BBTS is probably the most underrated group in Japan. They have been around since 2016. I think of them as a more hardcore BABYMETAL. Same band structure (Idols as front women with a backing session band behind them wearing masks). They just have 4 singers and dancers. One being a growler, one being a screamer , and two cleans. Their music is more complicated and has a lot of depth. Their more intense sound is probably why they are so niche. Also not everyone like the chaos of so many signature and tempo changes in a song. EDIT: And yes, the grower, Iorin, is real. You can see live footage on youtube and her doing metal karaoke on her SMS. Even Phil Labonte of All That Remains was impressed by her cover of one of their songs on X.
I LOVE Broken By The Scream. Don't worry about song titles, they all translate to "WHAT THE FU** IS GOING ON, I LOVE IT!!!!!" The song is called "Emotional Cross Counter" if you want to be technical about it. Yeah it's io's real guttural growl. She can do killer high fry screams as well, but doesn't in this band. Broken By the Scream is a very niche alt-idol group, and I think it's safe to say that they are odd enough that they will never reach a really wide audience. But I love them! The musicians are amazing, and the harsh vocals are world-class (and totally real). There's actually a surprising number of really good female harsh vocalists in Japan. My favorite overall might be Yu from MergingMoon. Not sure how so many demons can fit inside such a small woman. Check out their song _Greyen._
Broken by the scream are awesome. They are Idols like Babymetal and Passcode but much heavier and they like to put Jazz in there songs. They are different from most Idolcore groups because they do not use and Vox or Autotune/Decoders, They are all raw vocals. Lo honestly probably has the deepest harsh vocals I've ever heard and she really does sound like that. Would love to see more! they also have a lot of great songs. "KI - RA - I - live in Tokyo" i would recommend. And if you want to see more Idolcore, check out Passcode and MAZE.
I love broken by the scream, i saw them in august and yes Io can go that low with her voice even in live, no fake voice just power
