    My question for Mr. Byrd is: if Mr. Brown was that bad, how come he couldn’t leave very early on, and forge his own career??

    Gotta mention early Three 6 Mafia. Lord Infamous is so forgotten in the community but he was inspirational in the early 90s. Smaller acts like KGP, Bedlam and Defekt are the shits I grew up on. Along with everything Hatchet, obviously.

      Hiya, your grandpa was... and still is a legend, I been playing music now for 50 years, played on over 20 albums produced 6 and 2 gold. I always thought thought Mr Byrd had a more interesting voice than James ... but Mr Brown sure could dance. All I hope is they're up there in heaven taking the house. down.. You can be very proud of his legacy 🌹 RIP Bobby Byrd. 👑🙏🙏

    Bobby's father was a well-respected church leader in the community. He wrote a letter to the warden of the juvenile detention center, where Brown was serving time. In the letter Bobby's father said, in his letter, that he felt Brown was a changed young man and guaranteed him place to live upon his release. This helped Brown get an early release.

    ANOTHER fact that this video DIDN’T point out…was that, although THE FLAMES first BEGAN as a Vocal/Instrumental group, that group BROKE UP after just THREE SESSIONS. After that , ALL FUTURE VERSIONS of THE FAMOUS FLAMES were VOCAL GROUPS ONLY…with NO instrumental members, as Brown then hired the JC DAVIS BAND to back him and the now all-vocal FAMOUS FLAMES from then on. See “The FAMOUS FLAMES” in Wikipedia.

    There's a major piece of information you left out: Gravediggaz was formed in response to Flatlinerz who had gotten signed to Def Jam because one of the Flatlinerz was Russell Simmons' nephew. Gravediggaz felt that Flatlinerz' Satanic lyrics were too negative and wanted to beat Flatlinerz to the market by putting out a horrorcore album first and having an underlying positive message to counteract Flatlinerz' Satanic lyrics.

    Another Important Fact that this video did NOT point out…was that THE FAMOUS FLAMES (including BOBBY BYRD), were inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012…and The Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame in 2020.

    Am I the only one that notices that Bootsy made a mistake on “soul power” and threw the second half of side one off completely? (Man wait, I don’t just love Bootsy the bass player, but Bootsy the man! If you don’t love Boots then something is seriously wrong with. He’s a beautiful human being.) Anyway yep. After the first break…(Git it… Put it back) after they finish the horn break, Boots starts out right but gets lost and extends the first measure. It’s not the same 4/4 as the beginning of the record. All you gotta do is count. It’s a 8 beat measure. So if it don’t end on 8 it’s wrong. You still the nastiest Boots. But I’m dying to know if y’all noticed that

    Today, James Brown is known as “The Godfather of Soul.” But, in the Fifties and Sixties, NOBODY called him by that nickname. NOBODY!! That nickname was a ‘70’s-80’s thing. Back in the FIFTIES and SIXTIES, James was known as “ MISTER DYNAMITE!!”

  • @williamg2552
    @williamg2552 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    ANOTHER THING that Historians fail to point out, is that, after the Original Flames BROKE UP, James and Bobby REBOOTED the FLAMES into a VOCAL GROUP EXCLUSIVELY, with NO INSTRUMENTAL MEMBERS, as by this time, James hired the J.C. DAVIS Band to provide the backup music…thus the NUMEROUS CLAIMS that THE FAMOUS FLAMES were an Instrumental Band were and are, INCORRECT. Check “THE FAMOUS FLAMES“ in Wikipedia for PROOF. Also, watch James verify this fact HIMSELF , in this 1982 Clip with DAVID LETTERMAN at THIS LINK : th-cam.com/video/436AWqoysyY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=NzRLnpWEiU6I1ASy

    Byrd was a good man and my friend. He would come around from time to time trying to get his money from Brown but always managed to get away. I feel sorry for Bobby, but he was not the only one that got gotten as I had my moments with Brown, not as big but still! More later in my book one day!

    You told "nothing but the truth", brother. I've loved James Brown since the moment I saw him . . . and I've loved Bobby Byrd!! He has been there throughout most of JB's career - often hyping JB as much as anybody could!! Bobby, there is a large number of people that know who you are, and what you did for funk music! I KNOW you got soul!!!
