now that bionicle's been discontinued for a while now, twice, I dont really care for "legitimacy" in the pieces. If people want to make entirely new pieces that never existed, id be down for that too. these are just really cool
Just FYI, the "Pearl Gold" Kraahkan shown is a bit off in colour, it's lighter and has more red in the mix. Further down the list is his newer "Bionicle Gold" which is supposed to be a much better reproduction! Waiting on mine to arrive at the moment and will report on it when it's here
I'm curious, did your masks arrive? How does the gold color hold up?
I think glow in the dark are the coolest recolors

Those transparent neon masks give me classic LEGO space and Aquazone vibes, and I love it. Also been thinking a lot about dyed LEGO parts. As soon as bootleg socket pieces become available, the Bionicle moc community is gonna have a huge revival.
If bootleg parts means that replication of OFFICIAL parts is coming soon, that’s amazing. So many rare parts could become available to newer fans or people with smaller collections
5:31 I think there are some trans neon green parts that those would match up with. Some of the larger dishes from Exploriens look like they would be about the same shade.
I recently received a bootleg mask I bought. It's a Black Kraahkan (Makuta Teridax's Mask of Shadows) made out of BLACK MATTE STEEL. It's so awesome and the perfect, most fitting replacement possible for my original Makuta Teridax's mask, which is so old and scratched and bent. It's even got a twisted axel piece that makes his mask crooked on his face. But that's no matter anymore! Now I can retire the actual mask and fit the dark lord with a real, steel mask complete with its sturdy weight and power. I also bought some Rahkshi head and armour kits to make NEW Rahkshi with never before seen colors, and I'm so excited for them to get here! I'm going to make some TH-cam videos about them as soon as I build them after they arrive. Bootlegging Bionicle pieces has completely rejuvenated the franchise for me.
I'm a pretty staunch purist, but I can appreciate high quality third party items for Bionicle because of just how limited some parts are. It's not System where there's thousands of parts in hundreds of colors from across the past 60+ years, and there's always new parts being made and often in many colors, too. Ever since 2004, the lack of alternate colors of masks has very much affected the possibilities of MOCists because the mask starts to just become a character's face, it's not as open to being a new character but instead just another revamp of the official one from the story because that mask only ever came in that one color. I'm not so keen on clone brands, although every now and then you see some cool parts, but for third parties that specifically work in masks, I'm more forgiving toward their use in MOCs.

I love bootleg parts, especially Legos competition. Kreo kreon parts work so well for Lego and adds so much detail in such small spaces.
The more that time passes, the more important it is that we fans produce our own parts.
For the different colors of the Kraahkan mask for different Makutas with each separate look, backstory, and lore which will be a fun idea for a collaboration

I just made a video going over these too and it's worth noting these Kraahkans are all the 6 hole variant, as opposed to Lego's Pearl and Flat gold versions having only 4 holes. (The knock off holes are also a bit larger due to the files used to machine the molds!)

YESSSSS i got the trans lime Kraahkan just the other day! I was planning on just having it as a display but i was tinkering & i made a banger design that made an impact on me

he just dropped a almost 1:1 pearl gold krahkaan, the color is called bionicle gold and also dark turquiose and purple, to make more mctoran! can't wait for mine!
My takes on lego bootleg pieces : i like the challenge of building only with lego, so i m not a fan of buying these. I can understand when it s a 100% match with a lego piece ( because people can really build it with lego ) but with new molds and color variants, well... let s just say it has better stick to the masks only, so for exemple, the invisible sword isnt a moc that makes me dream at all, because i know there is no way to build it woth lego only, or then he wouldnt be invisible. Tho i do remember someone building one with only lego pieces and i found it amazing, because they built with a heavy parts restriction. Also, another part where i m willing to consider bootleg : motor and batterie. Not to add functionality ( buwizz receiver/battery for exemple ) but to lower the price of existing lego pieces ( the original lego buggy motor price is insane, so yup, i m considering buying a bootleg one, same for the original lego power function rechargeable battery... )

I'm all for third party pieces as long as the quality is good. I know it's controversial since a lot of bootlegs are made with Lego's intellectual property, but they aren't making Bionicle anymore so I think it's fair

Honestly, I think it's almost praise worth to resurrect parts, and in particular to hone the means to achieve the correct dimensions and durability... praise worthy to say the least.
Out of respect of course remove and lego numbers and logos, but to keep Bionicle going with reproducible lines of STL's/3d prints, worth while.

I've been considering getting Kenny's Haus, but I might want too much for my own good (the 6 Turaga colours, the 6 Metru colours, and al lthe trans shades there is )😅.

Good video, Bootleg masks ain't my cup of tea, but it's still a good way to make your Mocs pop nevertheless. Also I like to use the term bootleg for extremely low quality Lego and custom Lego for more higher quality Lego to not make the high quality companies look like they are on par with things like Lepin.
There are two kinds of people:
People who buy these masks and are not using them for their matoran collection and people like me who are using them for their matoran collection.
My one dream is getting an Ignika in flat dark gold, hopefully with reproduction masks my dream can come true.
I got my dark gold 2002 Makuta cheap. FYI I'm collecting parts to build my own Makuta KAMUROK. Spoken = Kamu + Rock. If enunciated correctly you'll feal like you spat out a fire ball.

I define custom as "made by the builder for personal use" and bootleg/clone as "made to sell". These are loose definitions and there are exceptions.
Its so expensive! Its cheaper to 3d print.
