Hi there, I’m the granddaughter of Bobby Byrd and want to thank you for keeping his legacy, our family’s legacy, alive 🫶🏾

Hiya, your grandpa was... and still is a legend, I been playing music now for 50 years, played on over 20 albums produced 6 and 2 gold. I always thought thought Mr Byrd had a more interesting voice than James ... but Mr Brown sure could dance.
All I hope is they're up there in heaven taking the house. down.. You can be very proud of his legacy 🌹 RIP Bobby Byrd. 👑🙏🙏

Growing up in 1960s Detroit, James Brown is the first music I remember in my lifetime. These days my FAVORITE JB clips are with Mr. Bobby Byrd in them.

Thank you for paying tribute to the amazing Bobby Byrd.
I am the founder of the record label Samarian Entertainment, and the biggest James Brown fan alive, but I am also a huge fan of the incomparable Bobby Byrd.
I happen to be one of the few people who knows the history of this legendary artist and his contribution to the career of James Brown and to music in general. His official title should be “The Pioneer of Soul”❤

I love this and let me just add one correction:
Many people believe that James Brown would never have had the same level of success without Bobby Byrd. That’s incorrect. The truth is that James Brown would have never been heard of AT ALL without Byrd.
Byrd discovered James and gave James a career.
Without Bobby Byrd, there’s a strong possibility that James would have stayed in prison and become a career criminal.
That’s Bobby Byrd’s contribution to music

You told "nothing but the truth", brother. I've loved James Brown since the moment I saw him . . . and I've loved Bobby Byrd!! He has been there throughout most of JB's career - often hyping JB as much as anybody could!! Bobby, there is a large number of people that know who you are, and what you did for funk music! I KNOW you got soul!!!

Bobby's father was a well-respected church leader in the community. He wrote a letter to the warden of the juvenile detention center, where Brown was serving time. In the letter Bobby's father said, in his letter, that he felt Brown was a changed young man and guaranteed him place to live upon his release. This helped Brown get an early release.

I visited James Browns band with Bobby Bird in the concert hall of Amsterdam 1970. Fantastic workmanship together. And dont forget with Lynn Collins. Later I saw Bobbybirdband with his wife, ladysinger, in Maastricht in his old age.⁷

Today, James Brown is known as “The Godfather of Soul.”
But, in the Fifties and Sixties, NOBODY called him by that nickname.
NOBODY!! That nickname was a ‘70’s-80’s thing.
Back in the FIFTIES and SIXTIES, James was known as
    “ MISTER DYNAMITE!!”

Real good information, Bobby Byrd l always liked his singing as well as James Brown, didn’t like the way JB treated his musicians, l saw Bobby Byrd perform 1 times with James Brown in Seattle Washington back in the 80’s at the Show Box, never saw Bobby Byrd live after that, l don’t understand, well maybe l do, that entertainers make it and treat people so bad, l guess it’s a all about me thing?

Byrd was a good man and my friend. He would come around from time to time trying to get his money from Brown but always managed to get away. I feel sorry for Bobby, but he was not the only one that got gotten as I had my moments with Brown, not as big but still! More later in my book one day!

Bobby Byrd was to laid back and James Brown took advantage of his kindness, Bobby should have grabbed James by his collar a few times, since James cowardly whooped up on women, history would have been rewritten about thier relationship.

ANOTHER fact that this video DIDN’T point out…was that, although THE FLAMES first BEGAN as a Vocal/Instrumental group, that group BROKE UP after just THREE SESSIONS. After that , ALL FUTURE VERSIONS of THE FAMOUS FLAMES were VOCAL GROUPS ONLY…with NO instrumental members, as Brown then hired the JC DAVIS BAND to back him and the now all-vocal FAMOUS FLAMES from then on.
See “The FAMOUS FLAMES” in Wikipedia.

My question for Mr. Byrd is: if Mr. Brown was that bad, how come he couldn’t leave very early on, and forge his own career??

    • @jamesmcallister8655

He knew he could be a good performer but recognized JB,s talent and knew JB could take them to the next level and beyond. That is why JB became the lead and star of the group. It's a shame that Bobby was not rightfully compensated for his part in the group as well as the others.
