      It is a seriously impressive bit of kit. A lot of info to remember too being Hybrid! It's a good all round car for the money.

    MG really have done well making these looks as good as anything else in the sector and the interior design and quality is impressive..I'm with you on that touch screen though, it looks like a few manufacturers are starting to learn that we still like physical switchgear for certain functions.
    Ten speed auto seems overkill. Especially when you consider an Artic tends to have a 12 speed auto these days and a rigid truck typically an eight speed transmission.

      They have done well with the design front! It's a good all round set up. I'm glad that MG have the screen shortcut buttons to press. I'm not anti screen, they have their place but a button is just easier whilst on the move. 10 speed does sound overkill but it is 6 speed petrol and 4 speed electric so that 10 speed is combined (it is very complicated electronic wizardry)

    Superb, Mr Bill! Spacious, well equipped and swift. I enjoyed the 1,100 miles I spent with the car earlier this month, although I found the fuel economy on the motorway a bit disappointing. Around town was a bit better, especially if one can run it regularly in EV only mode.

    • @FuelPower

      Thank you Joseph! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your time with the HS Hybrid! I found EV mode very impressive as you know!

      Hello. Would you be able to tell me the average fuel economy you were getting on the motorway? I'll be doing around 140 miles round trip motorway only about once a week and my current car does around 31 mpg. I wonder how HS PHEV compares to that. Very hard to find that detail online. Thanks!

      @lloydvehicleconsulting 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@eskimoundercover , have a look at the three videos on my channel I did in September on this car. That should answer your questions in exquisite detail...

      @eskimoundercover 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lloydvehicleconsulting Thanks. That helped a lot. I guess the results will be vastly different depending on the style of driving and the temperature. But I'd take 43 mpg for a mix of motorway and city driving any day over what I'm getting now. Cheers :)

    Hi.... so you start the car in petrol mode... can you drive it solely in electric... I do lots of 5-10 mile journeys and this car might be the one ... looks great... thx

    • @FuelPower
      @FuelPower  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The MG HS Hybrid has up to 32 miles of range on electric mode so for a 5-10 mile journey, it should easily keep you going and then when the electricity runs out, you have a petrol back up.

    • @timbengtson
      @timbengtson 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you don't have the heating on or climate control, you don't have to start the ICE just select EV mode and you should run on purely electric.

    Frankly the plug in concept is a con. The car isn't a proper hybrid. It's actually a petrol car that lugs around heavy batteries. Or it's an electric car that has very little range for driving any distance. And then a 5 hour wait time to fully recharge. A Prius can be driven continually and cover 1000k in the day and it will use a fraction of the fuel! Its little better than an electric milk cart!
    The MG HS in petrol form is much cheaper and all round is a much better car for travelling any sort of distance. Having driven the petrol version I was really impressed.

      Bought one (NZ). Daily commute is 55km, so mostly on EV every day. Currently averaging 1.6 L/100km, which will only get lower. Irregular long trips will lift it and I think it’ll probably do 6.5-7L/100km in that scenario. Fine with us. Filled up the tank three weeks ago and still above 3/4 tank. Love that.

      Hugh,
      You have totally missed the point of a PHEV. I had an Outlander PHEV a few years ago and in 6 months I filled the petrol tank TWICE!!
      On mainly town driving you hardly ever use the petrol engine.
      Overall driving you can get nearly 100MPG
      Charging. What is the problem with how long it takes? charge it over night and HEAT IT while you sleep for a nice toasty car on a cold morning.
      Mike Brook, if anybody buys this car and doesn't charge it they are total numpties. They will only get about 50 mpg. (still not bad for a 2 ton brick) but they will be wasting money. If they don't charge it they may as well buy an ICE HS.

  • @colinlambert791

    CHANGE A BULB????What are you on about? Do your homework. Exclusive has LED lights. IF and WHEN they fail, it is garage only replacement, but they should last the life of the car.
    And you can open the boot with the key!
