Thank you for taking this video & posting it. ❤ We would load up our old RV and drive the 12 hours to Jasper almost every summer since we "discovered" it back in 2006. If someone asked me where my favorite vacation destination was, it was always Jasper with Paris (France) coming in second, and don't get me wrong, I LOVE Paris. That's how much I adored Jasper and I wouldn't even consider myself a mountain girl. But the beauty. . . . it's just so incredibly breathtaking. I am so beyond grateful that we visited just 2&1/2 weeks before the fires and got to see this lovely town with it's lovely people one more time before it was forever changed. I have cried so many times for Jasper, the people who live there, the beautiful places we loved to visit and all of the wildlife affected. It will always be my favorite place. Peace, love and hope to the citizens of Jasper!
Jasper townsite cannot be replaced. It was genuine and authentic, and it didn't suffer the sweeping, tacky redevelopment that ruined each of Banff, Fernie, Revelstoke, Lake Louise..... It will be rebuilt...but will never have the original charm. After many years of annual visits, I'm SO grateful we returned again last summer, after a 15-year absence. Everything we loved was still there, and the relaxed vibe was the same. God bless the Jasper residents now in their efforts to put their lives and paradise back together.
I am one of the evacuees. My family and i were staying in the chateau Jasper when we got the order to leave. 10 pm we threw everything in the truck and headed west. We inched our way through gridlock traffic taking 4 hours to the outskirts of town. The drive west took 7 hours to Valemont, then on to Kamloops. So far the evacuation was smooth and orderly. No one panicked, and the traffic showed courtesy. I am thankful for being safe, but heartbroken for the good people of Jasper who lost everything.
Obviously I can’t compare these 2 tragedies as thousands if not millions were killed in these places and nobody was killed in Jasper, but the pictures I saw of the destruction of Jasper was so reminiscent of somewhere like Ukraine or Syria. Will Jasper look like a warzone from now on?
We all respect the civility of people living in Jasper, our neighbours. Its a beautiful town before, one of the most beautiful and charming place where I have been. We are all very sorry for this loss and we are sure we can rebuild certain things there for our memories. May the Lord bless all for better things to come.

We lived in Edmonton most of our lives and went to Jasper often. Camped for years, then more often stayed in hotels. We skied at Marmot. In the summer we canoed on the lakes and rivers. We loved the rustic, homey atmosphere of Jasper. It was authentic and did not become a glitzy playground for the rich as is Banff. We pray Jasper can be restored to its former charm. And our hearts go out to all the wildlife that must have been lost.
Great capture of the town prior to it’s historical losses. I really appreciated the footage without commentary or any intro because it gives the viewer a chance to create their own and to truly visually experience it. Thanks for this and I will definitely be sharing and rewatching it going forward.

Obviously they wanted it to burn. All they had to do was douse the town with water while the fire burned at the outskirts. Embers falling on a wet roof don't catch the building on fire. Easy but so many excuses. Now the town has to be rebuilt, people's lives are upside down and tourism suffers. Ridiculous.
Oh wow, what amazing timing. The plot of don't look up seems more relevant ever year we progress. A wildfire barrelling down on a town & people are just going about their business. Smoke in the air & only one loose fitting cloth mask. A premiere who has chronically under funded climate response, funded oil/gas/pipelines but cries about loosing a treasured memory. I always wanted to visit, I've seen many a hiking/bike packing video on YT about the place. We were going to visit Vancouver this year but didn't want to go outside of early spring due to fire risk. Very sad news.
Wow, Sad to see it go, but much could have been saved just by employing steel roofing and steel siding. It is obvious that no one watched why the homes burned in the California Park Fire which had a 7 year old 80 foot tall stand of J D Irving eastern red pine (eastern red pine grows 70 feet in 30 years here in New Brunswick) exploded into flame when a PG&E power line failed and that town has too much exterior cedar siding and roofing, so did Jasper!. Sorry to be critical but I would not even build a home in the soggy Maritimes without 100% steel exterior, (roof siding and steel doors/steel window frames) with gravel mulch around the base all built on a concrete footing. I'd even run my gypsum/lime-stoned mixed driveway around the buildings as gypsum kills even most grass and weeds. As you rebuild, please think about what I said above. Also instead of flammable fabric canopies why not install large 400 or 575 watt solar panels over steel picnic tables! If we think a little maybe the new Jasper can be a green Jasper and maybe a model for all other Canadian towns!! Glad everyone got enough advanced warning, to escape!!
Abandoning such beautiful villages, towns and even cities? It never fails to astonish me how the Canadian government usually handles wildfires. Unbelievably irresponsible and ineffective governing style IMHO!
WTH????? What do you mean by "abandoning such beautiful villages"???? Should people not evacuate and just stay there to die???? Please do tell us how they should "handle" a RAGING wildfire????
@@gregd6706 Why can't the government organize and gather resources together such as chainsaws and construction machinery to build fire stop gaps/zones, plus fire trucks, water pumps and sprinkler systems so key areas are watered thoroughly and continuously to prevent buildings from catching fire?
Jasper, sacrificed upon the alter of capitalism. I wonder if Albertans will make the connection between this tragedy and the largest industry in their province
There is no need for any direct energy weapon. Lightning strikes and human caused fires are not predictable or controllable when the temperature is above 30c and the relative humidity is below 30 with winds gusting above 30k.. that 30 30 30 situation is unfortunately more common lately. Hopefully next summer is different.
Before Maui there was Fort McMurray. Before Fort McMurray there was Slave Lake and on and on.. the conditions that cause these types of fire are more common. Regardless of how we got here we need to pay attention and adapt.

Who wants all Canadian towns to be the same.
Sounds like you like steel and glass and cement .
ALMIGHTY GOD IS NOT PLAYIN ' WITH YOU PEOPLE 😎🎸
Doesn't make sense so far from the trees .
Wall of fire?
Ok commie, move to China
DEW, WE WILL NOT FORGET LAHAINA AUGUST OF 2023, THEY ARE TARGETING HISTORIC SITES ON PURPOSE!
@@livingmini5259 why would they
There is no need for any direct energy weapon. Lightning strikes and human caused fires are not predictable or controllable when the temperature is above 30c and the relative humidity is below 30 with winds gusting above 30k.. that 30 30 30 situation is unfortunately more common lately. Hopefully next summer is different.
@@pambp5978 you clearly do not know the situation with the world economic forum, smart cities, and how it began in Maui in 2023
Before Maui there was Fort McMurray. Before Fort McMurray there was Slave Lake and on and on.. the conditions that cause these types of fire are more common. Regardless of how we got here we need to pay attention and adapt.
@@livingmini5259 You clearly do not know that all that WEF scaremongering started on white supremacist groups and they hated the WEF because they thought they were all Jewish. Don’t believe everything you hear and watch out who you are getting into bed with online.
Looks like the kind of place where you get screwed on everything because of tourism.
Next time you vote use your common sense.
Oh well! Keep developing and traveling like drunkin sailors and entire world will bake!
Stay in your basement, world is scary place
Whole thing😂🤣
What's so funny?
How’s it funny ?
Stop building towns inside parks. Lodges and hotels are fine, but not entire towns.
Who do you think work in hotels, lodges, restaurants, etc? Tourists?
@@lvfreeAdventures Huh? Why do you need to build an entire town just to house a few hotels and lodges?
@@squatch545 do you understand over 2 millions people visit Jasper every year and you have around 5,000 living in the area. Do the math!
@@squatch545based on your comments you've never visited Jasper
@@canadian_shorts Do you understand that millions of people visit other types of wilderness parks, areas, mountains, wildlife safaris, etc that don't have entire towns built in the middle of them?
