- The Royal International Air Tattoo takes place at RAF Fairford airbase in the heart of England every July, and is one of the largest gatherings of military aircraft anywhere in the world.
Despite the reduced involvement of the US armed forces in recent years it still attracts some serious participation from other NATO air arms, and puts on a full 8 hour flying display.
At the end of the weekend a number of flying display awards are given out to the show display teams, and are highly sought after.
This is the first of 3 video instalments I will be uploading on airshowvision channel celebrating the displays which were selected by the judging panel as the best of the best, and features the display teams from Northern Europe, which scooped three major awards in total.
The Finnish Air Force McDonnnell Douglas (Boeing) F/A18 Hornet was the biggest winner with two awards, and the Swedish Air Force SAAB Gripen taking one award.
In a few days time I will upload part two in this series so stay tuned for more high speed action . . .
Never seen a F- 18 hornet do those kinds of maneuvers, that was amazing, also must take a lot of skill on the pilot's part of course, great highlights.
JAS 39 GRIPEN, outstanding performence, clean design. A lethal multitool!
@@yksvaan1690 - We got the sales in Brazil, outclassing Bribery-Boeing. Smart money says we'll get the sales in Finland was well. Not bad from a small nation of 10 million.
@@yksvaan1690 The Gripen cost $2Bn. to develop. Compare that to any american product and you will understand how good the gripen is given the price.
Gripen king
Wow I thought the finns did a good job but the Gripen blew them away! Gobbsmacked!!
Gripen empty is more agile but there's a reason Finnish Air Force didn't choose it in the 90s
@@yksvaan1690 Please enlighten me about why the finns didn´t chose it. Nato support? F18 being cheaper and more capable? No plane is fully loaded when doing an airshow so what´s your point?
Cringe
Sure don’t ever see American pilots flying the 18 like that. Impressive
Thank You, Sir. That's what we do. FAF F11 & SWAF F19, F21 forever! 🇫🇮🇸🇪💪
It looks like the F18 is making incredible turns but more around it’s own axis rather then an actual forward motion like the JAS 39 Gripen.
2:35 is that MAVERICK inside?
That turn later at 14:30 ....... That's some G forces
At least 9 in a half G. That would rip an f-4 phantoms wings off😂😂
The Sweeds rule!
How?
@@yksvaan1690 - By JAS 39 Gripen. Check red flag scores.
BEAUTIFUL WARBIRDS!
Awesome video! I stood not far right next to you. ;-)
Thank You - and yes everyone is stood in almost the same place, squashed into a tight space between all the corporate enclosures which now take up most of the prime crowdline, so everyone's videos look almost the same.
@@airshowvision Yes, that's true. :/
JAS 39 Gripen 🤘🤘
Gripen the best.
It's funny, the Finnish Air Force is about two weeks older than the Royal Air Force
the Royal Army Air Corps is a different matter but ask if Royal Navy Aviation agrees about the establishing of it all
I Understand why F18 are most commonly use in USAF
F-18 super manuverable. Confirmed.
The North brothers rules!!!
🇸🇪👍🏻
Yes Gripen can do rolls but lack of power
It can outmanouver any warbird on the planet in a dogfight. It can also go slightly beyond mach 2.0 which makes it faster than the F/A-18.
@@AverageArtz lol F-22
Can launch from unprepared runways and launch meteor missles. More NATO natiobs should use them.
*Psst psst... Finland is not part of Scandinavia.
LOL. But they are our loved/"hated" brothers & sisters. Hyvä Suomi ❤ from Sweden.
Kuwait ka penalty courtue acca na
the finns rule
Shit, I never knew F18 could perform so great!!! Damn.... F18 god damn blaps F16V!!!
