Rachel's growth as a character was the best next to Chandler's. She just kept getting better. Out of the all the three Green sisters, even early on, she was the best. And let's just appreciate that because she did come from the same family and the same society from which her friends, whom we met in season 1, came. In fact its weird how in later seasons, she easily became one of the most adjustable friends. She had lived with 5 of them without no serious glitch. Even Phoebe chose Rachel as more easy-going. Given how she was in season 1, I thought it was amazing to see her grow. We see her develop her skills as well. And for the 'popular girl' character, she was quite dorky and not that much of a snooty person. I know she is a tv character and had her flaws but given how people are hell bent on hating her, I thought a little appreciation can be done. Out of all the girls, I found her quite funny without being too out there. Jennifer Aniston really did the character well. The emotional scenes of Rachel Green were well done.
She wouldn't have gotten there without Monica's help, though. When Rachel needed help the most, everyone kicked in a bit to help, but none as much as Monica. She shared her apartment with her, taught her how to be financially responsible and how to stand on her own as an independent adult. In a later episode, her sister mentions how Rachel is the only daughter their father is proud of, because she pulled herself up without their help and made it on her own. Her father is proud of all the things she did on her own, which also happen to be all the things that Monica taught her how to do. Not just Monica, but since they lived together for a long time, most of the vitally important things came from her. I love Rachel's character growth on the show, especially in the earlier seasons but Monica is often overlooked as the quiet support that made it happen and never seemed to get the recognition she deserves for that. Rachel obviously loves her, but almost no one ever actually mentions or verbally appreciates how it was her support that allowed Rachel to take that journey of growth.
rachel is so overhated in my opinion. shes one of the funniest characters. her small little lines with the specific deliveries make her relatable to me
@@diyakm7633 I know. I was just asserting who I consider to be “great actresses” like the guy who asserted the comment that he thinks Jennifer Aniston is a great actress. It’s called freedom of speech. I dont get why Rachel gets so much hate. She is legit a Decent Friend, even a Good and Great Friend in occasions. She is really good by heart. Then what's the problem People??
Because she's a twat and even Jennifer Anniston said in an interview she'll never be friend with someone like her. Then there's beta human like you who somehow defend every horrendous things she did and said. You might not see it because it's always covered with laugh track. But do you think daddy's girl that is always pointing fingers at others, being toxic and demeaning with her supposed love life (and sabotaging every relationship Ross have), even can only muster 80% happiness for her Monica (her supposed best friend who took care of her when she has nowhere to go) when she's having a big moment of her life? C'mon dude get a grip. This woman is basically amber turd-low level irl
Rachel is my favorite, she has an evolution, she is human, she’s funny and emotional, sweet and the fact that she didn’t marry “her Barry”, the fact that she had that strength to start living what she wanted even with all the difficulties and challenges, that makes her one of the best characters in the show. Every friend is important and teaches a couple of things to the audience, Rachel taught me to fight for what makes me happy, in my own time, without forgetting to be kind, she taught me that emotional people (like me) can win their fights even when they feel lost. If you don’t understand the importance of Rachel in friends that’s just not loving the show, okay, you may not have the same understanding about her, you may not see yourself in the tinniest way possible in her, but she’s not “mean” or “toxic”, saying that it’s just disrespectful towards the people that love Rachel
@@estrela24 I sort of look at her completely in the opposite way. Completely unfunny on the show, the only thing that ever kept any of the audience interest in her was who she was dating. And she couldn’t commit to the one man who really loved her out of stubbornness or stupidity. She had the least realistic job arc I’ve ever seen. Waitress to fashion buyer in three years? Right. She’s kind of a cliché in the sense that she does what she think is right for her, and then in the final analysis ends up alone at 35, raising a child. As her plot lines became more vapid over the last half of the show, Chandler and Monica became the better couple to have interest in. At least they had somewhat realistic jobs, situations, challenges, and in the end it was their moving away that end of the series- not Rachel’s never-ending navel-gazing self obsession.
@@kd8opi we have different points of view and that’s fine. I think the preferences are also related to the type of humor that one finds most entertaining. 1:24 In the episode where they’re having a New Year’s Eve party and Rachel gets assaulted by that horrid woman, if it were in real life I would hope they would’ve taken here to a hospital to get her head checked for a bad concussion after that woman hits Rachel’s head on the curb as well as her giant fat lip…might need a few stitches there and also a possibility of infection too. Probably worst character on the show.
