    So long as you understand that you get exactly what you pay for in small stakes your good. It all sounds great in theory but we all know bad players can make bad calls and still win.

    One of the things I'm learning playing small stakes is there are many total calling stations, so, the odd subtle bluff is just totally lost on them and they just call anyway. Strangely when I bet big they just don't believe me and call, or raise all-in, yet a small bet has them assuming I must have a big hand, so no money goes in, which can make for a very strange chech - check - check game. So I'm usually not afraid to bet bigger because they just never believe you have it.

      What stakes are you playing. What site are you playing on. Doesnt it feel like they are calling you so hard to the point its like they see your cards? Bro ive placed a bluff so strong once and it was called by jack high. That was a point i knew that this guy either had my preflop raise chart on point (3x with 5d 6 d) on WSOP i dont bother playing because these 10 dollar tournaments even 30 or 55 cannot be presumed legit. Youd be more likely to win a 2k tourney just shipping it with the best lf it everytime. Game predetermines ur strategy too. You either run like a dragon or run like a trout.

      If ur gonna keep playing "legal online poker" you should focus roght off the bat on running like god. And betting hands that are good and making sure ur also hitting. Sometimes you gotta make tough calls and somehow end up on top. Theres times where i feel i should fold a draw but the softwares sucks me out and im just like well i knew that guy had a set i didnt think i would hit. Just leave it to the poker gods bro try to hit in those tough situations. Not all the time but when instinctually u think fold take 10 more seconds. Remember its online poker and if ur cards comes out on the flop u could imagine them on the turn and river as well. Theres no point in hero calling in online poker that makes no sense. Low stakes. Yeah you should check raise i guess because the other guy could be completely tryna bluff u because he knows what ur holding lol. You might as well just keep raising to see where hes at and just go all in dependant on the ridiculousness of his sizings. Sometimes you gotta pay to find out wtf people are betting with.

      I could just call with aces and everyo e will fold. I can raise with 10 9 or jack 10 or 8 6 or whatever hand bro and get raised or 5 callers the game is now called set up not poker

      This is mostly very low stakes on Pokerstars or GGPoker. I generally only play good starting hands (17%) then bluff at a 25%ish rate of those that miss. Clearly it gets easier to bluff at higher stakes, as decisions to call light/bluff catch have more risk. I really want/need to move to higher stakes, because people just don't care about calling, because they aren't really losing anything if they lose, and might make any sort of call to try and catch you bluffing. I try and play deep stacked games as it seems like a much more thoughtful game, whereas short stacked games can just end up being a bun fight until you start to build a stack and get some respect. I try to vary my bet size, but not always bet the same with the same cards. But also I will deliberately play 'face up' for a while, until other players think they 'know my game', then play my best hands like I played when I had junk before and hope to stack them. Clearly this is easier to do deep stacked than short stacked.

      I'd say maybe adjust your ranges. With draws you want callers anyway, and with big hands, bet big. Then you should get paid off, right? Just don't play total garbage hands. Maybe I'm wrong though.

I was already a decent poker player before I found your content, but learning some more information from you has helped me go from and up and down player, would make some money, but not consistently. I'd give a bunch back before going on another run and making it back and then some. To now, the worst I do is go down 2-3 buy ins, and it's mostly just variance. I still some discipline issue's too, but I'm getting better at that every day. After all I've been learning off your TH-cam, at this point I just need to get the discipline to be more consistent and I'll be making even more.

    Hi Jonathan, quick question I can't find an answer to online. What do you typically do in early position post-flop after leading pre-flop with good pocket cards that miss on the flop? I feel like the late position I'm facing get to raise for free and put me in a hard position to call every time, but obviously don't always hit the flop either.

    On small stakes SnG, the K4 hand against Q66 on the flop is a Very Common situation. Normally I Go against "fit or fold" players, so If they bet on that flop I check/fold because no betting would get him to fold a pair of Q or any 6s. Against solid players a check raise there usually Works well. My question is, what range of hands should we play on the blinds? Since I dont usually defend the blinds, is any hand worth It depending on the player? (Since my playstyle is more exploitable poker)

    Watched this video twice now looking for this but I couldn’t find it. With Exploit #2 I had two questions. 1) what’s a “small” raise in a check-raise? 2) In the GTO charts, why are all the pocket pairs greyed out. Would you not check if you hold 66 for quads?

    • @PokerCoaching
      @PokerCoaching  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You should go all-in preflop with 66 here, so you wouldn't have it in range.

    • @PokerCoaching
      @PokerCoaching  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Also, a small check-raise is something like 3x vs a small bet. As the bet size gets bigger, your raise should get smaller though. So if someone bets 2/3 pot, you should just make a 2.2x range in most spots.

      If your opponents will call larger raises with the same wide range, then raising larger could be better. On the KK hand... if we bet 2/3 pot into that draw heavy board and a heart or ace comes on the turn then opponent blasts it’s so tough bc we’re already invested 25% of our stack. Having overpairs I tend to play passive, with a lot of check behinds and allowing villains to hang themself. I prefer to do a lot of turn betting bc of the weakness shown on the flop and lowered variance with only 1 card to come. Still retain value without investing half my stack by the turn and stuck with impossible decision on opponent jams when the draws do get there on the river by bloating SPR without any significant blockers. If I had K hearts then I feel more comfortable with getting 3 streets of value or calling blast offs. Maybe I’m a nit, but suit blockers mean a lot to me in those situations. Or if I have 10’s/J’s i’ll go for 3 streets as well.

    I was just at a casino and tried bluff raising the flop after watching this video (although there was a 3rd player invovled). Funny thing. I had 6 5 off and the flop came 10 6 4 rainbow. The preflop raiser put $20 into a pot of $60 (as did villain #2) and I raised $60 more to make the pot $160. Preflop raiser REALLY hemmed and hawed for like 3 minutes and finally folded (he had A 10!) but mainly because the guy to his right was rushing to shove. When I saw that I knew I was beat.
    Anyhow preflop raiser folded and 2nd villain shoved $95 forcing me to put $35 more into the pot or fold. I decided to call hoping for salvation on the turn/river. It was just 2 blank cards. So what did he have? J 4 off, LOL. My "bluff" ended up netting me $285

    When you say "people don't fold pairs or draws against any reasonable bet", is that based on your observation of the small stakes player pool? And is that recent experience? I don't feel like it matches my (admittedly still fairly limited) experience, which tells me that some small stakes players will fold e.g. some draws to a 75%-80% pot bet but call 50% ish. I'm not saying all of them. I'm just saying that I think it might vary more than you're admitting here.

    Tried something like the first example today at Ocean's 11. Pocket aces UTG, raised 5bb and got five callers (!). Flop gave me inside draw to a wheel and backdoor to a flush. Bet 50% pot, got one caller. Didn't improve, guy called my all in, he flopped trip 3s, I'm out. Boo.

    Not sure if you can always trust google. It says Jonathon Little has 60 M in total tournament earnings. seems a bit excessive.

    Low stakes players that can see your hands are bluffing.. If they know they can get you off your hand... But they are also value betting if they know they are ahead. Theres no solver for that!

    Tried it on a 2$ on gg ,bet big on the flop--> getstacked by 2p, checkraise-- get called by ace high. thin value- get called by better pair. Online poker be dead.
