Oh yeah this one is great, I had it for many years now, even changing the rest of my kit except for this one. I tought nobody would still talk about it, but is really good value. Just one warning: be relatively gentle with it lol
I think that would depend on your camera and the size of the dance floor. If you had a Sony A7s3 you might be able to pull that off, but it would be a stretch for most other cameras. On a dance floor I would think of setting these up as kickers to backlight the dancers and letting the ambient dance lights act as the fill. If you want to overpower the dance lights, then you may need a more powerful light. Thanks for the comment and have a great day!
Would these work for wedding receptions? If you buy like 2-3 of them? I like how they are not so big so people feel weird about them and how I could easily more them.
Yeah that’s what they’re meant for. These aren’t cinema lights and this guy is a poser. These are just LED versions of the dimmable incandescent video lights we used to use on top of Betacam SP shoulder cams for ENG at night.
Hi thanks for the great video, I bought this one and the yn 300 iii trying to figure out the accessories needed. I am gettin a headache lol so I need 2 different batteries for each light and the adapter for each ?? Thanks for your help
You could mount it on the camera. It would be a bit big, but I think it really comes down personal preference to whether or not you're comfortable with it on the body. Have a great day!
Good question. I actually have so many Sony L Series lying around that I have never tried that. The Sony's on this light will last for a very good amount of time
I don't know any key lights that I have personally used that would come in that cheap, but you might want to consider the researching the Amaran line. They are an affordable version of Aputure lights and they are pretty cheap, and good quality. bhpho.to/3gAIW1X
Many thanks, Bryan! I'm excited to learn about that light. I've been waiting for Aputure's LS 60 because I need a new accent and hair light. I've been using a couple of their LS 20s. They have barn doors and several powering options, but the light is extremely wimpy and can barely light the wall behind an interview. At that price I definitely plan to buy one and then maybe at at least a second. Maybe I can find a use for all of my old GoPro attachments that have sat untouched for years. How is the battery life, from your experience? Thanks again!
Thanks, livemusic! I was actually on a shoot today where I was using an Aputure 300D as my key and the YN216 as my accent lights. They tend to have pretty good battery life, based on your output, but I can easily count on them to do a 40-60 minute interview, on one battery. I also use my AC adapter and a stinger, so if Im in a controlled environment I don't have to worry about it. Your best option might be to buy 1 and see if it fits your needs, before you kit out. Thanks for the comment and have a great day!
@@DeafDirector I appreciate the input! I am mostly in a controlled environment with the ability to us AC, but for time reasons I usually throw my two LS20s up with a 'Sony' battery on one and a Gold Mount for the one pushing at 100 percent. Good to know you can count on at least 40 minutes, which is perfect for the majority of my regular interview shoots. I'll definitely take your advice and start with one to "see if it fits [my] needs" first. I have a couple of 300Xs and look forward to having a better accent light that I can afford after the many recent upgrades I've made to my gear closet. Have a great one! Looking forward to learning more and more from you. Thanks!
So, sad and so true. I still use super clamps with the lights, that work perfectly, but I wish those bases were a little tougher. Thanks so much for the comment!
Great product review video, clear, concise, easy to follow, helped me decide that I will buy this light, thanks Deaf Director, you rock!
"That doesn't just vomit light everywhere" . Man, that's a new phrase for my "Special Phrases" book! And 3 powering options = Awesome.
Ha, ha! Thanks, Moni. My poor gaffer has heard that phrase many, many times!
This was a great presentation of this light. Ordering 4 now.
Very well done video! Found it very informative and there delivery was excellent! 😉👍

@@DeafDirector Thank you very much Sir.

Can this be used inside an Octabox? with a bowen mount?

I need assistance please : For the AC Power Adapter, on is 12V 2A and the other is 12V 5A...does it matter? I know nothing...
I found the barn doors were most useful for attaching rosco color gels and diffusion.
I love having the versatility that the barn doors add to this little light. Thanks for the comment, and have a great day!

Nice video! Can i use it directly mounted to the camera? or is it too big and impractical? thanks :)
You could mount it on the camera. It would be a bit big, but I think it really comes down personal preference to whether or not you're comfortable with it on the body. Have a great day!
Can you use double AA batteries 🔋 in unison with the Sony L-Series battery for power?
Good question. I actually have so many Sony L Series lying around that I have never tried that. The Sony's on this light will last for a very good amount of time
@@DeafDirector What is a good amount of time?
@@brandonewoldt Depends on your power output, but I can easily get over an hour or time usually on mine.
Is there a light you'd consider a good keylight, in a similar price range of this one or at least close to 100 dollars?

Can I use it with a powerbank?
Can i put a softbox on the light? If yes, what kind of softbox?
You probably can, but I use this as an accent light or a kicker, so I have not used any softboxes on it. Have a great day!
I love that light, but yes...the base broke.
