I hate to compare artists, but Demi fully utilizing her vocal range is something I wish other artists would do. Sometimes they're held back by production. That's what I love about Demi. She knows she can sing, and she SINGS. Deserves more respect as a vocalist.
@@maalavikah i disagree. ariana has started portraying a lot of emotion through her singing. when you hear thank u next (the album) you can literally imagine her crying and singing bc her voice portrays that emotion. and in positions (the album) you can literally imagine her smiling and singing bc that’s how happy she sounds in some tracks if not all.
Some tips on the album for non-demi fans!! ICU (Madison’s Lullabye) is about her little sister, Madison. The first time she went to rehab it was because her mom told her she couldn’t see Madison anymore. After her overdose, she woke up and Madison was at her bedside but she was blind and literally couldn’t see her. Lonely People and 15 Minutes are both about her ex-fiancé Max Ehrich, who used her to promote his career. When they broke up he went back to the beach in Malibu where he proposed and called in the paparazzi to photograph him praying and crying (hence “praying in Malibu, crying in Malibu”). Melon Cake references a birthday cake her old team gave her because her food was monitored 24/7 due to her eating disorder. It was a watermelon with cool whip on it. Butterfly is about her dad. (other songs about her dad are Father & For The Love Of A Daughter)
madison is demi’s little sister and the song ICU is about how after her overdose she was temporarily blind and she couldn’t see her sister next to her when she woke up. she even asked “who are you?”
Madison is Demi's sister, it's about Demi waking up blind after her overdose and not being able to see her younger sister and couldn't even recognized her voice. That's heartbreaking.
@@ivyconsuela4964 yes and it's a play on ICU (intensive care unit) where Demi was when she couldn't see Madison and "I see you" how she was able to recover and finally see her
@Anne Day idk, it’s just crazy to me. Like I’ve followed both of them since the beginning. And to see Ariana write a song for her about her struggles, is just crazy to me. Like who would have thought.
Ariana knows her pretty well so she definitely wanted to be there for her. She’s probably the only person who did something like that for her too. So it just shows how close their relationship is. Especially how supportive she is as a friend. I respect her fully.
Fun facts about their songs: 1) Anyone was recorded three days before their near fatal overdose 2) Madison is Demi’s younger sister who is best known for her role in Desperate Housewives 3) Dancing with the Devil recounts what happened leading to their overdose 4) Melon Cake talks about how every year on their birthday their old manager would give them a watermelon cake frosted with nonfat whipped cream to take control of their weight. 5) 15 minutes refers to how their ex-fiancé use them for clout to get his 15 minutes of fame. 6) California Sober refers to the status of their addiction 7) Lonely People has them going back to their roots (meaning that they had a pop/rock sound in their first two albums) 8)Butterfly is about their biological father. For more facts, check out their docuseries Dancing with the Devil.😍❤️ This was one of my favorites

Background on the songs you might not knew: -I.C.U: when Demi woke up in the hospital she was legally blind and couldn't see or recognize her sister Madison -Melon Cake: Demi was forced to LITERALLY eat watermelon cake for her birthday as a part of her strict diet forced upon her by her old management. -Met Him Last Night: Ariana wrote this specifically for Demi, because of what she went through. Demi was like: you better sing it with me girl! -15 Minutes: the title has a double meaning, it can be both about how she had "10 to 15 minutes" when she was found after her OD, and about how Max Ehrich dated Demi for his 15 minutes of fame. -California Sober: Demi tried to be sober completely but it didn't work for her, so she's now trying to be 'California Sober': weed to substitute for hard-drugs. This is Demi's most honest album. Her voice is the best it has ever been. She was almost gone. Dead. But she isn't. She is a warrior. And a survivor. She absolutely slayed it.
@@magnoliacoronamerodio8623 yes, she smokes weed and drinks in moderation, according to what she said in the final part of her documentary she just released.
@@bellabear8016 she'll realise she needs to remove alcoholic completely soon enough. Drinking socially is ago. But "in moderation" means she's drinking at home, but limiting herself. Eventually she'll give into her vice.
madison is demi’s younger sister! when she woke up in the hospital (after the od) she was blind and couldn’t recognize her own sister so she asked “who’s this?” it was such a heartbreaking moment so she wrote this song for her that’s why she said “i was blind but now i see” it’s such an emotional & meaningful song :(
Also, a few years back when Demi went to rehab the first time, her parents told her she wouldn't be able to see her baby sister anymore unless she got the help she needed. So that's what gave her strength to heal the first time... After her OD in 2018, she woke up blind due to the strokes she had and she couldn't ~literally~ see her sister standing beside her hospital bed. So ICU (Intensive care unit) is where she was hospitalized after her OD and also stands for "I see you". It is the most beautiful, poetic and deep play on words I've ever seen.
Melon cake refers to when her old record label was controlling her weight and body size. They didn’t allow her to eat certain foods, on her birthday they got her a cake... a melon cake. They didn’t even allow the girl to eat a real birthday cake ☹️
@@soaribb32 actually no. That’s why she’s still with Hollywood Records. Didn’t you watch Dancing with the Devil Episode 3? She said when she woke up from the hospital, the first thing she said was “I want new management”
Madison is Demi's little sister. They have a very close and special bond. Demi became sober the first time because her parents told her that if she continued to do drugs she wouldn't be able to see her anymore. In a twisted and heartbreaking way, those words kind of became true. When Demi woke up in the hospital after her overdose, her sister Madison was the one at her bedside and Demi didn't know it was her because she couldn't see.

I'm dropping by here again because I still can't believe that this album, DWTDTAOSO didn't get any Grammy nominations. This is Demi most heartfelt album. it told their true story and struggles over the past years. can't believe 😭😔😭
I honestly think the difference is that her new management isn't controlling her sound as much. There's no way it's a coincidence this album is her most cohesive sound especially with the music taste she has that she's talked about during interviews.
That cry actually hit me right in the heart. This album speaks with so many problems that people actually deal with in real life and the way she portrays it makes me feel so touched.
The fact that there are only 5 out of 19 songs she didn’t give a goddamn mark is insane... plus one of them is a spoken intro, another one is a cover 😌
Demi surprised me so much on this album. Nothing but respect for her as a person and an artist, so happy she’s confident enough and secure enough to authentically tell her own story. Bravo

Madison is her little sister, back in 2010 when Demi was 18 she was forced into rehab, one of the things she was told was she would not be able to see her little sister if she doesn’t get help, so she got help so she could continue to see Madison was around 10 at the time. When Demi overdose, she had a stroke, when she woke up she was legally blind for a while, she couldn’t see her sister Madison for the first time, she can see now, but she has blind spots. The irony is that she got help the first time round so she could continue seeing her sister and after her overdose and when she woke up she literally couldn’t see her sister.
@@dulapeep8736 Grammy is so political right now. Hehehe. Demi is above that. She is about spreading awareness and being a light to everyone and not about winning awards, selling millions of albums, etc. Nicki Minaj also don't have a Grammy award and she is also a legend, so, that is that.
Madison's is Demi Lovato's younger sister. It's extra sad cause like when Demi started doing drugs she was told by her mother that if she continues she wouldn't be able to see her sister Madison anymore, but when she had her overdose in 2018 when she first opened her eyes Madison was at her bedside and she literally couldn't see her. I can't-😭😭😭😭😭
Im so sure this will gonna be ALBUM OF THE YEAR, im not anymore in my liability stage and demi showed me the beauty of starting over. We only have ourselves, truly. This is literally her best album yet. My predictions are mostly correct and I have a strong feeling about this album winning AOTY at the Grammy's, unless Taylor Swift or Adele comes up with something better.
I know a lot of people don’t like Demi anymore, but how can anyone deny that that she has such raw talent and several songs that are full of soul and emotion and go straight to the heart?! So many people try to deny it because they don’t agree with her mistakes or things she has said or done. They must be deaf or lack life experiences. The reason Demi had so many fans in the first place (besides her incredible vocals and range) was because so many people have been able to relate to her experiences and the songs she writes about them (whether it’s bullying, an abusive father, abusive boyfriends, eating disorders, body image issues, or struggling with addiction). For the Love of a Daughter and Skyscraper will always be two of my favorite songs of all time. She may tweet some weird things or make rude comments, or get into controversies, but I will always appreciate her for being such a talented singer and songwriter…and for being such a raw and real artist! I love how she always puts feelings in her songs! I have four of her albums (Here We Go Again, Unbroken, Demi, and Confident). I plan to get this one now! It’s a shame some of her best songs like Together and Starting Over never make it to the radio.

I hate to compare artists, but Demi fully utilizing her vocal range is something I wish other artists would do. Sometimes they're held back by production. That's what I love about Demi. She knows she can sing, and she SINGS. Deserves more respect as a vocalist.
and she really doesn't need to do much vocal showcase anymore to show that she's a fantastic singer

Can I ask, when you say dad, do you mean her birth father or her stepdad??

Madison is Demi's sister, it's about Demi waking up blind after her overdose and not being able to see her younger sister and couldn't even recognized her voice. That's heartbreaking.
Yes... once you know that, the song gets a whole new meaning. "I was blind, but now I see you".

Fun facts about their songs:
1) Anyone was recorded three days before their near fatal overdose
2) Madison is Demi’s younger sister who is best known for her role in Desperate Housewives
3) Dancing with the Devil recounts what happened leading to their overdose
4) Melon Cake talks about how every year on their birthday their old manager would give them a watermelon cake frosted with nonfat whipped cream to take control of their weight.
5) 15 minutes refers to how their ex-fiancé use them for clout to get his 15 minutes of fame.
6) California Sober refers to the status of their addiction
7) Lonely People has them going back to their roots (meaning that they had a pop/rock sound in their first two albums)
8)Butterfly is about their biological father.

@@heyyou1651 time 4:00
i mean she was right sadly :/
@@nicole3007 no she wasn’t, Demi never did crack. Like Whitney Houston said “crack is cheap”
Background on the songs you might not knew:
-I.C.U: when Demi woke up in the hospital she was legally blind and couldn't see or recognize her sister Madison
-Melon Cake: Demi was forced to LITERALLY eat watermelon cake for her birthday as a part of her strict diet forced upon her by her old management.
She absolutely slayed it.
oh as a demi fan, is that true? i didn’t know she was california sober!
So Demi only smokes weed?
@@Melissa-gh6wg yes, in her final part of her documentary released today, she said that she now only drinks in moderation and smokes weed
It’s not her record label. It’s her old management team. Two different group.
Omg
@@rundeldejesus8381 same interest tho
@@soaribb32 actually no. That’s why she’s still with Hollywood Records. Didn’t you watch Dancing with the Devil Episode 3? She said when she woke up from the hospital, the first thing she said was “I want new management”
th-cam.com/video/cwhsWk5fd4A/w-d-xo.html
Madison is Demi's little sister. They have a very close and special bond. Demi became sober the first time because her parents told her that if she continued to do drugs she wouldn't be able to see her anymore. In a twisted and heartbreaking way, those words kind of became true. When Demi woke up in the hospital after her overdose, her sister Madison was the one at her bedside and Demi didn't know it was her because she couldn't see.
Definitely her best album, the collabs work so well, her vocals being better than ever and the message, just IMMACULATE

Almost the whole album is marked !! That’s how you know it’s a Demi Lovato album 😉💎❤️
Yaz, but her past albums aren't even that cohesive as her new.
Her last album was far away best of any album she released thought since 2015 all the albums released are so good
Demi's fault wbk 💖
