The skydiver who had the seizure was training to become a skydiver instructor. He had a breakthrough seizure. Thankfully he wasn't hurt. I think that they brought his seizures under control once again. He can still skydive. However he must have someone with him just in case.

I once went camping with my mom, niece, and granddaddy. My niece knows I’m epileptic but I explained to her what she would need to do if I have a seizure while we were swimming. I think I scared her because she didn’t know how fatal seizures could be until then and she began watching me closer, and I mean she almost didn’t let me out of her sight. Sweet girl. Especially since it was mid summer. What I didn’t know is my granddaddy had been helping his neighbor with her epileptic daughter. So knew instantly the moment I began having an Absence Seizure while we were outside hanging out with friends. It made me happy when I realized just how much he really does pay attention to and loves me.
One of those strong, rough, stubborn, old mules with a heart of gold. God bless him.

Also are you on any meds?? I'm asking because I am 40 and I had never had a seizure until my ankle was broken in 4 places and they put screws and plate in it and I was taking prednisone for my Rheumatoid arthritis ( big No-No) prednisone is known to weaken your immune system and causes you to not heal properly and causes infection and well I did go to my check up at that time everything looked good but then as time went by my ankle was slowly becoming infected and it's slowly got to where it was extremely noticeable and I didn't go see a doctor I didn't do anything about it I had my daughter to take care of I had my grandmother to take care of I had my dad to take care of both of them were very sick my dad's heart was at like 20% my grandmother had her own issues and eventually was puking up blood just everything was a mess so I put off taking care of myself everyday I would just take a Band-Aid after I would use peroxide and bactine I would clean it real good and then slap a big Band-Aid on it and I did that every day and for a year and a half it was that's how I did it and then April 17th 2023 I had my first seizure and it was due to my infection and my daughter got my uncle and they called 911 and I went to the hospital and they did emergency surgery and took out the metal stuff and all that so I had no plates in the screws and anymore and then I spent six weeks getting IV antibiotics the pretty strong ones so I was in rehab getting that done and then after rehab you know I came home and I was good for like a month month-and-a-half you know 2 months something like that and then all the sudden I ended up having another seizure and then once again my daughter got me help I called an ambulance and while I was in the back of the ambulance I ended up having a second one which makes it total of technically three including the first one and then ever since then though I've been on keppra which I don't think I'm epileptic because I have no reason to be like it's not something you know I've ever had to do it I know that due to the infection I did have a seizure because of that it's all good it's all healed but I can't seem to understand why I had that second seizure / 3rd seizure because the infection was good it was clean like it was all taken care of and at first somebody tried to tell me that because of the strong antibiotics that I was on my body was trying to restart itself or somethingso anybody on here who is epileptic or has had a seizure due to an infection please comment and tell me your story

@@AyeYoTay an Absence Seizure is basically where somome has a seizure. But it doesn’t cause the person to collapse or shake.
The person could just be sitting there with an empty look on their face. Stop in the middle of a conversation for a moment or two and go right back to the instant of the conversation they stopped at as if nothing had happened. Or even just stand there staring off into space, or times when they just stand there holding something or even doing something like petting the wall or whatever. Even pulling their own hair. They are still unconscious which means they don’t feel pain.
My husband has told me that I’ve stopped in the middle of a conversation with him on the phone then shortly begin the conversation right where I stopped. Never knowing it happened.
So they are Absent for a bit.
There are actually different kinds of seizures as well but I think I’ve bothered you enough.

@@AyeYoTay yup I’ve got meds. I was even on keppra for a bit. And you may have had those two seizures because once the system has had one.. you are more likely to have another. Stress can trigger one so that is probably the reason for the second one in the ambulance.
They can get really bad. Almost violent.
I’m glad you were in an ambulance when they happened.
      I take Lamotrigine.

Hahah I've been skydiving (before I was diagnosed,) but I didn't have a seizure and I was attached to an instructor. From what I understand there are secondary parachutes connected that will automatically shoot out in emergency situations. Landing is still hard, but you shouldn't turn into a pancake.
My worst seizure was when I drove off the interstate, praise the LORD I let off the gas and went off at 5mph. Nobody was injured, not even my car, praise Jesus. I have since sold my car and no longer have a license. I was also very blessed that the police and EMS were on scene very quickly so I didn't walk into high speed traffic post-ictally, they did a beautiful job protecting me even though I'm sure it probably seemed to them like I was just on drugs or something. It was a very traumatic and very humbling experience.

Jus thankful nobody was hurt man

I’m glad others come out of their postictal state quicker than me because mine can last anywhere from five to ten minutes of me just lying there staring at nothing. My husband will sit there trying to get my attention while I apparently just stare right through him. He says it’s the creepiest thing. I had a few seizures before 2021 but now I’m diagnosed with epilepsy because I have them a lot more frequently and am on high doses of meds to keep them under control. Wouldn’t wish these on my worst enemy.

I am epileptic since 20 years. My age now 33 last episode happen on 1st October 2021. I was taking Levetracetam 500mg 3 times per day. Before last episode I was very active and convulsions free. Now I feel convulsion sometimes even taking Levetracetam 500mg 3 times per day. My doctor suggested me clobazom 5mg at night with Levetracetam. But I am taking clobazom only when I feel I will get seizure. Bcoz I don't want to continue extra medicine. This is cause any major issue in future?

Do seizures normally have time patterns of when they occur or do they just happen out of the blue? Cause that's pretty sad how they can happen at the most unfortunate times like during swimming

Oof. Post-ictal states are fun. I still can’t get my mom and sister to understand that just because I’m not in a seizure doesn’t mean I’m gonna be the least bit coherent 😂 after one of mine, I was so disoriented with time I kept telling my son Rory to get ready for school or he’d miss the bus😂 sweet baby just kept reminding me I had had a seizure and the time of day. He’s a trooper:) my mom couldn’t figure out why I was arguing with her concerning the time and though I looked at my phone for it, I was arguing with her legit right after looking at it 😂 I’ve tried explaining it to her, but I think it’s just very frightening for her and my sister because it’s not something they can fix if that makes sense, but it’s amusing in its own way because this has been a thing since adolescence 😂 they forget I can’t see though which is a sorta compliment I guess, but I wish they would remember after seizures ALWAYS go like this and to just go with it.
    Also, funniest situation for a myoclonic seizure… threw a pencil at a teacher… 😂oops 😂
