I had a, maybe too personal question; I used to work alongside law enforcement (I arrested people for a living but I wasn't a cop) and I ended up getting really disillusioned with the concept of the justice system. I felt like I wasn't helping people, I was just punishing them for being poor or in bad circumstances. I was just wondering if maybe you dealt with anything like that while on the force.
Chris doesn’t need to be funny in every movie. He plays the character. If the character is serious then the character is serious. Doesn’t matter who plays him. He played it greatly. Keep watching the series and you’ll see. The plot is crisp, fighting is great. It’s a sentimental and fucked up series. Not a comedy
Agreed. For one it's a serious character. In the books Reece is small on humor and when he is humorous it's forced. In this regard Pratt played the character as written. In addition at this episode we have the main character suffering from an undiagnosed brain tumor combined with multiple concussions, memory loss, and the loss of his ENTIRE team. While I tend to use a lot of gallows humor there have been times I have had no humor at all. Having suffered hypoxia I know memory loss and therapy for 2 years just to be able to talk again without a stutter.
@@CT-5576 That to me was absolutely hilarious because I've seen the gaming video clip from where it originated. Absolutely fitting for that moment in the series too. 👍🏻
I think you missed the mark on Pratt's acting. To me he finally elevated his acting game. Every time he does the jokey, look at me I'm Chris Pratt, it is basically you watching him not the character he's supposed to be portraying.
they had only seen episode 1 at this point so what they're saying makes sense for not having all the context. once they get further in you start seeing the reasoning behind it. it's very well acted though, just seems off until you get mid way into episode 2 when it all starts kicking off.
I never read the novel but the Amazon show is predictable with lazy writing and filled with cliches, everyone is hiding out at a beach house/ranch/ sail boat lol. And the biotech company w/ pending gov defense contract is trying to cover up their mistakes and stay under the radar by killing everyone that’s involved in broad daylight w/ gun shots to the head. Action thriller show like The Old Man on FX is more engaging and entertaining for me personally.
EXACTLY!!! I didn't hate him but I didn't like him in any of his other films... he was just too goofy. This is real deal acting and I'm glad he took on this project. I love it so far.
@@andrabook8758 when it's vengeance it overrides the outward anger... it's an internal storm if you get my drift .... if you piss someone off and keep pokin and they smile at you ...Ruuun!!!
yeah it started off slow. not sure if it was due to budget or just cuts for time. kinda wish we had a bro moment to get to know the team. like a BBQ scene or at his daughters birthday party having the families around. at least this way we as the viewers can have a bit more love for the fallen. tbh i forgot all their names after ep2.
They changed the whole plot line. Basically every character arc has to change if they want it to continue in to season2. Katie is completely diffrent. Liz was a pansy. We hear nothing about Reeces dad. And no Raffe wth? So what now.
Having watched 5 episodes so far, I feel like Pratt's performance makes a lot more sense AFTER the events of the first episode. The first episode dialogue does hit kinda weird, and not "real". But I actually like the series a lot, not because it's Pratt's best performance or anything, but because of everything else. Honestly the reasons I like this show a lot have almost nothing to do with the actor playing James Reece. Chris Pratt's greatest contribution to this show is probably being an executive producer and helping it get name recognition for Amazon's greenlight.
And it was the perfect place to put it since it was the only place they would've had coms. That's why they went back into it, that would be the only way to call for QRF. If not for the brain tumors, that guy wouldn't have lost his mind and wouldn't have run into the trap, perhaps more of them would've survived.
It would be completly out of character for him to be cracking jokes throughout the series. I can enjoy a man's show, not a bratty teenager pretending to be a SEAL ... come on. Dude lost his family and is going for revenge, seriously..
i agree. did you feel like it was just not enough negative emotion though. like I was waiting for some real emotion to kick in. I did think it was way better than the book, they made some great editing choices.
The reason for his seriousness is awkward because we don't yet have the background that he's also already having headaches. So he's concerned and trying to focus. This is a problem of going from book to tv and being unable to communicate that to people who haven't even recently read the opening novel.
This is the problem with watching one episode and making comments about the entire show when you haven't even learned the entire plot. They were hinting at their health issues from the beggining, with the other SEAL having issues aswell. All of them had tumors irc
I disagree. He's playing a serious role in this series. That it bothers you so much just goes to show how good of an actor he is. You just lost your team your wife and daughter would you be smiling and joking and laughing? I have to agree with Tim Kennedy on this one it's a great well-written show.
Being one myself and a lot of my friends are vets I've noticed there are like 2 general types of vets. One that is capable of taking it all very seriously and the other that thinks anything not a joke is "cringey." Like yes, I do get that people get carried away with these stupid sayings, like one of them one said "I am a lion that cannot be tamed." Ok, yes, that's clearly in cringe territory, but at the same time a lot of my friends who are former military act like anytime you're not turning anything into some "edgy" joke that you're being "too serious." Like notice how they even seem to have a problem with the creators of this show paying attention to small details like their gear, radio etiquette, the way they move, etc. Like "nobody cares" but personally, when movies or shows put in details that most civilians won't notice or care about, I respect that even more. Because it shows that they spent the extra time to make sure a scene is done right even though most people won't notice it. It shows they care more about doing things right than just putting in the least effort to still get a "passing" score. And like when they mock the main character, who is the squad leader, for leading his squad... Like um, bro, that's his job 🤣. Yes they are definitely all professionals, but there still needs to be one cohesive plan, it's not just everyone do their own thing because they're all professionals... And given that the writer was a Navy SEAL and a lot of the people playing his team are or were real SEALs themselves, while I understand some things were done for the sake of drama for the show, I think overall I'll trust that their tactics were sound in that scene... 🤷♂
I definitely think you guys are having a hard time separating Chris Pratt the man from this particular role I actually very much enjoyed the show and I think having former Seals as backgrounds actors really helped the feel of the show
I thought Chris did a phenomenal job! I however respect the opinion you two have! After reading the book 2 times I think they did a great job adapting it to the the screen!
I also think they forgot James Reece is a character from a book first. He is stoic and the commander. In a book you can just say that, in film you have to show it.
I don't respect their opinion about this it's f****** garbage the show is great every first episode of a TV series is a little wonky it's not uncommon and they're leaping to Wild conclusions based on very little information in the first episode
Dudes has ALOT of stamina. You'll see it gets better. I completely lost in thought, but the short term memory lost is so f**king frustrating. Excpecially at work, because you feel the judgment
I used to train dogs for a living and still train a little. You're right, he would've hit on the odor, not the wire. The head gear can have comms, earpro, a camera etc. I've never used anything other than earpro. I think they just wanted him to look tacticool.
K9 handler here as well. Looks like the dog has on the product called "K-9 Helm" either TR-1 or M2, which contains on board camera and goggle for eyes protection. I believe it was also used in the TV show Seal Team Six for the canine, Ceberus.
@@rockydubois2418 I'm not sure you would, I've always wondered if those dogs have any pet-like qualities, or are they more a tool than anything else? Is it a pet until someone breaks in and goes into attack mode, or is this an animal you don't want around your kids?
@@logicplague I know the Belgian Malinois are extremely protective of their home and any kids in it or kids in general but they tend to make bad pets because they are born and bred for action. Look em up if you haven’t seen the vids of them climbing trees and jumping on roofs or 20ft jump competitions and they make awesome airborne dogos because of their fearlessness and how trainable they are. Along with their large mouth and teeth compared to relatively lightweight body. They actually remove their k9s and replace them with titanium or stainless steel implants so they can really clamp down on somebody’s ass lol awesome dogs but no they’re definitely no lapdog
@@logicplague explosive detection canines are different from bite dogs or tracking dogs. All dogs have their own personalities. Some may be aggressive, some may be handler protective, some may be aggressive towards other dogs or people. Odor dogs, i.e explosives and drugs, from my experience, are 50/50. Some of these dogs may have bite dog characteristics. However, most of the time bite work dogs are big baby’s, like pets. Until you put the harness on them and give them commands. It’s not what you guys think. But i wouldn’t fuck with any working dog that you don’t know. That’s stupid. As a handler, i would be pissed if someone randomly came up and tried to pet my dog and i have a non aggressive happy dog
Get Kurt back for these breakdowns, he's so much more funny and personable and actually willing to go along with you on your tangents and breakdowns. The chemistry is just flat out better with Kurt in my opinion.
They explained the the tunnels blocked radio, they had to dayse chain the comms using direct line of sight from the tunnel entrance. When the tunnel entrance got attacked they lost coms. The only other spot they could reaquire communication and call for backup was the tunnel exit after the tripwire.
@@ShootatASL yea it sucks that they just couldn’t give less of shit about listening to the show and figuring out what was going on but whatever still fun to watch
Once you guys watch the whole series, some of the things you were talking about are going to seem different. Without giving spoilers, even small things like the hot pan part are different now that I know the story
i would disagree, it still makes no sense and it's obvious they're trying to pass it off as something serious when it's just a dude accidentally grabbing a hot pan. my grandma did that. it;s not a brain issue thing at all, just a random person having a dumb moment thing.
Man idk I personally like seeing Chris doing something outside what he's known for. Think alot of people watched with the expectation of it having those funny Pratt moments when that just Isn't James resse from the books.
There's actually a explanation for why he might be robotic when it comes to the trauma of the situation and why he might be less emotional. Explanation comes a few episodes in
I hate watching shows with people like this where the story is clearly a slow burn and will take it's time explaining itself and the dude is nit picking everything ...
@@buxadonoff Not only that, but like...purposely looking so far into things that they just totally refuse to see what's being said. The hot pan thing for example... they just didn't get it at all I guess. She wasn't shocked that he put down a hot pan. She was shocked that he picked it up in the first place... moments after she took it out of the oven, and then HELD IT for like 5 seconds before realizing "oh actually that's hot." She saw behind the front he put up. Clearly she was concerned for him after what he had experienced, and he clearly seemed very distant/out of it (extremely common thing for PTSD victims). Her seeing him do that was a blatant sign of just far gone he was in that moment... which would be disturbing to witness.
@@Marthyboy88 Yeah, the guy mentioned that the scene would've made more sense if Chris Pratt would've thrown the hot pan at the wall or something. And it's like, right, a stereotypical generic PTSD response would've made more sense in a Hallmark or Lifetime movie.
@@strawdawgs78 well what's weird to me is that THIS seemed like an accurate response. Jack Carr said in an interview that he had a hard time holding in emotions when he watched Chris do the 'coming home' scenes because it was such an accurate depiction to what he went through... It also reminds me of DJ Shipley's comments about when he came back home after so many deployments and was just not all there... The way Chris Pratt depicts this situation aligns with other people's experiences to a T...
PTSD is different for everyone. I haven’t watched the show, but Pratt being serious is probably Acute Stress Disorder which is the precursor to PTSD. ASD when recognized, treated quickly, and aggressively can sometimes be prevented from becoming PTSD, or minimize the effects of PTSD. Typically if symptoms persist longer than six months the diagnosis changes from ASD to PTSD, ASD behavior can often be erratic and unpredictable settling into triggers as it transitions into PTSD as we learn coping mechanisms. The character may be intended to be portraying the near constant Lizard Brain existence many experience immediately after a traumatic event. I can only speak for myself, but when I lost five men in Iraq it broke me completely, I lost all confidence in myself and the fucked up part is I know we did it right. I’ve come along way in understanding PTSD and myself since that day, buy my god that first year I nearly self checked out several times.
You can be known as the comedian/funny guy and no one will take you serious if you play serious action roles. I think Pratt knocked it out the park. There were certainly some questionable scenes. Especially the SEAL poser stolen valor dude🤣
i think the poser scene was great. especially when the security team member rips him a new one for being a fake(don't want to say anymore than that for people that haven't seen the episode).
What was questionable about that guy ? It was totally understandable for him to be a wannabe soldier. He saw himself as ruthless and felt like he was better then those guys, even the operators who were training with him. When shit hit the fan,(SPOILER ALERT) he found out he was a chicken shit who had no idea what he was doing.
Just because he does a lot of comedy doesn’t mean that’s all he has to do otherwise that’s completely type casting for his whole career. This series shows his acting capabilities great that he is playing a different kind of character and does it brilliantly if you keep watching you will see. The character is this way and that’s who he’s playing. Also when he calls his wife it’s just after what happened so grief is done differently not that same by two separate people especially with shock and still trying to comprehend what happened.
You’ll see. I almost felt the same, read all of Jack’s books so huge fan, but it makes sense after 2. The show is dark and edgy. Chris does a great job and they do a great job of adapting his book at the end.
Loved it.. 10/10. I love how he has showed he isn't stuck in a box, or type casted. Watch the whole thing in 2 nights because I had to stop and get sleep.
It does get better and some of the things you didn't like in episode 1 make more sense after a few more episodes. Like the hot pan. Keep up the good work guys
How was the scene in the tunnels in any way even remotely confusing? Find the daisy chain, try to back out, get cut off by a massive incoming force (tactical and all), retreat to try and find another way out of the tunnels, and the noob panics and hits the trip wire.
Loved the show. I agree the beginning sequence didn't make sense from a tactical perspective but when you figure out what's going on with all these SEALs then it makes sense why the operation went south so quickly.
I think it made some sense. EOD called landslide but they received contact from where hey had to exfil. They then retreated back to over the wire and engaged the contact. Made sense to me.
I'm a hardware geek so I care about the different cool stuff our best defenders have access to. Whether its CAG or DEVGRU, Green Berets or whatever aircraft they're flying I'm interested in knowing about what these cats are doing. Yeah, I'm also a car guy and hobby guy hence the term: GEEK lol
The series gets wayyyy better . You'll realize from episode 2 onwards that his performance was really good , and that humor was not the way to go for this one . Keep watching it you'll get to appreciate it more
Guys, imagine there’s an artist that paints this one particular picture and he is not allowed to paint anything else but that one picture over and over again. But he wants to try other scenes but people just want him to paint that one picture because he’s so good at it. The guy has so much more artistic ability but people have trapped him into that one role of painting that particular picture. That’s what you’re doing here with Chris and his acting “range”. You’ve pigeonholed him into being that funny guy. But the thing is he obviously wants to spread his wings and give something else a try. Try to see the character he’s playing and the motivations that lead to him doing what he does then maybe you’ll have a better appreciation of his acting skills and the role he plays in the show.
I’ve worked with Bomb dogs and tracking dogs and I’ve seen doggles and ear muffs used for helo rides but I’ve never seen that sort of full on dog helmet. I’ve also seen muzzles used for fast roping or free falling dogs but usually they’re off when they hit the ground. Same with the muffs and doggles in the helo.
yeah ptsd, people think its all war. It can be small things it can be big things ive read ur book and gave me a whole view of you as a person. Youve been through a lot of shit, but you dont cry about it and use your past as an excuse. You move on and youve done and are still doing amazing stuff for people. Just having you online to see and sell stuff to help us and give knowledge youve helped me way more than if i never saw you. Thank you!
I think MCU kinda screwed Chris Pratt in a way. I'm saying this in the best way possible - that he played Starlord so well, so iconic, that when we see Chris Pratt, we were expecting Starlord. It's kinda the same with Ryan Reynolds, that every character he plays in films are just Deadpool (or himself).
As a gun loving, constant flat range larping civilian running around in kit, I disagree we don’t care about the kit/gear in shows. Maybe not most, but plenty of us do. It’s not just vets that only care about that kinda stuff
Civie here, and co-signing on this. One of the reasons I was looking forward to this series was because I heard so much hype about the books (never read them) but there were people hyping up Carr like he's the second coming of Tom Clancy. Anyway, while I didn't entirely hate the gear in this series, it still blows my mind why they won't just full on commit to Crye, Ferro Concepts, Spirtus Systems, etc etc. I mean you can do worse than 5.11, but I've never seen any photos of spec ops guys wearing their gear. You hardly even see their stuff in competition shooting. I'll give Hollywood credit in that they've at least improved their firearms content in massive ways. I felt like 'Extraction' with Chris Hemsworth did what the John Wick movies did, but even better. But circling back to your comment, his kit in that film was a huge reason why it wasn't perfect. Those elbow pads are soo sooooo bad. I mean it does sound silly -- but I guess similar to wanting cool looking shit in sci-fi and horror movies, you'd also like to expect military-driven films and shows to start getting kit right. If there's a second season, I'd like see to Amazon open up the budget a bit and go for those companies I mentioned. Would also be dope to see if TNVC could lend some real nods to the show. Especially some legit GPNVGs.
@@TetraVaalBioSecurity I’m only a couple episodes in but yea, I agree. I wouldn’t wear 5.11 shit if it was given to me free. I’m a huge Crye fanboy and own a bit of their gear so yea, Im always looking out for it and similar brands. Ferro, Haley, Spiritus, Shaw Concepts, etc. Same with firearm stuff. I wanna see these dudes running KAC CQB’s with QDC’s. NGALs and DTNVG’s. Noveske, Triarc, Glock, Stacatto. I wanna see all the kit/gear/toys
Yeah, me too. I cared about every details and tactical aesthetics about this show. From sights they use to Salomon boots. I love seeing Salomon for the first time on screen like this. Many "tactical" shows missed it and show us product advertisement like Nike and shit which is weird.
I actually loved episode one and this was after watching the tomorrow war as well. (Which I also loved). I’m going to continue watching the show but I’m currently hooked on invincible on prime.
no comment about having a gun/knife fight in an MRI room where supposedly they brought his gun into the room to make it look like suicide even though the gun would never be allowed in there, let alone hospital staff, cameras, machine logs, like that it was taking images while the doc died
The Terminal List FINALLY made me really take Pratt seriously as an actor. It's probably his best work. He's finally made the transition to 'Adult' characters like John Krasinski did. He was the jokey typecast character from The Office, and then he became the serious older actor we see today portraying a grizzled former operator in Benghazi and then on to portraying Jack Ryan. I was an early test audience for Pratt's last 'serious' project, The Tomorrow War, and Terminal List was a big step up.
"The Old Man" on FX with Jeff Bridges is pretty good so far (also on HULU). Basically he's playing a senior citizen Jason Bourne. So maybe that's not quite special operator stuff, but it's pretty good.
-It's not the same as the book, as a matter of fact, it's a COMPLETELY different Reece. The Reece in the book is very very different. - it's DOES get a lot better. Hang in there. - Please do the next reviews with the other guy. This civilian guy is...🤐
I have the audiobook, I agree. Jack Carr is the next Tom Clancy. If you haven't already, read the book's preface. This is how Chris became friends with Jack. The alumni members of seals run deep: In The Blood deep.
@@johndavis6338 yup, him and Chris have been friends for a LONG time. He didn't just stumble into the role like some ppl think. The book version of Reece is wayyy more hardcore imo...I guess they did what they did to make it palpable to everyone. That said, wasn't bad and looking forward to the next books especially book 3.
@@SemperFi_EDC_Guy Thank you for your service! My thoughts exactly. The Seals Brotherhood is very extensive, running deep as blood. This demonstrates Chris's respect for not only Jack Carr, but the legacy I like to call "The alumni" like a college fraturnity. Their college was and is, combat. Some combat hardened vets go on to become advisors for really great movies. Those ties opened the doors to many opportunities. They and all men who served our country in combat have my salute and deepest respect.
@@johndavis6338 also lots of "easter eggs" he sprinkled throughout the story if u look at pics in the scenes in the background. Great tributes to fallen heroes. All around, a great series 👏
I haven't watched the series yet, but I loved Chris Pratt in zero dark 30, and always figured he would have been the perfect actor to ay Chris Kyle in American sniper. I also love the director Antoine Fuqua from films like training day or shooter with Marky Mark, great movies, but I was wondering how their different styles of movie making would mesh. I hope the remaining episodes get better and better
Woulda been awesome as Chris Kyle. Looks identical, but Bradley Cooper killed that role too. Shoulda won an Oscar for it. Libs in Hollywood 🙄 go figure
I thought he was in zero dark 30, yes! I thought he did a great job there for sure. I wish they would have gone more true vengence movie in this one...but alas, we are living in stupid times.
Hey about that PTSD thing. I used be a bit like that aswell but for me it was more like remembering every time the bullies in my school used to make me feel weak. i just remembered and spaced out and came back, and it wasnt untill i adapted a whole new mindset calloused over my mind with hard work that it kinda stoppet. gotta thank goggins for that one. for me it was weird because i knew i would demolish these people that were bothering me but they were all connected and they would gang up on people so i was not really weak but i wasnt strong either didnt have friends. i stayed out of trouble and my life was stressful enough without it. looking back and seeing that i never was able to get into the military or become a cop (you need like really high grades to become a cop in this country btw like damn near a 4.0. ) so staying outta of trouble didnt really do much for me other then not adding to the stress for my parents. i think they would have gotten bored and stoppet doing it if i had just not given a F and gotten my ass beat everyday at school at some point they prob would have more respect and or gotten bored with me. but nope i chose not to rock the boat. i rambled on sorry ty for reading, PTSD comes from many sources
It gets better, especially the action scenes, but it still falls short. Constance Wu had her Tom Cruise “did you order that Code Red” moment and her acting was absolutely terrible in that scene.
My Dood, The show gets WAAY better so give it a chance. Starting with episode 2 shit gets down. I'd love to see you react to the Tactics. I have two immediate family mambers that were recently Special forces. My uncle was Sargent Major, and his son just retired staff Sargent Green beret. Both from Fort Bragg. Love your channel. Keep it up.
I think the most important part of the technical advisor is to help bring authenticity to a movie..especially movies based on true events..Even if the viewer base might not be interested in the tactical accuracy it is owed to whatever person or persons representation of what they do or did.. this doesn’t just go for war films but also historical films,
Your commentary cracks me up, not because I think you're spot on but because I've always wondered what the a live action version of the crusty old muppets in the theater would actually be like.
Thanks for sharing your experience of PTSD the more awareness and knowledge people have the better we can be inclusive in society for those who have to live with it!
The writing does hit a little weird. I'm on like episode 6. It's still a little meh in my opinion. Question though, in the tunnels what would the difference between using white light and IR illuminators be? Which do you think would be better? Or am I mistaken about the illuminators? If they all had NODs of course... I don't think they all had NODs in that scene.
The answer is the white light use made zero sense and is super obvious to anyone with even a little NOD experience. More Hollywood stupidity. It makes no sense with all the military advisors on hand to include the Fing author FFS. It’s also not the only glaring error. I expected way better.
@@williamflowers9435 yeah but didn’t they explain they were using white light over NODS cause they wanted to check were they were walking on and not trip any IED trip wires?
@@eclipsewrecker FYI all the team guys that were in the ops brief and that died in the tunnels are the real deal navy seals retired etc, they were the advisors for the tv show, the writer of the book was also former navy seal on set every day as this was being filmed and was granted a lot of freedom with the show so i guarantee you whatever the fuck they were doing in the tunnels is probably accurate.
I really wasn't sure about this show at first but by the end of the second episode I was hooked and by the end of it I feel like Chris was awesome as a serious character. Plus it's probably good that he is branching out so he isn't stuck doing only comedy.
I would agree the first episode wasn’t as sharp as it could be BUT like many have said here the series gets SOOO much better. Chris is amazing, in my opinion, and gives my favorite performance in anything he’s been in. Shows his growth as an actor and you can tell he truly cares about being as authentic as he can be doing the character and trying to honor the seals and military in general. I think it was a home run. Excellent job Chris, Jack, and everyone else. Thanks for doing this show!!!
I mean his family and team all get killed in the first episode and he’s got a TBI so it would make no sense for Pratt to act jovially. Y’all trippin lol
As a civilian, I definitely appreciate you guys pointing out inaccuracies in the dialogue/terminology and tactics in these shows and movies. Some of us do care/notice. Why? Some of it is applicable to civilian self/home/active shooter defense or survival and navigation skills. If someone does something in a movie that is actually more, not less, likely to get themselves killed I’d like to know about it. Additionally, if I ever need to get rescued by our boys and girls in green, I’d like to be only a 95% liability while getting rescued, not 100%. Of course movies aren’t the only (and far from the best) vehicle available for civilian training, but they do have a special way of getting tactics seared into one’s brain… for better or for worse… and so I’d like for them to be accurate. Thanks!
OUTSTANDING!!! It watches like a movie...but broken down into 8 episodes. The first episode was "ok", but gets much better with each episode. 5, 6, 7 & 8....WOW!
MY only gripe about this movie is the way some of the actors move tactically. You can tell they were trained by real spec ops veterans, but some of their movements are what people use when on a flat range shooting steel and paper, and not at people shooting back at you. Like checking your left and right deliberately after finishing a drill. People who run pistol drills know what I mean. And when you can argue that its how you are taught, its also not how you move when getting shot at. It's more hasty
100% this. Even the last scene they talked about with the reporter following him home he did the side to side check after he realised it was the reporter. Lol I thought they would hit on that.
Wow. I missed so much with this. I literally binge-watched the entire series with my twin toddlers running around screaming and trying to bash each other. I need to rewatch this whole series because I thought it was awesome.
(Former Army Medic) I cannot get over the fact that the word “roger” is uttered maybe once the entire show. Idk if SEALs hav different radio ettiequte but it kills me how much they say “COPY” in this shit. I can’t be the only veteran this absolutely annoys the hell out of
I think the concept of Terminal List is a mix between The Punisher (series) and Shooter (movie) but not as captivating. Chris Pratt persona is too sweet and comical to play a vengeance role.
So.... about being followed, I think in the car on the way home, he was trying brush it off, thinking he was being paranoid, especially since he's been having his memory issues. But when he got home, he realized he wasn't just being paranoid.

@@CT-5576 That to me was absolutely hilarious because I've seen the gaming video clip from where it originated. Absolutely fitting for that moment in the series too. 👍🏻
@@CT-5576 lmao that part caught me off guard cuz most of the show is serious and then he decides to have that as the sound💀🤌
He played the character terribly in this show. Worst acting by him I have ever seen.
Action thriller show like The Old Man on FX is more engaging and entertaining for me personally.
i could have used a bit more anger. It's a vengence movie....like you'd think you could feel his rage at some point, but...nope.
The show actually gets better from episode 2. True, not every detail from the book made it to the series but it was still top notch. Amazing series.
True gotta watch the whole series it gets better every episode with new developments and twists
Nah, corny
There’s something out there for everyone
yeah it started off slow. not sure if it was due to budget or just cuts for time. kinda wish we had a bro moment to get to know the team. like a BBQ scene or at his daughters birthday party having the families around. at least this way we as the viewers can have a bit more love for the fallen. tbh i forgot all their names after ep2.
Good point but every detail in the show was in the book from what I remember. That had me worried more than anything.

Yeah they should review all 8 episodes
As a former EOD member that water was the perfect place for booby traps.
And it was the perfect place to put it since it was the only place they would've had coms. That's why they went back into it, that would be the only way to call for QRF. If not for the brain tumors, that guy wouldn't have lost his mind and wouldn't have run into the trap, perhaps more of them would've survived.
I figured as much.

I watched all 8 episodes. The revenge scenes make his seriousness better.
It would be completly out of character for him to be cracking jokes throughout the series. I can enjoy a man's show, not a bratty teenager pretending to be a SEAL ... come on. Dude lost his family and is going for revenge, seriously..
🥷🏼
Yes!!!
i agree. did you feel like it was just not enough negative emotion though. like I was waiting for some real emotion to kick in.
you're watching guys wearing a "black rifle coffee" shirt on - that's all you need to know
I definitely think you guys are having a hard time separating Chris Pratt the man from this particular role I actually very much enjoyed the show and I think having former Seals as backgrounds actors really helped the feel of the show
AGREE
yeah, it improved on the book for sure. but the first 2 episodes are pretty bad.
I want a tacticool dog

Agreed..
@@Marthyboy88 I was being sarcastic. Throwing the pan at the wall would have been the Hallmark or Lifetime version of Terminal List.
John Krasinski comes to mind. He did an awesome job in 13 Hours.
Too many comedians have become highly respected serous actors for your statement to be true.
@@eclipsewrecker Robin Williams, Tom Hanks, Will Smith just off the top of my head.
i think the poser scene was great. especially when the security team member rips him a new one for being a fake(don't want to say anymore than that for people that haven't seen the episode).
As many others have already commented - Without spoilers, the look/feel/behaviour of the characters makes a looot more sense after a few episodes.
I agree the beginning sequence didn't make sense from a tactical perspective but when you figure out what's going on with all these SEALs then it makes sense why the operation went south so quickly.
agree.. at first i was like wtf these guys are trying too hard to be serious.. then as it goes on everything starts making sense.
Agreed, so much of the first episode made no sense until he gets his medical results.
I think it made some sense. EOD called landslide but they received contact from where hey had to exfil. They then retreated back to over the wire and engaged the contact. Made sense to me.

It’s not that Chris Pratts acting is bad. It’s just you guys aren’t used to seeing him in a serious role.

You definitely missed the mark on Chris Pratts acting. This isn’t parks and rec😂 it’s a show about a guy whos family and friends are all killed😂

I think MCU kinda screwed Chris Pratt in a way. I'm saying this in the best way possible - that he played Starlord so well, so iconic, that when we see Chris Pratt, we were expecting Starlord. It's kinda the same with Ryan Reynolds, that every character he plays in films are just Deadpool (or himself).
could not agree more here... Starlord was just so damn good... he absolutely crushed Mario as well
This show was highly entertaining. Fucking loved it
As a gun loving, constant flat range larping civilian running around in kit, I disagree we don’t care about the kit/gear in shows.

After watching the series i am re watching the whole thing. It is one of the best military/ psych thrillers out there. Gives me ‘Wander’ vibes too
no comment about having a gun/knife fight in an MRI room where supposedly they brought his gun into the room to make it look like suicide even though the gun would never be allowed in there, let alone hospital staff, cameras, machine logs, like that it was taking images while the doc died
This is a great series, and I think Pratt did a great job. It makes me want to read all Carrs books.
I was an early test audience for Pratt's last 'serious' project, The Tomorrow War, and Terminal List was a big step up.
i binged the whole thing last night in prep to watch this. i felt the same way. it gets better guys, i promise.
Except for the billionaire car scene.. the building would have a under ground car park.. 🤣
"The Old Man" on FX with Jeff Bridges is pretty good so far (also on HULU). Basically he's playing a senior citizen Jason Bourne. So maybe that's not quite special operator stuff, but it's pretty good.

Abel seems perpetually pissed off with the fact that he's always been a civilian.
One other thing, people have different effects to PTSD, so Chris Pratts performance was really good
5:15 the fact that there's a room full of brass and sergeants major cringing is just too hilarious lol!

Their camera being out of focus was bothering me the whole time
I think the most important part of the technical advisor is to help bring authenticity to a movie..especially movies based on true events..Even if the viewer base might not be interested in the tactical accuracy it is owed to whatever person or persons representation of what they do or did.. this doesn’t just go for war films but also historical films,
Your commentary cracks me up, not because I think you're spot on but because I've always wondered what the a live action version of the crusty old muppets in the theater would actually be like.
Lmfao!
I watched all episodes within two days. Finally a great series with character building, great acting, suspence and actual direction
They either didn’t listen to the tech advisors or the TAs sucked. A lot of misses. The Streaming Wars demand quantity and cheaply…..cutting corners
White light would be way to bright for the Nods… you’d get washout.
“Fall back to the CRYPT” not “trip”…you better get on that 3M lawsuit son! 😂😂
Yall make my day everytime i watch!!! LOVE IT!
You mean show
Wow. I missed so much with this. I literally binge-watched the entire series with my twin toddlers running around screaming and trying to bash each other. I need to rewatch this whole series because I thought it was awesome.
Great review. Thanks for pointing out a lot of the shortcomings, honestly and in the spirit of goodwill
Love the channel and the content. Keep up the outstanding work. Happy 4th!
Other episodes are soooo much better... can't wait to see you guys ripping them
So.... about being followed, I think in the car on the way home, he was trying brush it off, thinking he was being paranoid, especially since he's been having his memory issues. But when he got home, he realized he wasn't just being paranoid.
I'm stoked to check this series out.
You guys need to break down Triple 9 some time! I'm dying to see it 😭
