LGHS Mattoon Act

“The Matoon Act,” by Helen M. Ofield, with the Lemon Grove Historical Society and the former 19-year president of the Lemon Grove Historical Society. Helen now serves on the board as a historian. “The Matoon Act” is an interesting story pertaining to Everett Matoon, and his intention to facilitate community development by allowing local authorities to create improvements. The act was repealed in 1933.
