    The sherp is the best kept secret in dual sport. Period. I haven't found any bike as effortless in the worst terrain and it has the widest ratio gearbox of any dual sport in existence. I checked.
    That being said, it may could benefit from the 300cc big bore kit fro Bill Blue. I plan to put it on one of my sherpas soon and see

    Haha that's always a bit panic inducing when you forget about the abs. There are some trails out there where it would definitely be nice to run a smaller bike. My one buddy is going to tear into my Husaberg and get it all cleaned up. That bike is a lot of fun out there. But I just don't have the patience when it comes to working on it. Maybe once the bike is back to having the stock subframe it'll be easier.
    Hey, THAT'S ME!!! Hahaha thanks for the shout out buddy! Yeah this is the same trail. It is funny how these trails are the same, but they look so different. Especially when you go from summer to winter riding. It's amazing. I hate that when they put those gates way into a trail like that. Technically they're supposed to post a sign for it. The spot with the other tracks is Ross Lake Rd. You're heading towards Sayner I believe. They're probably following Canonshot's advrider track.
    If/when I get the berg back together and plated, there's a few trails up in the star lake area along county K that supposedly aren't bermed anymore. I would like to see the terrain over there. It gets pretty hilly.
    Great ride sir. Take it easy. Thanks again for the acknowledgement. Made my day, haha.

      We're those gates put up in the last 5 or so years? I swear we were able to get further into the woods near some lakes the first time we were in there. Oooo newly accessable trails sound exciting!

    Ben, my nephew and I completed the TAT and rode home from Oregon via Yellowstone National park. I wish I could show you the places we rode and where my nephew took his T700. I am very impressed with it. Was also pleasantly surprised with my F800GS. It went places i didn’t expect it to. I laughed when you mentioned not wanting to drop your bike. After the 10th drop on the TAT it just became daily routine like getting out of bed. Lol. We rode 10600 miles in 29 days. 5100 off road.

    I had 250 CRF rally dial sport for 3 years, commuting 5 days + lots of single day dirt / beach riders + a couple of 3 day mountain / country riders. Versatile and was great for getting back into riding but doesn't cope with camping gear weight. In Australia we have a lot of big, multi-day distance dirt rides which is where the T7 fits perfectly.

    • @SwankyCatProductions
      @SwankyCatProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've always wanted a rally, almost ordered a 300 rally this year but went another direction. Might still pick one up eventually, I don't do much camping so it might be a really nice light option?

    • @andrew390
      @andrew390 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SwankyCatProductions lighter but then you also spend a lot of time gear shifting / top revving to get the performance. I think you'd miss your T7 pretty quickly.

      How's it do on single track? I'm thinking second bike more so then a replacement.

      @@SwankyCatProductions be better with just CRF 300 L as plastic farings on rally break easily when you drop it (expensive). This way you get the low maintenance interval / fuel injection advantage of a modern dual sport.

    I keep saying I'd love to get a 250 or 300 to shred trails with. But my take is this on the whole Dual sport/ADV thing: I really think that its about ride style. Do you ride ADV or Dual sport or combine the two. I feel like I ride the KLR as an ADV bike, but sometimes I ride it like a dual sport. Sometimes I ADV my way into a dual sport ride, lol.

    • @SwankyCatProductions
      @SwankyCatProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I don't think there is a right or wrong, just depends what you want to do with it and what your skill level is. There are plenty of people who can ride an ADV bike better than I can ride a dual sport ha ha.

    I vote for the Super Sherpa, as I like my little XT225 to bop around. Those trails look fun.

  • @DirtRider22a

    I did a similar comparison on my channel a couple months back, t7 compared to my xt225. Recently the t7 was down and I was scheduled to lead a ride an hour away and had no choice but to use the 225. Really if your riding solo and not doing multi day trips involving more than maybe an hour and a half of highway I’m starting to lean more and more towards dualsport. Maybe there needs to be a way to figure age into that decision as well cause if I was 60 instead of 30 then my opinion might start to flip the other way lol

    I bought a super Sherpa to learn how to ride on and have never been off road. I want to try but I don’t want to ride all the way to a trail with a 250. I had never heard of an adv bike until after but I think I really want one.

    • @SwankyCatProductions
      @SwankyCatProductions  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's exactly how I got into them. Never heard of ADV until I started looking for something that would be better for the hour ride up to my trails.

    It's nice riding a lighter dual sport bike but as soon as you start doing some road riding, the adv bike is just too good.
    I love my T7 though, it just does both on and off-road so well!

    How does it feel to be infringed upon . So much for "freedom" . Need to speak in code around certain things . I do miss my DR650 but I learned that even that bike on longer trips would be a slow lane deal and that means riding in the lanes the semis rip up etc . The Tenere can ride any lane and even ones that have lots of dirt on them !

    Are you still running the stock tires ?

    • @SwankyCatProductions
      @SwankyCatProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No I switched to Tractionator Adventures right away. The stock tires are really similar to another set I've ran in the past and knew I'd need something better for the mud.

      Yeah I probably missed that video though I was watching the videos from when you got was on the mend and you made improvements each week or two to your Tenere . Those Tractionator ADV tires are a little sketchy at first on pavement and I still pay attention to any imperfections on the road surface . Still haven't had much chance to ride on trails yet but the little bit that I have gone offroad with these tires is incredible , so much grip they're confidence inspiring .

    I have an 18 FE350, great for single track and off road but not a nice ride on road. Been eyeing up a T700 to swap my XSR for but this year is not a good year to buy bikes or cars. Maybe next year.
