Coming from a Subie and a Honda guy, I love this build. I love the boxer engine but it's not without limitations and definitely not as durable as a KSeries.
i personally know 2 guys one with a 2016 wrx the other had a 2015 wrx hatchback and both blew the bearings on the crank and eventually knocked themselves to death. Now the guy with the 2015 blew his block under warranty at around 40k miles, got a new block for Subaru and then sold the car. Now the guy with the 2016 , he went through two blocks, and the 2nd went out with a couple hundred miles on a highway trip. Both cars were completely stock. You can take a look at NAOISC, and everyone recommends replacing them with an aftermarket shortblock if you want to actually drive the car.
Subaru engines are best NA and stock. As a guy who used to love them, it took the experience of watching my friends break constantly and another friend working for Subaru to realize they aren’t all that reliable. K20s do better under boost and they weren’t even designed for it. Few other manufacturers have made anything that offers what the K-series does. The only thing I would want more out of them is torque. Which Honda seems to have remedied with the new generation K engines
Idk man, i have an ej22 and i abuse the PISS out of it daily, and she's holding up just fine. i keep up with the maintenance on it and at 234k she could either go any second or go another 234k no problem, that depends entirely on how i treat the engine. remember, metal parts all eventually wear down and break. My EJ however has yet to break so i'm not nearly a concerned as most these people are here. i beat an integra after work yesterday and we're both stock. No big feature and we didn't even break 80 mph so fuck it. I say they both reliable so long as you take care of your shit.

This Crazy Tangerine a stock k can do over 500 stock, I had a friend with an 07 Si making 480whp ran the kit from 110k miles all the way to 180k miles when he sold the car, weak point was the tranny motor can handle a lot of power
my guess is that they were turning off the lights to catch the fire coming from the exhaust so the camera can see it... to me that's the pretty obvious guess.

Cobb still does this, which may explain the longevity of the use among subaru owners. Someone on a tuner forum also mentioned that there could be ties to old British tuning culture. Either way it is a mostly outdated terminology among car enthusiasts. Even among those who tune and modify Subarus past engine management "stage 1", there is little correlation or definition of subsequent "stages". I never even heard of it before I started watching TH-cam videos of modified Subarus.
Or hey, just some baffles. Instead of like u know, block mods, oil pan, pump, pulleys, bracket, belt, oil tank, and a bunch of oil lines and fittings. Makes a lot of sense.

A subie stage 2 is usually, intake, catless downpipe, full exhuast, and a ots/ dyno tune
It means not fast enough to touch a Kswap
Stage 2 is j pipe exhaust and intake
C Dubs only on 2015+ for that though because 2014- dont have j pipes
