    Could anyone confirm if this set will rattle when using it? Or are the weight plates tightly together in all weight increments?

  • @Kref3
    @Kref3 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    One reason why the setting indicator might be good instead of just printing the weight increments: Many adjustable dumbbells are labeled in pounds. I think in kg. and I really do not like to do the maths during workout.
    On the other hand I have Ironmasters and I actually have put the dumbbells on a scale in every combination from handle without screws over handle with screws to all symetrical plate combinations to full load and now have a list hanging over the stand. So there are always workarounds.
    I would prefer a system which allows me to see the correct weight in kg though. European Nüobells btw. come with a kg scale instead of pounds. Very nice!

      Also nuobell and the adjustable hexbell I believe are from the same manf. I did not go with them after seeing how cheaply made the adjuster was. Also in work out videos the weights seemed to move more than I would want.

      Yeah, I have the Select Techs and not only is it awkward to do something like crush press, but their size and shape makes certain things like the tate press almost impossible. Looking to upgrade but so far it seems like Nuobell is the way to go.

    800 pounds 🙈 if any of them were around 160 pounds I would be interested. IronMaster should just improve that screws design to be at least universal somehow to any weights or have same mechanism but go heavy as fuck.

    After having purchased and owned a pair of Powerblocks for some time.. I see no competition on the market.
    It's perfect and I don't even care for normal dumbbells anymore. Powerblock all the way! I almost purchased Ironmasters, but then I saw a video where one was doing bench presses with them and the side suddenly fell off, almost hitting him in the face/top part of the chest, which fortunately, it didn't. But ye.

      Yeah, I owned a set of classic Blocks for around 20 years. Did a lot of research before upgrading right before pandemic. I'm a Powerblock fan for life. Did a lot of searching on Craigslist and their site, finally ending up with their sport bench with pull-up and dip bars, urethane set with expansions, and straight bar.

      I owned Powerblocks in the past... they're perfect if only you enjoy the awkwardness or benching with blocks with also a plastic eurothene grip. Perfect for you, but not for everyone. I'll take my Nuobells anyday over blocks.

    Am on the fence with the MX85 but at $599 it seems better value for $ vs some of the other adjustable ones for 85 lbs and I don’t feel like these are sacrificing anything at least from durability aspect versus the similar weight adjustables at $750ish. Am curious to hear from those that have them for about a year now, how are you finding them, any frustrations? Any issues with quick weight changes for supersets or drop sets taking too long ideally less than 10 seconds? Thanks much in advance.

    Ironmaster all day every day. Good starting weight, good price considering that you get a stand, feels like a dumbbell. Will survive a cement mixer. Increasing to 165 doesn't require a mortgage. Has the option to give you an adjustable kettlebell for a low price. Not the fastest, but not absurdly slow. Knurling that feels good.

These are so cheap to make, some companies will send you a free set because they want to be an OEM for an American co. These are all generic. 80% of the cost is the from the branding.
