- This video provides an overview of the MPLAB PICkit 5, Microchip’s new cost-effective debugging and programming tool with stand-alone programming features. Using a USB-C connection, the PICkit 5 provides high-speed programming and debugging of all Microchip devices, and the Programmer-to-Go feature allows hardware to be programmed from a memory card when you are away from your development computer. Programmer to Go can even be controlled from a dedicated app on your smartphone, making it a versatile addition to your development toolsuite.

Does Pickit 4 have high voltage protection? Otherwise, what happens if we accidentally give 9volt while programming PICIT 4 AVR (with PICIT 4 while supplying power to the Avr)?
I had bought the pickit 5 for $2,000 mxn, gadget and delivery. I been out of the practice for workable reasons for several years, and I had started to program again. It is really frustrating to see that the material Microchip post at its web site is not clear. It makes me feel that I am stupid. It was easier to program the same devices 20 years ago.
I thought the Pickit 4 came out a few years ago? Was a new Pickit necessary?
Do you know what to do to save the PICKit-4 after pushing the small Emergency button...? I did it and now my PICKit-4 is dead....
When I run the application, it asks for location permission. It doesn't work if I don't give location permission. I don't understand how a programmer not knowing the location could hinder its operation.
Did you reinforce the output data buffer against excessive voltage or reverse voltage on programming pins? Does this version have better ESD protection? Pickit 4 used to easily broken when you connect it wrong. In my opinion the only bad thing about the Microchip is the bad and bugful programmers. Any other competitor have better and less problematic programmers.
i need some help on this programmer, i do auto electronics, i need to retrieve information from a pic18f458, can the pickit 5 read and save software?
Hi, The MPLAB® PICkit™ 5 can read and save software from a PIC18F458. Connect via ICSP, use MPLAB X IDE or IPE, select the device, and use the "Read" function. ICD4 is no longer in production.
Same as pickit 2 and 3
@@Cafedex Between PICkit 2 and PICkit 3 a lot of time passed, now the transition is almost immediate.
Agree, I recently upgraded from 3 to 4. Not much change in 5 I can see so 4 should be around for a while I hope 😁
still the old fashion sd card way, why not use mobile memory instead to store program and send it via bluetooth (slow but convenient).
