I lived in a high rise apartment in Alexandria, VA. They had a free shuttle to the metro station. About 20 to 25 people would be outside waiting for the shuttle, and no one talked to anyone else. I was the only one who tried to strike up conversations.
If I become a crypto multi millionaire, I would love to get a place in the Waldorf Astoria for the location. I like their units much more than Veers.
However, the condos in One Queensridge Place are so much nicer. Probably best thing would be live in WA for a few years to enjoy the strip, then once I get tired of it, move out to One Queensridge Place. However, I would want to see how the Four Seasons pans out too.
I hear you say about time to get in and out. What is it like living in those guard gated communities, the time to drive from your house to the gate and to the main streets?
I love the idea of security of the high rises. If I got a house, I would have to have cameras covering every inch inside and out (except bathrooms of course). If I traveled, I would have to have someone watch so no dang squatters would try to sneak in. Hopefully, living in a guard gated community would prevent that.
The HOAs are still really a hangup, so would really have to figure out if they are worth it. I would like to see the history of how often they go up and by how much.

I’ve always been against High Rises because of the elevators and going up and down but I’m more open to it now that since my wife and I love living simple and don’t like to collect things when owning bigger homes.

Nobody ever says a word about Regency unless they have a listing there. Is it really as bad as all that? It's old. But it's got the double layer of security (inside a gated community plus the condo's own staff). And it's got some solid views from almost half the units, it seems. So what's the deal?
Same thing with Metropolis. It's not as neglected as Regency, but they have some fairly large units (not a lot) but the ordinary size units are decently big. It joins Regency as being kinda neglected. I supposed in part it's because it doesn't have a lot of units. But the location and the views seem pretty solid. Why does it get so little love?

@@courtneybentley Good for you Courtney. I'm sure that you understand and realize that the vast majority of people aren't living a similar lifestyle and they also work very hard and struggle to make due on a daily basis. As an American and a senior I feel for people that have worked very hard, played by the rules and still are living in extremely substandard conditions.
