    It’s very nice, but very overpriced. You’re totally right - they should’ve made it a little more water resistant.

    It really should have better specs for 500 dollars. Can't compete with a GMW-B5000.
    Add sapphire and 100m water resistance and it would be a great watch.

      @@baldilocks1914 I don't buy it. There's inventory allocated to retailers and dealers. Casio doesn't presell all of their inventory, and there are other global regions that have not gone on sale yet. Other Casio limited editions have sold out initially, with further waves of stock becoming available later. Plus, I cant help but feel most sales were to flippers.
      I think in a year or two, yeah this will be gone gone. But if you didn't get your preorder in a few days ago, I wouldn't worry too much. Keep an eye out and you'll be able to find one, I imagine a street price will typically be in the 400$ range for a time. I ordered mine at a discount from an AD this morning for $475 actually. There are some in stock at places online right now, has been all day.

    I just got mine yesterday two days before the official launch ( feb 29)and i think and confirm as a collector and Casio fan that this is indeed an incredible watch , it’s like a Rolex retro date just looking but with the digital and historical background
    I agree is not for everyone ( starting for the limited access as it’s already sold out right now in any official Casio page and of course the relative high price point perspective ) and for sure is not a GADA , tool watch , but for Casio collectors and retro style enthusiasts this is a must
    The size is perfect for any wrist, the functionality with the top module 3542 , the impeccable craftsmanship of the bracelet , case and case back and it’s gorgeous blue retro dial
    will stand side by side my top watch collection
    Sooo if you can and have the chance to grab one ☝️ do it now
    You’ll be very very happy 😃

      @@annarive2059 hello !the pre sale for Casio Mexico was available on February 15 so I did my advance purchase immediately the same day and a few minutes later was sold out as is sold out now in every Casio site
      So ,, My watch came finally last Tuesday directly from Casio Mexico
      I think the only way to get it now is from the after market places , like eBay etc but the price is double or triple, and will go higher for sure in the following months
      The watch is beautiful , much much better than any picture or any advertisement
      I’m a collector , owning many Casio / g shock watches ( most of them limited editions and original vintage pieces )
      If you have a chance , get one
      This is a watch to keep and enjoy for many yeas to come

    It is basicly a G-Shock B5000 module in a Casiotron case. The bluetooth and dot matrix section at the right upper corner is a clear giveaway. I rather had a one on one reproduction of the Casiotron (with sapphire) instead.

  • @watchingdanny
    @watchingdanny 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    I agree with you T3. This is the opposite of what they do with the anniversary edition G Shock squares. They give you beautiful, modern cases and finishes but leave the basic module inside instead of upgrading it like they did here with the Casiotron. I think this watch should've had at least 100m WR.

  • @shawnholloway2410
    @shawnholloway2410 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

    It’s cool and definitely nostalgia. But $500 with no sapphire, it is a no for me. Don’t need Bluetooth as there are other items they could have done to make $500 viable.

  • @lookatwrist
    @lookatwrist 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

    I ordered one of these as soon as I could. But I'm a big Casio fan - I have a big Casiotron collection.
    Oh no I can't go diving with with my limited edition Casiotron reissue. How awful.. People act like there's a magic 200M gasket out there. Casio 50M watches are perfectly suited to swimming in, this guys terribly mistaken about only being able to wash your hands.

  • @MacroTime28800
    @MacroTime28800 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    It’s not cheap but if you consider they had to redesign it, they had to set up the tooling for the run of 4000 and lots of other stuff to make this watch. 4000 watches, multiplied by $500, that’s 2M. Sure, they will make decent profit on them but not as much as they have on watches that cost $30 and they would have sold hundreds of thousands of them.
    Probably one of Casio’s least profitable watches. Not my cup of tea but for the guys who like the design, I think it’s a fair deal 👍

  • @shadowpandapc
    @shadowpandapc 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

    Straight from casio:
    So it should be wearing during showering and normal swimming
    50M Water Resistance: Wearable around sinks, during swimming, athletic sports, in shallow waters, but not while snorkeling or scuba diving.
    So its still a daily wear item you can wear without removing for 99% of people 99% of the time

    I love it. I think it's really pretty. I collect vintage Casiotrons and I love them for their retro designs. I don't even mind that it doesn't have sapphire crystal or 200m water resistance. But for $500, the TRN-50 is just far too expensive. The scalpers can have this one. I'd rather get a metal GShock.

  • @Mondo_37

    I love this watch but I couldn’t pay $500 for it. I’d get an Oceanus T200 instead, also has Bluetooth and radio atomic time, 100 meters water resistance, and legit luxury level case finishing, and you can get one for about $400.

    Received mine today here in Mumbai, India, and cannot hold myself back from looking at it over and over again - beautiful design, stellar display and awesome bracelet - it's all there. As a Casio fan, and a watch collector, I couldn't be happier! The best digital watch money can buy. Period. This is made in Japan bottom up, and the build quality completely justifies the price.

    It's got a full stainless case, it's an STN LCD, mb6/solar/Bluetooth link, looks great - all the things that Casio nerds want - of course it won't be cheap. The price isn't crazy, it's a similar module to the full metal square, which is around that price. Only bummer is the low WR and the limited run.

    you are right about there being a lot of GShocks that you would want to buy before you spend $500 on this. But....that is not a fair comparison. This Casio reissue serves an entirely different purpose than a GShock. This Casio looks like you should wear it to the office, whereas a GShock is what you wear in the field (military, law enforcement, construction, etc.). Having said that, there are also a dozens of other watches suitable for the office environment for less than $500. So I'm not sure who this is for, other than someone that simply loves nostalgia.

    I agree that for $500 it should come with sapphire crystal. I can also understand that you could get a 5610 for similar specs, but you are missing the point of what this watch is. This is an anniversary edition that harkens back to Casios first watch. It’s a collector piece, not something to go camping with. No one complained about the metal square G Shocks that cost $600 and were never limited/numbered. Yes they more water resistant but still have the same mineral crystal. Only the titanium squares have sapphire crystals and how much do they start at? Even in those, when is the last time they released a numbered special edition?

  • @michaelredding6219
    @michaelredding6219 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Seems like half the review was knocking the water resistance which to me is moot on this type of watch.
    Will be curious to see what folks think about the build quality and the bracelet in particular after they handle it, but my initial impression is $249 would be the absolute limit on price. $500 because it's "limited" feels way over the top.

    • @Turmogo
      @Turmogo 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Are you kidding?
      This Casiotron is far superior to the Tissot, the module is infinitely more advanced, also the display has STN technology which makes it have better contrast and viewing angles while the Tissot has an ordinary LCD. The case is also superior with the screwed back cover instead of a simple snap-on cover of the Tissot, it's better finished, etc.
      Furthermore Casio has much more experience and knowledge in digital movements which will probably make it more reliable and durable.
      And then we have the design of the watch itself, the Casio has an original design and conceived to be a digital watch, while the Tissot is the same case as the analog PRX.
      Tissot could have made something much better, but they have gone for the easy way and made a watch that makes no sense at all, even the casio A1000 or the A1100 are a better choice than that digital PRX.

    Like most people her - it seems - I very much like the look of the watch. But 500 bucks 💰💰💰will be a dealbreaker for me😥😥😥. This one is even more expensive than the overpriced Tissot PRX digital. This looks more like CASIO wanting to cash in 💸💸💸 on its anniversary than celebrate it.🎉🎉🎉

    To save u 4 mins in your life, the watch is "overpriced" because of lack of higher water-resistant level 🙄 I mean, Isn’t it just enough to wash hands and get out in the rain with a watch? Is it necessary to wear it while swimming, diving, bathing or sauna?

    • @lostalx

      Dude Citizen Super Titanium Armor has Eco Drive, 100M, Sapphire and DLC COATING. This is a rip off.

    • @lumoshu4434
      @lumoshu4434 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@lostalx this citizen watch u mentioned, does it have auto time correction function like multi-band 6 or Bluetooth connectivity? Does it have backlight? Is it limited with individual numbering? Does it pay homage to the very first citizen watch with original design? Does it have world time, stopwatch, timer, alarm clock, hourly signal, event reminder? Is the utility of a titanium case comparable with all the features above?
      Most importantly, a citizen geek with adequate budgets would never consider AW1660 simply because it’s relatively inferior among other citizen watches; but a Casio geek, even though he has owned several $4000 MRG watches, he would still want this TRN-50 simply for its historical value. So, if it’s still a ripoff to u, just buy the citizen 🤷‍♂️
