    Not deer might just be regular deer, as they can be rather creepy in behavior, especially if you don't know what they're doing. They can stand on their hind legs and walk bidepally for short distances, which they mostly do to reach low hanging branches. When they shed their velvet, it looks rather gruesome, as if there's bloody flesh hanging off of their antlers, and they try to get it off by scraping their heads against rocks. There are multiple accounts of people witnessing deer with bloody flesh on their antlers beating their heads against rocks or trees, and then standing up and walking away like a human, and these people are absolutely terrified, not realizing this is perfectly normal deer behavior. Of course, reports of unusual anatomy of the not deer aren't explained by this, but they could easily be people misinterpreting what they saw

    The Stickman around 30:00 is not much of a mystery. I think some people are so desperate to see mysteries everywhere that they look for deeper/hidden meanings in other people who just happen to be a bit eccentric. My father arranges rock patterns in the yard for hours every weekend; he's been doing it for decades. If a neighbor asks him (whenever we get a new neighbor, they inevitably eventually do), he just tells them some crazy BS story about aliens or graves so that they don't talk to him again. There's probably a reddit thread about him somewhere lol

    For the uncanny valley one: Homo Sapiens Sapiens weren’t always the only human species. There used to be competition between different human species which would have given us an evolutionary reason for us to fear something that looks like us. So that one is actually pretty scientifically and biologically sound.

  • @indiana47
    @indiana47 2 ปีที่แล้ว +23

    The severed feet actually has an explanation. Lots of coastal cities are around Vancouver with lots of people, people sometimes die in water whether it be from suicide, accidents, or foul play, bodies break apart in water, shoes are really the only buoyant part of the corpses, and water currents would carry the floating shoes with feet in them to the same beach.

    • @FTZPLTC
      @FTZPLTC 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I think the shoes also result in a lack of access for predation. My guess is that it would seem like an unusual phenomenon because most people who go into the water and die there will probably have taken their shoes off first.

    I live in the U.S. Appalachia area (state of Tennessee) and I can attest there are strange things in these mountains. The forests of America are no less ancient than the forests of Europe and Asia. I actually woke up early one morning and saw a not deer in my yard just staring at me. My brother was using the only bathroom we had so I had to walk outside to relieve my bladder and that's when I saw it staring at me, menacingly. It had two faces and 5 legs not to mention fangs that went down below its chin. I ran in to get my 30-06 rifle that was propped up near the front door but as soon as I grabbed it the not deer was gone. *shudders* hope I never see that thing again.

    Ah, this was a very cool video! You clearly put a lot of time and effort into it, and it shows. Highly enjoyed this as I was doing some extremely boring work and listening to this may it way less tedious. One note: the evolutionary basis for the uncanny valley may very well be rooted in the fact that 3, perhaps 4, possibly even more hominids coexisted at one point in our evolutionary history. Not just Neanderthals, but Denisovans, and possibly H. naledi.

    The dyatlov pass incident was actually pretty much solved if I remember rightly, by the team behind Frozen developing better simulations for snowfall. The theory goes that it was in fact an avalanche that killed them, and the tears in the tent were due to them sleeping with their hiking equipment inside the tent. If they were found naked it's likely due to the physiological response the body has to overheat a lot when dangerously cold, which caused them to take off their clothes. The bruising and scratching of course due to the collision happening inside the tent from the avalanche. I'm not sure if it's a completely closed case now, but it's by far the most convincing argument!

      Basically, the makers of Frozen needed a good snow simulation, because there’s so much snow in the movie. Using that simulation, someone realized that snow in an avalanche could cause the same kind of damage as in the Pass Incident-

  • @Spectorael
    @Spectorael 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    The TH-camr Caitlin Doughty or Ask a Mortician, has a good video on how Frozen may have solved the Dytlov pass incident using the ai generated snow used in the movie. I may not remember everything but I believe it was caused by them cutting into unstable snow which later caused an avalanche onto their tent, and weather later covered up the evidence. They then cut themselves out of their tent and all eventually succumbed to hypothermia. Their eyes and tounges were pulled out by scavanging animals and the radioactivity may have been given off by their lamps.

    The stick man may be of Indigenous American descent, it may be a cultural practice if it is built on a grave sight. As an Indigenous Australian, I can say there’s a lot of grief around our ancestors burial grounds, especially mass graves that our ancestors were put in by white people, and were not given the tradition burial. That old man might just wanna give his ancestors somewhat of a traditional burial that they were not given. Also congratulations on your 100th video :))

    I've never seen machine elves any of the 30+ times I've taken DMT lol
    Also, a note on "Greek fire", the only reason we can't "recreate" it is because we don't know the exact recipe. We know that there was tar, and we've created many things similar to what has been recorded about it using materials that were available at the time, but we can't definitively say that we've made it due to not knowing exactly what it was. We very well may have recreated it already, but we can't 100% confirm that without a recipe.

    Last one, I swear. When working to determine if a video or photo is a hoax or not, the first step is to question why the person was filming or taking photos. If there's no good reason, for example, they are just recording themselves driving. They "just so happen" to have their phone or camera when it makes no sense to have it. If they have no reason for taking video or photos, they are taking them in order to manipulate them later.

    As for the uncanny valley thing: I personally presume that it is because of other archaic hominid species. Maybe some were viewed as threats. We really can't know everything about the past (more specifically who we coexisted with), and new discoveries set us back hundreds of milleniums quite often. Note that I'm not specifying that it was Neanderthals or Denisovans as we obviously interbred, and I personally posit that we wouldn't have done so if we were afraid of them (who really knows though?). That's my first theory. My second theory is that we dislike things that are human-esq because they often look a little off. This might translate in our brains as 'sick', and it would make sense from an evolutionary standpoint that we would want to avoid ill hominids. Although, this one is more of a stretch than my initial theory.

    Okay so I've heard quite a few on here but the one about the mummified girl I looked into years ago when I first heard about it (can't remember if Caitlin douty made a video about it or not but I wouldn't be surprized) so her fathers embalming fluid was of his own recipe and we still don't know what it was (this is common to happen among the embalmed of well perceived mumies). The reason this girls eyes appear to open and close is because they technically do! Yes the majority of it is an optical illusion but it's still really neat. Here's how it works:
    During the day when the temperature changes from cold to warm it causes the eyes to open ever so slightly. Warm things expand qnd cold things contract. Her eyes work the same way. The light changing through the room qt different times of the day make it look so her eyes are more open than they actually are! In the morning they look closed qnd in the evening they look open. Not sure if they still do but they used to do tours around the hour her eyes open.

    Isn’t the standing theory for the severed feet washing ashore have to do with how the body of someone who drowned decays in the water? Because the feet tend to be in shoes it’s believed the shoes keep them kind of preserved and as the body breaks down they detach at the ankles. I remember hearing this, I think from an article about that from CNN or NPR about the mystery potentially being solved. I wish I could remember more details, but I think the shoes had something to do with it.

    • @brennap337
      @brennap337 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, if you body is weighted down your shoes will cause your feet to float, and when you decompose to a certain point they'll just pick up and float away

    "Ads read your mind" is very real. Using Machine Learning algorithms, and Statistics, they build a profile of you, and what you're most likely gravitating towards. They initially tag these ads, then tag you to these ads.
    These tags are sold to AdSense or another Ad Company that sells this information to other services. When you sign up for a service with Google, or use the same email, as well as have your web information exposed, the profile they build of you assigns tags to this information, so the next time you go some place, they know what ad to give you.
    It's far more complicated but it's eerie.

    The cosmic censorship thing based on what you explained basically means that we don't actually see the singularity (a single point where gravity is heavily condensed and the only place in the universe where information can be lost), we only see the effects the gravity has on objects around it.
    The "event horizon" is like a shell around it, once the light passes that point it can't come out. Therefore there's no way for it or anything inside it to be visually observed from a distance, and to our knowledge anything that crosses inside the event horizon can't return (obversational instruments like cameras included).
    So the universe is "censoring" whatever information lies inside that shell. (Heavy metaphors being used here) It's something where we may never actually be able to unlock the secrets behind that shell; hence the idea that the universe is censoring that material ("consciously" or not is up to the greater philosophers and scientists to debate). This theory also postulated that there are no "naked singularities", meaning every black hole has the event horizon "shell" to hide its secrets from observation.

    I genuinely believe the theory that our fear of the uncanny valley is linked to serial killers. Honestly I forgot where I read about the idea but basically it sprouted up because humans can detect when another person isn't being entirely authentic. Maybe their smile is a bit too wide or their eyes have a predatory gleam to them - similar to what you'd see from uncanny valley photos. There was also a time where different species of humans roamed the earth, so that's probably what uncanny valley evolved from.
    TDLR; Uncanny valley evolved because there were once multiple human species that roamed earth. The reason why we didn't loose this fear is because of serial killers

    Okay I think I know what the "life inside the black hole" is about maybe. First you have to know what a theoretical white hole is. The short version is that black holes kinda breaks Einsteins theory of general relativity and the third law of thermodynamics but white holes would explain it and solves this thing called the black hole information paradox. Which Is a new other thing. White holes are essentially are the opposite of a black hole in that nothing can enter it and except for sucking in the universe white holes is the other end (or maybe the natural result of) expands the Universe. With that out of the way, we all heard how if you fall Into a black hole you'll get spaghettified but what you might not know is that only applies to smaller black holes. You might not notice any effect to your self at all if you fell into a super black hole. What you will notice is that you would seem like you are falling through space time for a very long time till you eventually hit the singularity. (Or maybe exit a white hole which might of been the big bang, just a theory). So you could live in a black hole for a while. Obviously we haven't been to one yet so that's where the rest is lost to me.

    Great video. It's really interesting to me to see how simple visual misunderstandings, or maybe seeing a deformed animal that has some sort of disability or abnormal growth Lee's rumors to spread and people start believing their some sort of undiscovered alien creatures out in the forest, when it was probably just a deer with a deformed head or a major injury to its head (talking specifically about "not a deer") to me there's no way that "not a deer" thing isn't just regular deers that people think are some sort of weird demonic creature cause they look abnormal lol

    For the uncanny valley, the theory I think is most accurate is that it was developed as way to avoid diseases such as rabies. Ones that are deadly to humans and, once a person is infected, makes them act and behave in very very non-human/unnatural ways. It makes the most sense from both a logical and evolutionary standpoint. Disease was an invisible threat that you don't know is happening until you see the symptoms, so our brains developing a natural aversion to people displaying those symptoms or acting in nonhuman ways makes sense.

    The severed feet was explained over a decade ago. And it's a continous thing that happens up and down the North American continent. Thousands of people die at sea, or are dumped. Tides bring parts to the coasts. Feet still in shoes is common because the foot breaks off at the ankle during decomposition. Sea life nibble up much of the body bits, but the shoes float, with the naturally severed feet. Thus, tide dumps them on shore during flow.

    Dyatlov pass was solved. They were able to run simulations and what not showing that it very much was likely a sudden avalanche and subsequent hypothermia that killed them (like in the range of 99% sure). The missing pieces and parts from the bodies are a result of animals scavenging as things like eyes and tongues are usually the first to get picked off by animals.
