Been a fan of John's and Duran Duran since 1982 and am still one now. Have only been able to afford to see them once in my life, but I will always support them. Hope he and D2 stay sober and healthy for many years to come. 😘💟
Met DD back in 1982 when they were opening for Blondie and I knew they were something special, have followed them ever since and so so proud they are STILL HERE and still making amazing music! Thanks Boys!
Not the best bass player, but equally as good as the rest. He's been at it a long time. Mark King is another great bassist from Level 42. Lots of good bassists out there and some are female!!
John’s superb bass playing got overlooked because of his good looks and the famous music videos to their songs and the fashion as well of the time. Deep down he just wants to be remembered as a serious musician.
John is very talented and intelligent...not to mention a beautiful smile. I enjoyed the interview. Duran Duran is a very amazing band with each member playing an integral piece in making music and putting on an awesome show...each one of these gentlemen brings their unique talent to the talent, but John is definitely the Bass God. Time to get these knighted as ambassadors of misic and the donations they support. Love you John❤
Aww, John is the best!! He’s still so personable. Loved him since 1982!!!😮😅He turns it on still for sure! ❤❤❤❤ can’t wait for the Halloween show!! Somehow there’s still tickets available. Come to the show at MSG!! 🎃👻
John Taylor was my first crush when I was a little girl. My room was plastered with posters of him. John will always be my first love and Duran Duran was my introduction into music.
John Taylor was vital for Duran Duran music. His Chic (Bernard Edwards) school influence worked spectacularly well for Duran Duran. One of the great bands of the 80's if not THE greatest !!! Such talented musicians!! Long Live Duran Duran!
I have loved this man and band since I was 11 - way back in the day. They just keep getting better. Just saw them again in AC Saturday night and they were fabulous. And he is still so beautiful. #JohnTayloralwaysno1inmyheart
Very true...last comment about JT not being jaded made me realize none of them are...they are so rarely cynical and dont badmouth others, dont infer, insinuate or get passive aggressive. Plus they are permanen tly dynamic, vervy and empassioned ! It s truly inspiring.
Going to see DD on Halloween at Madison Square Garden. I am so excited! The band keeps evolving yet keeps true to themselves. Over 40 of my 58 years on Planet Earth with this beautiful, driving, ethereal force! John plays bass like no other!
I was at San Diego State University when they played there in '93. A transpo van dropped off a blonde guy wearing a pink ball cap and holding a keyboard. A pretty Latina girl was crying with tears pouring down her face. I asked her "who's that?" (I knew). She shouts out "It's Nick Rhodes!" Will never forget that. 😂
I’m old enough to remember listening 98 Rock in 1983 and I clearly remember them playing “Rio”, “Hungry Like the Wolf”, and “Union of the Snake” in rotation along with Def Leppard, Iron Maiden, and Quiet Riot. No one could deny their musicianship. It was New Wave that met Rock.
“Back when you were a star”??? Sorry… JT is still a star! My dude is one of the greatest bass players on the planet!!! In one of the greatest bands on the planet!!! I get the point and I’m kinda joking… but John Taylor is… a fucking star!!!
So funny that Justin Bieber came up in this interview.. circa 15 yrs ago i rode an elevator with John Taylor in Baton Rouge La after one of their shows; we had no idea they were town for a concert before meeting him, and we weren’t even 100% sure who he was.. he joked with my GF’s niece that he was in Justin Bieber’s band ! Then we realized he was in Duran Duran, and we chatted about soccer, American football and some other stuff.. it was a long elevator ride, lol, and he was a cool guy .
Became a fan the first time I heard Planet Earth, we just saw you guys last week at the PPL Center in Allentown. Great show as always! Still my favorite band.
I would have LOVED to come back stage and say "Howdy!" to my 5 guys. Saw them for the 6th time on Monday in PA. Not sure when #7 will be because I can't go to Baltimore on Monday. 😢
The year after, 1985 was such a big year in music and for so many musicians. And for some reason 1984 was a huge year for many popular artists to have a first or just a new record come out that year. But 1985 was the year CDs and cd players came out in popularity for the masses at possible pricing so quality and quantity in recordings and stereos (home, car, concert, etc.) went berserk. A lot changed in 1985 for music because of that technology. I think most musicians talk about how they at some point (early childhood age or older) one day said to themselves, hey, I’m gonna do that when I grow up or for a living. However back then they had no choice but to spend a long time learning whatever part they were going to play in a band. Today is very different in the amount of time they spend learning. Some (a lot less) learn their craft over a long time. But with how music is recorded today with so many audio elements that can be easily manipulated for instruments or vocals, a lot of famous artists haven’t spent nearly as much time on their trade before their fame so the quality and sound is very different yet the quantity of what’s being sold is higher than imaginable compared to 1985. It would be even more unbelievable before that changing year how anything is marketed and sold so quickly and easily today.
They've only been to St. Louis MO 5 times in all of their career. Once in '84, two times in '89, once in '93 and once in '05. Would love to see them but they haven't been here in 20 years. We're a large main city so it doesn't make sense why they don't come through here. I'm even willing to have the potential of getting mugged or murdered walking from my car to the auditorium to see them. They've been to some weird cities that I've never heard of before more than they've come here.
You to can make 3 or 4 hit songs playing simple bass guitar and be worth 40 Million dollars 40 years later....Talk about perfect timing...right place at the right time...dude is lucky as hell
I've been lucky enough to see quite a few musical acts over the years ( Prince, Michael Jackson, INXS, Billy Joel,Tears for fears, Bryan Adams U2, Elton, Sting, Ray Charles Stevie Wonder.... just to name a few and i also seen Duran Duran in the 1980's. They were one of the worst live bands i EVER saw. Totally rubbish!!!! What amazes me is i seen them perform live last year on the tele ( some 35 years later) and you'd think that they would have gotten better- BUT NO . They were just as bad- This was one group that was about the look.
Been a fan of John's and Duran Duran since 1982 and am still one now. Have only been able to afford to see them once in my life, but I will always support them. Hope he and D2 stay sober and healthy for many years to come. 😘💟
He’s so eloquent and seems to have really mastered knowing who he is. I’m so proud of him. ❤
Great conversationalist and interviewee!
Met DD back in 1982 when they were opening for Blondie and I knew they were something special, have followed them ever since and so so proud they are STILL HERE and still making amazing music! Thanks Boys!
The most underrated bass player in the world!
1,0000 PERCENT AGREE ALSO THE HOTTEST.🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯
Not underrated at all ,he’s in top 5 most years
underrated or justifiably celebrated?
Yes, it’s men who devalue good looking men! It’s cool for them to praise a less than great looking musician, ask any man who their favs are!
Not the best bass player, but equally as good as the rest. He's been at it a long time. Mark King is another great bassist from Level 42. Lots of good bassists out there and some are female!!

John has aged beautifully
Just read his book, in September, bought at Baltic seaside for 2 pounds hard cover. Good read!
John is very talented and intelligent...not to mention a beautiful smile. I enjoyed the interview. Drop dead gorgeous smile
Johns always seemed so humble and down to Earth ..even tho hes a huge star...loved him since 1982😊😊
One of my favorite bands! Always loved John!!
Duran Duran , fantastic band with a great bass player. Cheers for the great music .
I Love Duran Duran and handsome and best bass player John Taylor.
John Taylor is why I learned to play Bass. They were awesome in Allentown on Monday.
John "You Know" Taylor. A genius!
John taylor is a fantastic bass player 😊
John Taylor is one of the best interview subjects there is, his explanation of situations and life events is brilliant. Great interview.
Aww, John is the best!! He’s still so personable. Loved him since 1982!!!😮😅He turns it on still for sure! ❤❤❤❤ can’t wait for the Halloween show!! Somehow there’s still tickets available. Come to the show at MSG!! 🎃👻
My sister saw them at the Roxy in Hollywood with the Thompson Twins on their first tour. She had a table near the stage!
When my husband took me to meet him he was not friendly to us 👎🏼
@@KittyCatFurbabiesMaria1972 oh that stinks. When was that? Maybe circumstances?
"Back when you were a star.." girl! JT IS CURRENTLY a star! Bravo to him for not taking offense 😮
Lol, I picked up on that too. Another DJ that doesn't do their research before their interview 🙄.
Same here. Like…they’re on tour now. That’s why you’re interviewing him.
Still, it was a fun little chat.
Right?! John is an icon and still the most beautiful man in the world (in my opinion).😂❤
He is a bass God.
@@aangeli83I agree
We love Duran Duran…as much as you love American fans, we love you guys even more…❤️
John Taylor was my first crush when I was a little girl. My room was plastered with posters of him. John will always be my first love and Duran Duran was my introduction into music.
I had a bit of a thing with him in the Rumrunner days (1981) He was sooooo gorgeous!
Same! Posters on the ceiling, even! Absolutely obsessed and wouldn't date anyone at school!
They are great guys; awesome music, but wow they were in the right place at the right time. They were exactly what MTV needed at that time.
John Taylor was vital for Duran Duran music. His Chic (Bernard Edwards) school influence worked spectacularly well for Duran Duran. One of the great bands of the 80's if not THE greatest !!! Such talented musicians!! Long Live Duran Duran!
Wow! John still looks incredibly young
Filters are known to do that. But I partly agree.
I have loved this man and band since I was 11 - way back in the day. They just keep getting better. Just saw them again in AC Saturday night and they were fabulous. And he is still so beautiful. #JohnTayloralwaysno1inmyheart
I took my 15 year old daughter to see them in Baltimore! Amazing to go back in time for two hours… incredible
I will forever love you John. ❤
Very true...last comment about JT not being jaded made me realize none of them are...they are so rarely cynical and dont badmouth others, dont infer, insinuate or get passive aggressive. Plus they are permanen tly dynamic, vervy and empassioned ! It s truly inspiring.
John goes into the top ten bass players of all time IMO. Him and Bernard Edwards. Technically brilliant, both of them.
Going to see DD on Halloween at Madison Square Garden. I am so excited! The band keeps evolving yet keeps true to themselves. Over 40 of my 58 years on Planet Earth with this beautiful, driving, ethereal force! John plays bass like no other!
LOVE LOVE LOVE JT (but Nick was always my fave lol)!!!! I've been a Duranie since 1983. ❤❤❤
I was at San Diego State University when they played there in '93. A transpo van dropped off a blonde guy wearing a pink ball cap and holding a keyboard. JT! What a guy!!
John I hope you are enjoying your new life and doing well. ❤
We love you JT❤
Taylor is a great bassist,
Saw Duran in '84 in Houston, TX...JT was part of the reason I picked up bass. I still play and my band has music on Spotify
Saw Duran Duran in Berkeley a few years ago! Fantastic!
Was famous...still is!!!!
"You know, you know"
Count how many times he says "you know" in this short interview 😂
“Back when you were a star”??? Sorry… JT is still a star! My dude is one of the greatest bass players on the planet!!! In one of the greatest bands on the planet!!! I get the point and I’m kinda joking… but John Taylor is… a fucking star!!!
we in Canada loved you too!!!
Like that he's wearing an Aston Villa hat, the soccer team that's trending now and John's home town team. Up The Villa!
Villa aren’t “trending”, they’ve just been having a good run of form over the last couple of seasons.

"when you were a star".... Excuse me, he's still a star!!! Only kidding, great interview :)
Thank Christ for sobriety & survival, mate.
🔥🔥🔥
Even blokes fancied John in the 80s. lol. Feelings are good is a great single, as is the stuff he did with The Power Station.

Why is Marianne's mic facing the wall? It's not a side-address mic.

Nigel! We want you in Australia please 🩷🩷🩷🩷
My crush in the 80's, most people are focused on the lead singer.........Not with John Taylor playing that bass. Sexy af ❤
Top bass player and top man. Interesting his accent and way of talking is half American - at least to my British ear.
Holymolygodbless🎉😊😅😅
i with john taylor had met liam payne
JOHN TAYLOR = GOD.
no....
My first crush back in 1983 when I was a little girl. Still hot!
Duran Duran like the Beatles?????? REALLY..???
they picked up the baton from japan who did all the r and d for them.
That’s the Duran Duran look, clean shaven and very very well manicured finger nails. 😂

Ok, but how many "YOU KNOW"? 🙄😘😍
