He was one of the most coolest people to ever walk the planet. Knew when to think outside the box and when to step inside it, while at the same time staying true to himself. An artist who won't be matched, only mimicked.
One of my favourites. Apparently partly based on a Kirk Douglas film where a couple who realise they're falling out of love and are desperately trying to revive the feelings they had when they first met.
This almost sounds like an Elvis song rather than one written by Bowie. I can imagine Elvis singing this originally!! ....and then Bowie doing a cover years later and totally making the song his own. As he did with both 'Sorrow' , and 'Wild is the wind'.
Loved this man since I was 13 now 56 the only man I never had an argument with, David Bowie I love u so much, u are the best man in my life ❤️ u a legend my star man, love you forever ❤️ 💜 💙
All our friends Now seem so thin and frail Slinky secrets Hotter than the sun No peachy frairs No trendy rechauffe I'm with you So I can't go on All my violence raining tears upon the sheets I'm bewildered, for we're strangers when we meet Blank screen tv Preening ourselves in the snow Forget my name But I'm over you Blended sunrise And it's a dying world Humming Rheingold We scavenge up our clothes All my violence, raging tears upon the sheets I'm resentful, for we're strangers when we meet Cold tired fingers Tapping out your memories Halfway sadness Dazzled by the new Your embrace It was all that I feared That whirling room We trade by vendu Steely resolve is falling from me My poor soul, poor bruised passivity All your regrets ran rough-shod over me I'm so glad that we're strangers when we meet I'm so thankful, cause we're strangers when we meet. I'm in clover, for we're strangers when we meet. Heel head over, cause we're strangers when we meet.
Beautiful rendition of the song. I can't get enough of the vocal on this song, there's just something about the chorus that is so... beautiful. Sort of a pointless interview... about 30 seconds or so... which was wasted by Jay Leno being dense.
Flopped, what's your definition of flopped? Bowie was back to making the music that made him an icon. Even though this song was the most commercial sounding song on Outside, Bowie no longer cared about the top 40 at this point.

he knew when to go out, he knew when to stay in
The most beautiful song he wrote, in my opinion, heartbreaking...can´t listen to it without getting tears in my eyes... Perfection.
Same for me it's a true true work of art magnifique!!

Feel the same 💔
agree

I can't stop listening to every version of this song.
+atkersong all your regrets, ride ruption over mee
+fakejameh it's "All your regrets Ride rough-shod over me" ride roughshod over, to treat harshly or domineeringly; override; crush: :)
huskvnj thankyou my friend
+fakejameh No Problem,Glad to help :) it's such a brilliant line, as are all the lyrics in this song :)
yes it is. very good wordsmith was bowie, also a very hard worker with all the concepts for his album
his voice.. still makes me cry
When I used to busk with acoustic guitar in the NYC subway stations, I would always end my set with this song.
Gail Ann Dorsey.....digging the haunting bass licks.....

Beautiful song, very well perfomed here. Beautiful backing vocal adding to David's stunning lead
A Bowie song never really given its deserve... sings it here best in his lower croon, as we all love... looks great, as we always knew
une voix une classe comme personne unique bowie une légende pour des siècles
Thank you for posting this amazing song...I miss that guy's music a LOT
All our friends
Now seem so thin and frail
Slinky secrets
Hotter than the sun
No peachy frairs
No trendy rechauffe
I'm with you
So I can't go on
All my violence raining tears upon the sheets
I'm bewildered, for we're strangers when we meet
Blank screen tv
Preening ourselves in the snow
Forget my name
But I'm over you
Blended sunrise
And it's a dying world
Humming Rheingold
We scavenge up our clothes
All my violence, raging tears upon the sheets
I'm resentful, for we're strangers when we meet
Cold tired fingers
Tapping out your memories
Halfway sadness
Dazzled by the new
Your embrace
It was all that I feared
That whirling room
We trade by vendu
Steely resolve is falling from me
My poor soul, poor bruised passivity
All your regrets ran rough-shod over me
I'm so glad that we're strangers when we meet
I'm so thankful, cause we're strangers when we meet.
I'm in clover, for we're strangers when we meet.
Heel head over, cause we're strangers when we meet.
You will miss us forever. Goodbye my sweet, precious white Duke. . Thanks for all your golden music, we won't forget you....
My beautiful Bowie! 😍
this song can cure depression... believe me!
I thought I loved The Beatles or Crimson but David Bowie is my musical god.
Thanks for this. I've not seen this song live before. ❤️
You're most welcome, and glad to know you saw it here first!
His voice is much needed these days. We'll meet you in heaven stranger
Really miss him💗💗
spot on
なんて綺麗なメロディーなんだろうか‥これがあるからこの人からは離れられない
Easily my favorite song by him.
One of the most beautiful song ever

I miss you - I miss you - I miss you...X 😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥
The man was a god .
Love this performance. Always been a bigger fan of the 1993 version, but this is so gorgeous performed here.
❤❤❤
This was like a successor to Heroes

Good god, he is so handsome here! And he sounds fantastic!
Great!!!
woooouw !!!
How can I say Love?
He was always f - damned good looking, but this is Bowie the man. Seems like he was very lucky that time with his big love, so chilled
'that time with his big love, so chilled'?
the album was wrote in real time!!! hahaha
Did he not love his eyeliner?
Beautiful rendition of the song. I can't get enough of the vocal on this song, there's just something about the chorus that is so... beautiful. Sort of a pointless interview... about 30 seconds or so... which was wasted by Jay Leno being dense.
+whataboutredlorry you could argue bowie was being a bit absent minded and forceful though;; a bit of gibberish
He made it a point to come off that way.
Jay Leno is a tool.
You need the money Mick.
What the hell was he saying in this song? No wonder he flopped in the 90's.
Flopped, what's your definition of flopped? Bowie was back to making the music that made him an icon. Even though this song was the most commercial sounding song on Outside, Bowie no longer cared about the top 40 at this point.
+Drackkor Just lyrics that people can understand when sung and that make sense. That's my definition of flop! :)
+Drackkor The lyrics are just beautiful
+Juan Carlos Avila I'm with you.
The lyrics are just as vaguely entrancing as Heroes.
Favorite David Bowie song ❤
David had to know that Kadeem Hardison is Beth Ann Hardison's son because Beth Ann is one of Iman's closest friends since the early 70's...
one of my all time favorite songs but then again soooooo many classics this guy was a genius
