Great selection. I bought Lalique Pour Homme EdP and Monsieur de Givenchy a while back on Dan's recommendation, and enjoy both. The Givenchy, with its pronounced lemon verbena note, makes a wonderful gardening scent on a warm spring day. Must check out the Aramis again, too; a Merc-driving doctor friend of mine back in the 1980s wore it as his signature and always smelt classy. I recall the Devin flanker being very nice too. Another couple of terrific classics readily available for around £20 are CK Obsession for Men and Davidoff Zino (the latter of which is a creditable alternative to Tom Ford's magnificent Beau de Jour PB).
I got sent an Aramis sample with an online order some months ago. I quite liked it. As a young woman in the 90s I loved wearing men’s fragrances and I love classics. Lovely selection.
Actually, for the price, I recently ended up getting the edt of Lalique Pour Homme and started layer it with my edp. Increases the projection quite a bit and adds the citrus that's missing in the edp. I really don't think you need both, but for an uber fanboy like moi, it's worth having both. Good call on New West Dan.
Tom Ford was in Rain man? The original Aramis perhaps ought to be in every ones collection, and yes a ridiculously low price. Gravitas could have easily been £150, Very long lasting but subtle at the same time, Like Pour Monsieur older formulations you get wonderful whiffs every now and then with Gravitas for 10 hours plus.
Lalique Pour Homme Lion EDP is a lovely scent but just doesn't project or last on my skin for more than about 3-4 hours at most. Such a shame. Boucheron Jaipur is a brilliant buy at £40 let alone £20. Very special for the money..Try the Pour Homme for a freshy..Another blinding buy...Faconable is belting. Thanks for the heads up on this one Dan👍👍
Dan, thanks for this list - you've put a few up on my radar. By the way, I blind-bought Gravitas, as it appears that both our preferences in fragrances seem to very much in alignment. All I can say is thank you so much for this. It is an absolutely gorgeous classy men's fragrance with some subtle unique touches to it. I love it, and gave it a 5 out of 5 stars on my first wearing and 6 out of 5 on the second. Yes, I track the fragrances I wear and rate them each time. A 6 basically means that at the time, I felt that it was a fragrance that I must ALWAYS have on-hand. Congratulations on it, and I look forward to any further creations by Naughton & Wilson.
I LOVE the Guerlain. I wear it and I make my husband wear it. He’s an over sprayer and it’s the only thing I can stand him to douse himself in. I love citrus.

I'm really glad to see Aramis on your list. I may only be 36 (so not super young, but not old I hope), and its one of my favourites. Since you mentioned it, I also like Kouros, but Aramis somehow seems much classier anyway. A better office scent (if I ever get back to the office), or for any form of formal event. While I would love to try Gravitas - I am a massive cheapskate.....so thats unlikely! Sorry ;)
Thanks a lot for the comment. I agree Aramis is classy stuff. I hope you can try Gravitas. It can be sampled at Fragrance Samples UK and Decant Boutique (USA).
Great list Mr Smelly. Boucheron pour homme and Caron le 3rd homme. Faconable a favorite of Cary Grant. Classic scent for a classic gentleman. Be well 😊 and thank you for your post.
Loved this, big fan of the classics and you always make me get my wallet out. Had facconable and new west in my basket for a while. I own Aramis and Lalique Lion pour homme, I really like the look of that Guerlain and executive shaving are real good, just ordered a few things from them including Pinaud Bay Rum which was ridiculously cheap and a new frag too. Great stuff Dan👍🏻🙏🏻
I was confused with Equs: edt v. edp. I have HOMMAGE à l'homme and love it. I've had Jaipur, can't remember if it was edt or edp but it is one of my favs for the pricing. I ignore the Brut because it reminds me of my dad🚫😅. Aramis has quite a few nice scents. Speaking of age once I wore a cologne and my friend says that what I was wearing smelled old man. For some reason that bothered me ha. I'm 43. That irks me more than someone saying that what I wear smells like a woman's perfume, but when I've worn Yatagan or Azzaro Pour Homme that definitely is masculine old school. I had to laugh when you mentioned K-Mart😅. I don't even know if we have any K-Marts left here. I can only say that as a kid my grandmother would drag me here and they really did have the "blue light" specials ugh. Speak about PTSD! Thanks for the great review Dan.
Cool, I see there are a lot of Tweed clones out there. I really like it, but I wonder if it's my childish nature or what, but through all the years there is one scent I still love the most and I don't know if it's appropriate :D I love Paco Rabanne Black XS. I remember I was buying it at school as a diluted cheap-o cologne, and it is still as good as it was back then. Is something wrong with me? :D
Great list, Mr. Smelly. Plain old Boucheron Pour Homme could easily make the list. I layer it over Prada Luna Rossa, but it stands just fine as an old school gentleman's fragrance. Let's Project!!! 💨💨💨💨💨💨
I enjoy Jicky too. I have Mouchoir de Monsieur which is sometimes considered a cousin to Jicky. It has a similarly lovely powdery wuakity combined with a little funk.
I work with a lot of females and every age group hates Aramis. Even the ones who said they used to like it. Was maligned in the White Gold comedy series. The implication being eighties twats wore Aramis.

Reviewers are becoming more like salesmen, it has become totally obvious, and whoever has some issues with this logic (selling different shit under disguise of "fragrance reviewing") is immediately called "hater", while criticism should be welcomed by creator (BUT they are primarily salesmen, not creative persons, so...); shame, what the reviewing scene has become...
Thank you for sharing your opinion Gregor. Of course not all negative opinions are mere “hate”. Aramis is a winner, but it's potent. Half a spray on the neck does the job for me, although I do not expect compliments when I wear it. I like it.
Thanks for sharing.

Oh my! Finally someone reviewed my all time favorite cologne been wearing since late 70's still going strong. Dan thanks for your honest review.
Aramis was my dad's favorite. Lost him last year at 78. I think I'm going to have to pick it up.
Sorry to hear that Jonathan . Still a great scent I say.
Givenchy Xeryus. I bought five classic bottles with the black cap for $40 each. I love this stuff.
Yo I have that - definitely an old school scent but I like it. Wear it on weekend mornings after a shave/shower to “get me going”
Thank you Sir, tempted to get Aramis! probably will, cheers for the Vid

+1 for the Caron.
