As a guy myself, Siya was very good at explaining everything. He's very easy to listen to and understand. Most people don't know how to explain things and talk to a camera. So thanks Siya.
One more tip. Ones you found that pack you like, put some weight in it and see how it holds up. Almost any pack will feel comfy when empty, but it's not till you add 30lb you will really feel how all those straps and backsupport will feel on you. Most stores have sandbags they can add.
thanks so much for the video. I just realized that my bagpack was so unkomfortabel because it was set to large at my spinal length instead of XS. Now it feels so much better
I just bought my first real good quality backpack from Tatonka recently and I'm so in love with it. A good backpack really is the key to a happy traveller :)
These tips came in handy today, bought myself a nice lil pack to walk the Camino de Santiago next month. Difficult to find myself a bag though, as I also eventually measured as an extra small at the shop I bought mine at... but because I'm pretty tall at 5'8", associates kept putting me in the wrong size at MEC haha. Never realized how disproportionate my torso was... oh well!
Thanks for this video. I have tested a lot of bags, but I haven't been able to test a hiking bag. THis gives me so much of information. Now I just "need" a vacation where I need to use a hiking bag haha.
LOL!!! Siya's Nemo bag!!! lol...The magenta one is cute! But I do love the Aqua one you picked! Beautiful colour!...ugh but Siya's pick has the extra day pack and camel pack compartment... oh man...decisions!!! Sail's my favourite too, I like it more than MEC. I just can never decide on a good back pack so always end up using regular ones which end up hurting my shoulders or making me sweaty... I'll have to go soon since I leave in a week and a half for my road trip! :)
+Maribel Marin I'm seriously obsessed with my bag. It fits amazingly, and doesn't hurt my shoulders or back. I also discovered it has a built in laundry bag - PLUS!!!
I really loved this video. Although I already bought a backpack for me, this reassured me that I have made perfect choice. I use 40ltr backpack Quechua Forclaz Air. ^_^ Not too large, not too small.
Thank you much for making this video. My last bag was obviously (after watching this) was not write for me! I think i will find a perfect pack now!! THANK YOU :)
hello from finnish traveller. i use osprey ariel 65. the color is amazing and it feels so light. bought it couple months ago. Just loving it! now in ireland travelling with it. Ps. love you guys! :) pps. sorry for bad english ;D
This is the type of sponsored content I really like. We KNOW you love the shop, we KNOW it's a great place for travellers to shop at, might as well get sponsored to tell us :) And the video was very informative, thank you :)
Do you ever get nervous about someone accessing your bag from behind if you not paying attention? I'm always nervous about that because I can't see what's happening behind me.
A lot of backpacks are designed to prevent that. I have the Osprey Farpoint 40L, and there is no way anyone could get into it without me knowing. All the zippers can be tucked in under the cinching straps that have decent sized buckles. I would definitely feel if someone were trying to unhook the buckles, let alone try to unzip it. Never had a problem with it when traveling around Asia for six months.
I carry a smaller backpack on the front for all your valuables and important things. Thieves are welcomed to go through my main backpack for all my clothes I’ll leave my dirty underwear easily accessible.
Very good video. I bought my first backpack in January for Thailand and could have definitely used it. ;) I got the deuter aircontact sl 55+10 which is not carryonsize anymore but I love it so much. Your Gregory looks pretty nice as well.
Depends if I'm on a plane or in the car. If its a couple days to a week I do backpack (Wonder Woman/Beauty & The Beast/or Brown Leather Fringe), otherwise I use my Amelia medium cargo luggage from Burlington's Coat Factory..
+Kristen Sarah I've been looking for suitcase-opening backpacks similar to the Kathmandu 55L oe wayfarer pack. Do you know of any that open like a backpack but have structured spine support, made for small women?
I travel backpack since last year. I've sold all my suitcases, bought an Osprey Farpoint 55 as a carry-on bag, and an Osprey Ariel 65 for hiking + backpacking. Those are my favorite travel gear! I first bought the Osprey Sirrus 36 for day hikes, and because it was SO comfortable, I got the Sirrus 24 that I currently use at work where I'm carrying my wallet, my tablet and all my work stuff (I'm a nurse who visit patients at home). It is my **AWESOME** Osprey pack collection! 😃🎒.
Awesome awesome tips. Needing to replace my old heavy Gregory 50 finally, way too impractical these days. That fitting tool looks super handy, sad there's no SAIL out in Vancity - would be nice to have a reputable alternative to MEC. Will defs share eith my travel folks! Cheers girl!
awesome tips ,... Thanks , I may use a backpack when I do my trip out to BC again this year , last year I used a suit case and a carry on bag when I went out to BC from Ontario on the Greyhound bus but I will have to check and see what the sizes of backpacks are for carry on .
You guys have awesome advice. I am in the market for a new pack and am currently trying to decide. You didn't mention Deuter, I have been told it's the best? do you have any opinions on it?
I was wondering if anyone would know.. last year I Bought the Osprey Escapist 32 bag that I didn't get to use and I planed to travel with it and with a suitcase for couple of monthes.. now I'm planing 3.5 months in south america and I was wondering if I should've got a bigger bag for all of my things (and pass the suitcase) or use this bag as my main bag with another smaller backpack. any suggestins?
Great tips but two major flaws many of us face. Firstly, we don't always get the scope fo choice of brands or bags e.g. for me Fjallraven, or even a particualr model. Second, the sales staff ap[ear highly informed, rarely does that seem the case. Therefore a buyer has to become educated; and frankly a PhD in bags is required as there are far too many to choose from, and then we are faced with guessing when buying from the internet and that becomes a pot luck. Now to measure my back...this shouls be fun!
As a guy myself, Siya was very good at explaining everything. He's very easy to listen to and understand. Most people don't know how to explain things and talk to a camera. So thanks Siya.
Thanks Chris. I like when explanations are easy to understand. Appreciate the feedback!
The world needs more people like Rebecca, so helpful & knowledgeable.. wish there were more employees like her at other stores.

How come you got a top loading bag vs a suitcase style bag?
That store looks so fun
Thanks for posting, I am switching from suitcase to backpack
This video was more helpful than the first one I clicked which happened to be a big commercial to sell their brand bags lol
For me as harry

She wore Lord Ganesh's picture t-shirt 👍 a big thumbs up...
Looking for backpacks for wife, daughter and myself. Thanks for the great tips..!
Thanks for this video. I have tested a lot of bags, but I haven't been able to test a hiking bag. THis gives me so much of information. Now I just "need" a vacation where I need to use a hiking bag haha.

I really loved this video. Although I already bought a backpack for me, this reassured me that I have made perfect choice. I use 40ltr backpack Quechua Forclaz Air. ^_^ Not too large, not too small.

This is the type of sponsored content I really like. We KNOW you love the shop, we KNOW it's a great place for travellers to shop at, might as well get sponsored to tell us :)
And the video was very informative, thank you :)
+bunny m It's the only sponsorship I will ever do. I will only ever work with brands I believe in and use. You can hold me to that :)
+Kristen Sarah That's what we love you for!
I still have my pack that i went to school with.lol.It's a jans sport.It's made of canvas.so it's solid.yes i still use it.and i have it packed.
Do you ever get nervous about someone accessing your bag from behind if you not paying attention? I'm always nervous about that because I can't see what's happening behind me.
brittney n i do to!! And to avoid getting mugged i just rock back and forth so i can immediatly feel it if someone tries to reach in it
brittney You can buy key chanes an put your zippers together just dont check your bag with them on they might cut your zippers off.
A lot of backpacks are designed to prevent that. I have the Osprey Farpoint 40L, and there is no way anyone could get into it without me knowing. All the zippers can be tucked in under the cinching straps that have decent sized buckles. I would definitely feel if someone were trying to unhook the buckles, let alone try to unzip it. backpack and a smaller duffel bag if it's an extended trip somewhere and I don't have to be hauling all my stuff with me all the time
I travel backpack since last year. I've sold all my suitcases, bought an Osprey Farpoint 55 as a carry-on bag, and an Osprey Ariel 65 for hiking + backpacking. Those are my favorite travel gear!

yes i'm planning on moving to Asia
This is in Canada, man I'm so jealous!

Hahah both! Rebecca is very tall and I'm short (5'2")
Yea.. I guessed it right.. She must be 5'2" and rebecca is 5.10 or 5.111
awesome!
First time I've seen a Pack Sizer. I prefer to use a luggage case with wheels, but still interesting info =)
Very interesting tips. Thx guys
Greetings from Belgium
Erik

Nice Video! Thx!!

Could you include the link of the backpacks you ended up buying? Nice video! Thanks.

+Jason Glu Thanks Jason!
Do you have any recommendations for best front loading backpacks. I found some are not lightweight thus makes long hike feels too uncomfortable.
Can you link what bags you brought Xx

those are some intense bags!!!!!
Nice video!!!
Good video
Can you use the Osprey aether 60 as a carry on?
Does anyone know how to lock the Gregory bags? I purchased the amber 70L and was curious if there's a way to lock it
So they actually turned the whole thing into a science. :D
Good job
Can rucksack will be used for normal traveling?
I know delta American and Hawaiian have all told me 45L is the same size as a carryon.
You guys have awesome advice. I am in the market for a new pack and am currently trying to decide. You didn't mention Deuter, I have been told it's the best? do you have any opinions on it?

What backpack size can I use for traveling carry on only?
40 or 45l
