  • The original John Wick was a surprise hit with stylish visuals and a high body count. With the sequel on the way soon, we decided to go looking through the first Wick pic for sins. As usual, we found some.
    Next week: A pair of recent action sins.
    Remember, no movie is without sin! Which movie's sins should we expose next?!

    4:08 is a perfect representation of Wick. That floor took how many sledgehammer swings to get into? He could have changed his mind, said "Fuck it" and went about his life, minus one dog and a stolen car. No, that scene showed me how BLOODY ANGRY John Wick was, that he was willing to continue sledging until the instruments of revenge are available to him.

      I like what you said as well as it makes me think of the meta4 of how deep he buried his "old self". And how painful it was to become that person once more. DING

      Exactly, he could have also just hid his weapons in a much easier to get location but i felt like he buried it under all that concrete cause he really wanted to stay out of the game, so he just put them in a place he'd have trouble getting to and have time to clear his mind and think about if its worth it (about 10 minutes of sledgehammer swings into the ground would give you alot of time to think rationally)

    • @zebry13
      @zebry13 7 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      I like to think that's why he put them so hard to get to in the first place. He wanted to be completely done with that life, he could only go back to it if he really REALLY wanted to.

      The directors also said in an interview that the cop who turns up is part of an alternate underworld comprised of law enforcement, who are aware of the underground society John is a part of, and that they generally look out for eachother. i.e Assassins don't kill underworld cops, and underworld cops don't arrest assassins unless they kill innocent people.

    I enjoy the majority of CinemaSins videos and understand part of the joke is nitpicking. But this one had so many blatantly incorrect sins that appear to be the result of you not paying attention.
    For example, your sin about "random club henchman kicking John's ass" makes no sense.
    1. That's not a random henchman, it's clearly demonstrated multiple times throughout the movie that he's the head of the sons security team. Logically he's a much more skilled and experienced fighter than typical guards.
    2. It's less than 48 hours after John was severely beaten, survived a hit squad assault on his home AND he's just fought his way through dozens of mob club guards. OBVIOUSLY he is not performing at his best.

      I'm pretty sure anyone on hotel grounds is considered off limits for any other assassin, no matter if that assassin is in the hotel or not. So long as you remain on the hotel's property, their laws will protect you. It's not where the killer was located at the time of murder that's important, but where the victim was located.

    • @Ben-Dover75
      @Ben-Dover75 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Idk I actually didn't like that scene, well not the scene but the fact the Ms. Perkins even shows up to the meeting. I don't understand why she was that dumb. The clearly portray here as this badass assassin. And she knows that there are serious consequences with doing business in the hotel, I mean she not only tried to kill John, but did in fact murder Harry. So, when getting a phone call from the hotel, why would she even answer it? She knows that are going to find Harry's body, she even says that "housekeeping will find you" so I don't understand what could've been told to her in order to show up. Also, I don't like how she didn't put up a fight, I get she was clearly outnumbered, but still she didn't even try to defend herself, draw her weapon or anything... idk loved the movie, just thought her actions were dumb :/

    I don't understand the sin for when John is "wasting ammo". What he was doing was known as the mozambique drill or failure to stop drill. Is when a target is at close proximity, placing two shots to the sternum to disorient followed by a headshot to stop the threat.

It's not often they think something is buried under a foot of cement unless they are tipped off. As I watched a Medical Detectives recently, the police lady who kind of cracked the case did so because she took her shoes off before entering the house in the search. (The carpet was cleaned recently and still had the damp residue - something that all the other officers would have missed because they were wearing shoes)

    Two (or three in this case) shots to the chest, then one to the head is a common firing practice, called the "Mozambique drill", intended to immediately and reliably stop any attacker. It's no waste of bullets.
    Oh, and firing through a pillow does barely anything to quiet the gunshot (this goes double for most revolvers), if anything this movie actually avoided that ridiculous trope.

Especially the ending, which rendered the entire movie pointless because it brought us back the exact same moment as the end of the second one. So dumb, I mean the whole reason for the third movie was the cliffhanger at the end of the second and the whole world of assassins were going to try to kill him as the continental put a hit out on him, so the whole third movie is him killing and running, and then the end of the third movie... is a cliffhanger where the whole world of assassins is going to try to kill him as the continental puts a hit out on him. Why the hell would they do the exact same thing... it makes the entire third movie completely pointless, not to mention Halle Barry’s retarded character. Like, ohh wow she likes dogs, John wick likes dogs, I like dogs too... yeah 1000 headshots will make up for the movie having nothing else at all happen and end in the exact same spot it began..... but internet people are like a teenage girl in denial that her boyfriend is a loser, you point out that the first movie was great and the second not bad, but the third is shit, and they lose their shit.

The 3rd film being the most celebrated one because of these improvements in both aspects. Bigger budgets= better stunts and better fight scenes. The premise is simple, and people eat it up. It doesn't make it a bad film, it's just going for a different style that doesn't appeal to you. And that's perfectly understandable, you don't have to like the 3rd movie. Black Kang Ah I see the issue, I think you're looking at it wrong. That dog, (named Daisy btw) was the last thing his wife gave to him before she passed, a gift from her to John so he wouldn't have to grieve alone. Daisy was supposed to be a kind of closure for John, but when they killed Daisy that all got ripped away from John. (He does state this as well). How would you feel about it if you were him? Most likely the same way. And those people were Russian mobsters, yes they're just people but probably not much better than John with the kind of business they're in. Also John is a hitman after all, so we all know he's not the "good guy," but in this instance he is considered to be. They're under direct orders from Viggo as well to protect Iosef and kill John. Essentially Viggo just sent them all to their deaths because he knows what John is capable of, basically he was doing his best to prevent the inevitable. Viggo is the real bad guy here if you ask me. Personally I do agree with a couple of these sins, but I still think John Wick is a great movie and one of my favourites.
