I’ve thought of it a few times since and I would love to watch in English to fully understand what it’s about. I used to love the song where they’re in the theatre place
i would recomend it in french with sub-tittles in english. i am a french belgian and i learned a lot of my english by watching movie in english with subtitles in french(then in english). and the french version was real good for a french movie, usualy french movie lack a bit of a spark in the play, like the actor dont beleive in theyr text but this one didnt. i just watch a couple of clip on youtube not even the whole movie xD

Okay.......that alternate storyboard you did was way too frigging adorable, I couldn't. (also, great review. I literally just found this found this channel today. Nice to see someone review this underrated movie >w
I just remembered this movie existed! I watched this movie years ago and it was pretty good! I actually am absolutely terrified of bugs so at first, I thought the flea character would creep me out. He didn’t though! Which is great! I had a thing where whenever Beetle from Kubo and the Two Strings would like..crawl I guess? I would be super creeped out. That didn’t happen with the flea character. (I mean, I don’t remember him doing anything bug-like? So I think that’s why I wasn’t as scared, and the design didn’t look that much like a bug/flea but I could still tell he was a flea so that was nice!) But ye. Thanks, Ros Mo, for reminding me of this lil gem from my childhood.
I LOVE this movie SO MUCH. It feels like a fever dream sometimes but ITS AMAZING. The og French version is beautiful hearing them talk and sing So in the French verison luciel uses la seine to refer to the river and Francoer uses la scene to refer to the stage
Thank god this movie is not like Barry and his weird love for Vanessa. It has pretty animation, catchy songs, likable characters and an entertaining villain. I like it :D Charles the monkey is a great side-kick, he's funny and Raoul too; love thoses two! Emile is brave and so adorable X3 My favorite character!
Have I seen this before? No, I have not, but right off the bat, I really like the fact that it’s not set in New York or even in the US for the bajillionth time, and the monster design looks so aesthetically pleasing, especially to someone like me who geeks out about cool designs.
This movie is so underrated. I absolutely loved it as a teen when it came out. I still have La Seine in my playlist for a good time since it just takes me back. :D It's alwas worth a watch, even after all this time. It's a true jewel in the animation scene- : )
Since you focused mainly on the English cast you probably didn't know or catch a funny hidden moment in the film. Matthieu Chedid (stage name-M-) is the French singing voice of Francœur. During the scene where Lucille gives him these wigs to wear one of them is -M-'s iconic black hair. (Just a random fun fact that made me laugh when I first saw the film)
One of my childhood classics. Watched so many time with my brothers. Finally showed my girlfriend it 2 days ago and I was so happy to see it again. It's cute, simple, and doesn't try to be something it's not. Just a fun project by fun people.
This movie was art, and one of my favorite movies! Lucille and Franceur singing was the best, his voice was just great. Everything was done right, and loved it!!! 10/10, no matter what. But it made me when a literal flea is more kind than one of the people supposed to protect Paris. Did I mention, THE SONGS ARE FIRE?!
As a French guy, I can say, you got the point of the French version of the song. Fun fact: when Francoeur says "vacille" in the French version, it even says so with a Parisian accent. How did I notice it? My music teacher made us learn and sing that song where I was 12 or 13, somewhere around these parts.
i remember watching this movie as a kid and being so in love with Francœur because of the la seine song !! i listened to it on repeat, tried to sing it too, even if i don't speak a speck of french
YES! I found another fan out in the wild and not on Reddit I love this movie I grew up with this movie I've sang "La Siene" more times than I can remember
This is one of my favourite childhood movies and I enjoy it to this day! I remember my father lovingly calling it “a hidden pearl” as not a lot of people having even heard about it :>
The memories are flooding back, I remember watching this when I was like 5, I fell in love with this movie but when my brain decided to remind me about it years later I forgot the name until now.
What I love about this movie is that I think the trailer or La Seine got many people interested. I remember watching a trailer of this and be like: “I wanna see!” And boy does it change me! Also Francœur is one of my childhood crushes heheeh
0:30 when I first watched the film, I was mesmerized by the voice. It was exactly like what I thought a flee would sounds like if they can sing and have a pretty voice 😂 Sean Lennon really is a blessing
The reason franceour has a beautiful singing voice is due to the two mixtures that got smahed together when he was mutated one of them was the mixture Charles got sprayed into his mouth for the beautiful singing voice which explains why franceour has the good singing voice and probably the knowledge of playing the guitar
It wasn't too long ago that I first heard about this movie. I was thinking if I should be watching it. And now, you made this video. I probably should watch it for real
I just bought this movie Recently mostly because My Little Sister destroyed the last copy. But when I rewatched it so many years later. I decided to search up who plays Francœur. And he is voiced by Sean Lennon. Who's Dad is John Lennon. Who was in the Beatles.
YES! Finally someone talked about this movie! Cause I was so confused how this movie was not more popular as I've genuinally enjoyed the whole pace of the movie and the characters, and romance here did not feel forced!
Ahhh!! I remember watching this SUCH a long time ago!!!! Imma go re-watch this right now! This little re-cap was really fun!! As always i really like hearing your opinion! Have good day/night 😊
I watched this movie like a billion years ago with my cousins at their house, they've moved away now and watching it again and seeing this video it was just super nostalgic-
Coming back to this video cuz Instagram is doing trend with the song La Seine and I and I'm having flashbacks to the time I had a crush on the fucking Flee Monster LMAO - Great Video btw, glad to know I'm not the only one who saw this as a kid :D
I LOVE THIS MOVIE SO MUCH!!!! I love the music, I love the story, I love the characters. I’ve been in love with it for YEARS! I still listen to the song Franceur (?) and Lucille perform together actively to this day. It’s such a gem to me and it’s a film I think about often.
I remember watching this movie when I was a kid, from a movie collection my mom got when she was in El Salvador. It is a throw back to see this movie getting the attention it needs.
You know, I think that I could say pretty clearly that I was not expecting to see a video on this masterpiece from my childhood today or even really ever. TH-cam really is a special place.
So quaint. The animation isn't at all bad, it's just simple and unassuming. I loved that the opening credits say "based on an original story". In a way it's kind of a sad commentary on how almost everything seems to be either sequels or incredibly derivative. I loved that scene between Raoul and Lucille because it felt very authentic and was a nice break from Lucille being little miss perfect. Sometimes it's those little breaks from character that are really funny, like when the stupid pirate from Pirates of the Caribbean correctly uses the word "ironic" in a sentence. It's relatively uncommon for a film to have no real "main character", but it works here.
I was in love with this movie, if I ever come to the conclusion that I'd want one of my favorite films to become a live action remake, this would be it. It's brilliant, and even in most modern cases when characters personalities are forced and one-dimensional, they're able to show the more vulnerable side of characters without taking away from their initial place in the movie. P.S. Francœur is hot-
Okay but like did anyone just stumble upon this movie and Jack and the Cuckoo Clock Heart on Netflix as a child and litterly fell in love with both movies .
Yesss I ADORED this movie when I found it years ago! The music is so beautiful and although the animation feels a bit sped up (biased, also the fact I'm American and watch the dub version so the sync may be off), it's a gorgeous movie. When I got a bit older I did more research on the movie and found Matthieu Chedid, the French singer for Francoer. Again, I don't speak French at all but his music is so beautiful that I can't help but listen to it and look up what it means to fully understand the piece. I also only recently noticed that Matthieu wears this wig or cap of sorts that looks like an M (or what I can only describe as an off-brand Batman thing of sorts). When Lucile dresses Francoer up she puts Matthieu's wig/cap thing on him and he smiles so wide. Love that adorable boi, even if I hate bugs, their relationship is top-tier (and purely platonic, no bee movie, please and thank you)
My god, the way you deconstructed and remade that scene was amazing! This movie already seems charming as hecky, but the revision you made would have been so fucking wholesome.
This is my favorite movie in existence I can watch it eight times in a row and that's putting it lightly without getting sick of it I love this movie finally someone else finally knows what it is

Hello, I was wondering, are there any other very good French movies like this? I haven't been exposed to may foreign films and I would like to learn about the culture, thank you, and have a good day! Also I think your English is very good!
So I love animations movies so it it’s my pleasure to recommend some of my favorite French films well I think I will only give like a top 3 (even if there’s some much movies that are just so good). There are a little bit different from each others I don’t think I’ll give any « résumé » because you can find it on internet but only the genre of the film (I hope I express my self clearly XD). So first movie I think of is « Mune » it’s a 3D movie with adventure and fantasy really chill yo watch. Then the second one is « Le chat du rabin » it’s a comedy really funny to watch there’s a little bit of religion (it’s in 2D). And the last one is « Persepolis » based on a true story about Islamist religion it can be dramatic but also funny (it’s in 2D but one particulier thing is it’s in black and white only). Yeah so hope it answers your question if you want more movies don’t hesitate to ask ~(-_^)~

The fact that Sean Lennon sounds just like his father 🥺 when I first heard Francoeur sing I was like “..who does he sound like..he sounds so familiar.” And when the movie finished I looked up the cast (as I always do) and I see SEAN FREAKING LENNON 😩😩 overall they just did a wonderful job on casting and the story. (I watched the English dub)
My french teacher made us watch this movie in french a couple times when we’d have chill lessons (near Christmas and the end of the year and such) but I never had much of clue what was going on lol. I’ve thought of it a few times since and I would love to watch in English to fully understand what it’s about. I used to love the song where they’re in the theatre place
Omg! Did you watch it in English yet?
You can watch the full ver on TH-cam and it’s in English :D
i would recomend it in french with sub-tittles in english. i am a french belgian and i learned a lot of my english by watching movie in english with subtitles in french(then in english). and the french version was real good for a french movie, usualy french movie lack a bit of a spark in the play, like the actor dont beleive in theyr text but this one didnt. i just watch a couple of clip on youtube not even the whole movie xD
My French teacher showed us this movie when we were in 3rd grade and I was sat next to my best friend and we kept laughing at funny parts and it was the best French lesson
Okay.......that alternate storyboard you did was way too frigging adorable, I couldn't.
(also, great review. I literally just found this found this channel today. Nice to see someone review this underrated movie >w
Glad you liked it! And yeah I'm happy to review it, I loved the movie and I can't believe it's underrated honestly!
The og French version is beautiful hearing them talk and sing
So in the French verison luciel uses la seine to refer to the river and Francoer uses la scene to refer to the stage
Honestly surprised at the recent comments about people wanting the two to be together, also kinda scared. 😰
This movie feels like when I was 11 and I spend hours watching indie animated short films, loving every second of it.
I REMEMBER THIS MOVIE. I love how you cover all the underrated movies c:
There's so many gems that are left under the dirt! I love finding them all! 😍
This is still one of my absolute favorite movies!! It’s just ugh...so good
Since you focused mainly on the English cast you probably didn't know or catch a funny hidden moment in the film.
Matthieu Chedid (stage name-M-) is the French singing voice of Francœur. During the scene where Lucille gives him these wigs to wear one of them is -M-'s iconic black hair. (Just a random fun fact that made me laugh when I first saw the film)
THANK YOU for talking about this BEAUTIFUL movie. LOVE IT
"Ever HEARD of Monster in Paris?"
YESYEYSYEYSYYEYSYYESYYYESY inhale YESSS god i fuckin love this film
One of my childhood classics. Watched so many time with my brothers. Finally showed my girlfriend it 2 days ago and I was so happy to see it again. It's cute, simple, and doesn't try to be something it's not. Just a fun project by fun people.
This movie was art, and one of my favorite movies! Lucille and Franceur singing was the best, his voice was just great. Everything was done right, and loved it!!! 10/10, no matter what. But it made me when a literal flea is more kind than one of the people supposed to protect Paris. Did I mention, THE SONGS ARE FIRE?!
acab
YES
Especially La Seine
As a French guy, I can say, you got the point of the French version of the song.
Fun fact: when Francoeur says "vacille" in the French version, it even says so with a Parisian accent.
How did I notice it? My music teacher made us learn and sing that song where I was 12 or 13, somewhere around these parts.
i remember watching this movie as a kid and being so in love with Francœur because of the la seine song !! i listened to it on repeat, tried to sing it too, even if i don't speak a speck of french
YES!
I found another fan out in the wild and not on Reddit
I love this movie
I grew up with this movie
I've sang "La Siene" more times than I can remember
It’s a timeless classic tbh.
This is one of my favourite childhood movies and I enjoy it to this day!
I remember my father lovingly calling it “a hidden pearl” as not a lot of people having even heard about it :>
This video just brought back so many memories of renting this DVD from the library and re watching it to the max.
The memories are flooding back, I remember watching this when I was like 5, I fell in love with this movie but when my brain decided to remind me about it years later I forgot the name until now.
I LOVED this movie when I was younger. I’d replay it all the time and dance and sing to the songs. I'm happy that it's getting more attention!
Omg this movie will always feel so special I love it SO MUCH
What I love about this movie is that I think the trailer or La Seine got many people interested. I remember watching a trailer of this and be like: “I wanna see!” And boy does it change me!
Also Francœur is one of my childhood crushes heheeh
OMG I LOVE UR IDEA ABOUT THE IN LOVE W LUCILE SCENE AND THE BUDDING FRIENDSHIPPPP
I grew up with this movie and I love that it’s getting more recognition! Keep up the good work!
dude... i remember watching this like YEARS ago... the nostalgia is flooding back into my mind gruuuuhhhh
YES, watch it! Its awesome!
BRO, EXACTLY THIS HAPPENED TO ME
@@sfigueroa7172 LMAO
I just bought this movie Recently mostly because My Little Sister destroyed the last copy. But when I rewatched it so many years later.
I decided to search up who plays Francœur. And he is voiced by Sean Lennon. Who's Dad is John Lennon. Who was in the Beatles.
The ammount of childhood memories that just hit me at once is insane. I LOVED this movie as a kid.
This youtuber covers literally every movie of my childhood
Monster in paris
Jack and the cookoo clock heart
Song of the sea
YES! Finally someone talked about this movie! Cause I was so confused how this movie was not more popular as I've genuinally enjoyed the whole pace of the movie and the characters, and romance here did not feel forced!
words cant even express how much i loved this movie as a kid La Seine was my jam growing up and i would play it all the time
Ahhh!! I remember watching this SUCH a long time ago!!!! Imma go re-watch this right now!
This little re-cap was really fun!! As always i really like hearing your opinion! Have good day/night 😊
I AM A SIMP FOR THE FLEA AND I AM FINE WITH IT
That revision was so spot on & greatly drawn Ros Mo.
I watched this movie like a billion years ago with my cousins at their house, they've moved away now and watching it again and seeing this video it was just super nostalgic-
Your drawings of the characters are so adorable!! I love them!!
Thank you!! 😍😍
@@RosMo4 Of course!
Coming back to this video cuz Instagram is doing trend with the song La Seine and I
and I'm having flashbacks to the time I had a crush on the fucking Flee Monster LMAO
-
Great Video btw, glad to know I'm not the only one who saw this as a kid :D
I LOVE THIS MOVIE SO MUCH!!!! I love the music, I love the story, I love the characters. I’ve been in love with it for YEARS! I still listen to the song Franceur (?) and Lucille perform together actively to this day. It’s such a gem to me and it’s a film I think about often.
I was like: KNOW IT ? KNOW IT ?!
BOI I LOVED "SEINE AND I"
IT'S STILL GOOD
i love this movie. none never hear of this movie and im gland that you bring this movie up. thx
I’m so glad people are talking about this film more :)
I remember seeing this movie when I was a kid it was pretty cool im suprised that there are those who still know of it
Oh no I’m so torn I don’t want spoilers but I also really want to hear a wonderful Ros Mo perspective!
I had to watch this movie at my middle school for a culture engagement class. I fell IN. LOVE.
Finally, this movie is getting the attention it deserves :D
When I tell you this movie LITERALLY GAVE ME A PROBLEM WITH GETTING CRUSHES ON MONSTERS BIGGER THEN ME😭😭😭😭
I remember watching this movie when I was a kid, from a movie collection my mom got when she was in El Salvador. It is a throw back to see this movie getting the attention it needs.
That revision scene is so cheesy but so good, absolutely what I would have wanted.
In the end, the best part of the movie was the relationships.
Love that adorable boi, even if I hate bugs, their relationship is top-tier (and purely platonic, no bee movie, please and thank you)
FINALLY MONSTER IN PARIS GETS THE ATTENTION IT DESERVES
My god, the way you deconstructed and remade that scene was amazing! This movie already seems charming as hecky, but the revision you made would have been so fucking wholesome.
This is my favorite movie in existence I can watch it eight times in a row and that's putting it lightly without getting sick of it I love this movie finally someone else finally knows what it is
I USED TO LOVE THIS MOVIE!! I have been looking for this move for years and I am SO happy I found this video because it allowed me to find and watch it again!! Thank you so, so much for covering this movie!!
Ikr
I am so, SO glad someone made a video on this movie. It was my childhood and I adore it, it’s so extremely underrated and it warms my heart that it’s getting the attention it deserves
So hey I'm French (sorry for my bad english) I really like your video on Un monstre à Paris I remember watching it when i was a kid in a movie theater and also buying the DVD because I liked it so much
I don't know about the English "songs" but in French they are just soooooo incredible Vanessa Paradis and M (Matthieu Chedid) were just a perfect match (yes I'm still a litle bit obsessed withit)
So thank you for talking about this movie (and yes la seine is the "river" that crosses Paris it's like an emblem)
Des bisous trop fière que se soit un film français (on est là représente XD)
La france est là !
I was just sitting and then this movie just out of no where this movie poped into my head
I loved this movie sooo much I am sooo glad you got to see it ☺️☺️ I am so glad you enjoyed it as well 😊
Both versions areee MARVELOUS
A very treasure to our childhood
OH MY GOD I haven't watched this movie since I was in kindergarten, the nostalgia hits me hard 😭 I have so little memory of the plot but I still remember sitting on my grandma's bed in front of one of those old TVs that you could feel the parasites from just having your hand close to the screen and even dancing at the end song with the characters.. Thank you so much for talking about this movie as well! ❤️
I remember having a DVD of this film. Lucille's chemistry with Franqueur is super cute
I would love it if you talked about Cats Don’t Dance one day. That movie deserves more love
I only knew about this movie because I was listening to La Seine around early 2016 and my friend herd me singing along with it and she goes. "WAIT, YOU'VE WATCHED THE MONSTER IN FRANCE!?" I answered no and she invited me to her house to watch it and I don't regret it at all.
THIS IS ONE MY FAVORITE MOVIES LIKE EVER THANK YOU FOR TALKING ABOUT IT
This was one of my favourite movies growing up, I’m so happy I found this video☺️
This was my childhood movie- I loved it so much!
