The thing I always say is in this game you die 9 out of 10 times because you were not prepared. The last one is just the game deciding that you were having too much fun, but it's part of the experience.. :D If you know exactly what you are going to do if the ghost starts hunting the next second, you will rarely be caught off guard. This includes things like: - knowing where you can hide or run away to, where the ghost can be including if it's roaming and might be in your way when you're trying to get away, enterable hiding spots are the best, then you have big furniture you can crouch behind and walk around like the kitchen isle on Tanglewood, open spots are good too, but there's always a chance of the ghost just randomly walking to you. Check if they are blocked when you're playing higher difficulties as fast as you can! - keeping in mind if the ghost is possibly fast, can hunt early, or has some tricks - stuff like how the Wraith can teleport to you at any time anywhere at random so you can get cornered by it anywhere just like how the Banshee can roam to your location and do almost the same - how to avoid getting cornered in general if you haven't ruled Deogen or Mimic out, speaking of Mimic.. there are ghosts that I rarely mess around with and those are Mimic, Demon, a young Thaye, and a low sanity Moroi, but Revenant in open areas or Raiju in small areas with equipment around are also dangerous - making the decision to control your sanity, because lower sanity gives you more activity but also increases the chance of the ghost changing its favorite room - being extra careful if the ghost has a feminine name, because 2 out of the 4 female ghost models can crawl on the ground, with the child being small all the time, which literally makes them more dangerous just by being less visible These are all things you can keep in mind all the time in order to prevent being jumped. Also if you're new to the game, just experience it for the horror effect because once that is gone the game will forever be different.
one thing that helped me a great deal was playing the same map (tanglewood) until you know every plate/fork/cup. Familarity is great for relaxing you.. play it until its boring, then you'll find yourself able to think more clearly and notice more.. once you do that you start to feel where the ghost is, and then you are safe, because safety in this game is all about sanity management, and knowing where the ghost is
I feel that starting to know your ghost types helps a LOT. I've been playing this since it came out. And only since maybe September have I been courageous enough to up the ante and start playing on Nightmare and insane mode (and currently working on my apocalypse gold trophy). Ghost interactions and special abilities can help you eliminate ghosts type (such as airball ghost event can't be an Oni, Jinn can't turn off the breaker, Mare can't turn on a light, Wraiths won't walk through salt, Goryo never changes room and you will never see the dots with your eyes etc etc etc) has helped me know that if I have both the phantom, the wraith and the banshee crossed off, then I don'T have to worry about a teleporting ghost... But great video!
I think that being scared and playing is the most fun part of the game. The thrill of being terrified at 3am looking for a ghost out to kill you and those unexpected jump scares are so fun. While being scared and looking for the ghost as the ghost detective are what I enjoy most about the game
That's amazing! And trust me bro I still get scared; but one of the reasons I made this video was because I really wanted to dive deeper into the game, but fear was holding me back. I just couldn't stop jumping outta my skin even at an airball ghost event. The game becomes more fun than it already is once you start going down the rabbit holes of ghost behaviors, etc. But I agree with your point!
@ yeah I can see what you’re saying, I think it’s a great point that the game has so many layers to it, and it just adds so much complexity and fun to it. I’m still super scared to play by myself which I think is a great feeling lmao, there’s nothing like being alone in the ghost house trying to figure out what’s after you
I am a new player but I have been watching creators play Phasmo for a year, still didn't help once I got into actually playing, but at least I knew how the game functioned. What veteran players may forget is when you start playing for the first time, you don't know everything, there are lots of unknowns and we don't have the safety of incense and crucifixes for about 15 levels. That was what terrified me was being unsure and unable to do anything but hide and pray it didn't see me. What I have done to begin my quest of being braver is -First; learn how to play the fundamentals of the game. Silly answer, but it's true. I played with a friendly ghost for a while and learned how to investigate, how to use items, how to manipulate doors and objects since you need to drag things instead of just click them. Also got used to how Ghost Events felt. Second: Played with friends that had fun antagonizing and messing with the ghost and making not dying the challenge. While this is somewhat special, playing with more confident people rubbed off on me. Now once I know the ghost, I want to get it to hunt or use cursed possessions to force one. That's the "you are in control" aspect and "knowledge is power". Third: As I said above, having the safety items help, especially as you get to higher tiers and you feel like a God. Fourth: I have a tab open of the list of ghost behaviors so I know what to expect from whatever I am dealing with. The more I play, the more these become working knowledge and my intuition generally leads me in the right direction before I have all three evidences. I am going to start streaming this game for the month of October and I am sure having the chatterbox habit will make it easier too. :)
@@miriviola316 It's the unofficial cheat sheet. Can Google it. It's pretty neat and shows area of effects like Raiju speed, hantu speed and other cool things.
Totally relatable, as you become more seasoned, you understand the fundamentals of the game and start to prepare yourself better, it’s still always nice to be caught off guard by a random event or ghost hunt. I’m still relatively new to the game and still getting to understand all the different behaviors of the different ghosts, so I feel like I’m having a lot of fun and that fun will only increase as I continue to play. Also there’s maps that I’m way too scared to play on like point hope, but that’s what I love about the game, playing the maps I haven’t played as often always give me that energy of horror and it’s a renewed sense of playing the game for the first time😊
I think the best way to get over fear of the game is to play challenge mode, because for me, half of the fear is losing my equipment after dying, and challenge mode gives equipment. Challenge mode also helps you to learn the hiding spots and learn how to pick up on the small details of ghosts. All this being said, I think the fear is half the fun of the game.
I would love a guide on what to do when you have no smudge sticks or crucifix to prevent it from hunting. How do you keep a level head when you're literally defenseless, especially when you're a lower level and newer to the game?
Fair! Knowledge is also fun too! Whatever way people play Phasmo should be how they play. There’s just not a ton of info/guides on how to get past the “horror” aspect of this game. Phas does a great job of offering both a ton of spooks, while also doing a great job of having a TON of depth for people that want to tap into that as well. That’s why I made this guide
Hey I’m not sure if you still check the comments on this video but after watching this video I went from 5-29 and I can play solo sometimes but I can only play tanglewood what would be your next tips from there
Hey! Thanks for your comment! I think the easiest tip would be to branch out and try and branch out and maybe go to a different map solo! Try that out first and just focus on finding the ghost room and evidence!
ive been playing phas a lot with my friends whos like a pro i swear. we recently played 0 sanity and no pills and it was actually fun figuring out the ghost and having to hide a lot
I feel that bro. I’m sorry it’s gotten to that point for you. Maybe taking a hiatus will help? I never wanna discourage someone from playing the game but if the adrenaline rush from the games spookiness is what you’re after that might be the ticket. Either that or maybe try upping your difficulty?
My teenage son and I have played long enough we both run professional mode and find it fits our play style best. We were arguing a few night ago about whether the ghost was a Mimic or not and I was confident it wasn't. I said "If this is the Mimic I will do the High School while you sit in truck and watch on my headset". Sooo.. after doing the highschool and not finding ghost room for 30 minutes I told him.. my real life sanity is down to 25%, I am going to bed. It's not "scary" anymore but it's still hauntingly disturbing.
I played the game when it first came out for like a month then came back during the holiday event 2023. During that 3 year span there was a massive update that changed the leveling system all the people were given prestige 1 as a reward. So when I came back I was prestige 1 level 1 already lol
When you're with the boys playing phasmo and fooling around, it's always fun. The moment they all go out to grab something, and you're left alone in the ghost room, it gets so scary so quickly, it's insane
It's literally scarier than Alien Isolation. That game keeps my adrenaline pumping. It's good but this game solo is something else. Same feeling as Welcome to the game II whenever the power goes out. Nope. Phasmophobia is scarier cause the power goes out AND you can hear footsteps, hear giggling. but can't see the ghost. And despite the simplicity the atmosphere is just unnerving. It's like Nuke top 5 or CHILLS made a horror game about accurate ghost sightings

Basically, it's a psychological issue that induces fear within someone when getting scared. The only way to overcome fear is to face the fear itself.
