I used to work in leather and it was not so easy like that. I learned about few new tools(at least for me) and just order the rotary cutter because I don't cut leather nicely. thanks so much for all the tips
Hi Elle-Very nice bag. I must confess that, even though I have been doing leather work for 12 years, I am still a little bit confused as to how to assemble the bag. I will review your layout of the material and see if that helps. I would really like to make this for my wife; it won't say "COACH"; but it will cost a LOT less and will be unique. Thanks again, John

about as simple as can be. cut out, sew seams, add drawstring and strap and you're done. I hate the hole punches with hollow handles though. I've bent the handles on several. I now use either solid metal handles or the kind you use with a hammer.
Hey +Florencia Cortez ! It depends on the thickness of the leather or fabric you buy and the power of your machine. Most older metal machines are best for this type of work as they have a little more power than the modern ones! Elle xo
Hi +linh I can't reply directly to you sorry, I use a Toyota Super Jeans, it only works for thin leather though, and it doesn't control the stitch length, so not great for all projects. It is a pain as when I bought it I was told there was a stitch length dial and it wasn't the case :'( I'm probably going to change it soon.
Elle and the Ladies, Can anybody explain to me the bottom? I made the pattern, do not understand where the handle comes in cuz I didn't see measurements for that. I really want to make this bag! Thank you.
Susan Volkland The bag handle is shown at the top at 23 seconds (cut 2 pieces at 110cm long by 1.8cm wide, sew the two pieces together (38secs) make two holes on each end of the strip, and do the same on the bag but on opposite sides of the seam. I'll try draw a line drawing this weekend to explain better.
Hi Gretel, Sorry I only just saw this message! It's quite complicated to explain so I feel your pain and I'm going to try to explain better... Basically the bag is a cube, you sew the two sides of the bag first, you got that bit I guess. The bottom of the bag is doesn't need to be stitched on two sides (the long part edges) left over is the bottom corners (the shorter edges) to attach to the sides that were previously sewn together. This is done by turning the work out and sewing the two edges together to close off the cube. I hope that makes sense! Elle
Argh, Sorry Jamilia if it's a little complicated, once you get going it makes a lot more sense! It's basically stitching the edges and the bottom and then making holes at the top after. If you do have any questions don't hesitate! Elle
your videos are instructional but edited so cleverly thats its relaxing. You have earned a new subie 👌
i like the way you combine simplicity and beauty!

+Elle Frost What's the best thickness of the leather to sew this bag?
