes it real! When it’s super beyond polished then it can seem too perfect or unobtainable to get to that level.
Very helpful. Is there any chance you could demo how to do this using the new Lr masks? The latest luminance slider is confusing as it has 4 controls and not sure how they correlate to the older design slider.
Already done :) I have tons of videos on all kinds of things in Lightroom. If you scroll on my main page of channel there’s a “Lightroom editing” section or you can click videos and it’ll show all that I’ve done. Here’s the link for the new Lightroom masking update: th-cam.com/video/RvjwEOBTT-U/w-d-xo.html
@@willsimpsonphoto Thank you! Found it while you were responding I guess, just finished watching it! Great tutorial! Now I wanna watch more of what you’ve got on your channel! Cheers from Seattle!
When you boost the global contrast it adjusts the entire image with no control. When using this technique it allows you to adjust the contrast on very specific selection of the lights or darks. Just allows you to target more specifically what you want to add contrast too!
The clarity slider increases contrast of the entire image, unless you use it with the adjustments. However it adjusts the contrast in mid tones only. By dodging and burning you’re increasing the contrast of that spot as a whole, not just the mid tones

@@aviatorman8 awesome! Great to have you!
Nice!
Thanks!!!
How is this different from boosting the contrast?

Soooo what's the difference between that kind of dodge and burn and local clarity?
The clarity slider increases contrast of the entire image, unless you use it with the adjustments. However it adjusts the contrast in mid tones only. By dodging and burning you’re increasing the contrast of that spot as a whole, not just the mid tones
@@willsimpsonphoto that's what I thought - using clarity on some parts only. But what you say makes sense, thanks a lot!
@@kubakubiczek no problem! I use either a little + clarity or -clarity depending on the image. But always very little tweaks with it.
