AMC 401 Crankshaft Oil Scraper and Oil Pan Work

- A look at a crankshaft oil scraper and a oil pan worked over on the cheap. The bottom of the pan may be welded in the inside instead of the outside to tighten up the pick-up to bottom of pan clearance some. In hind sight I would not have flipped the oil pump pick up as I believe it cause a dipstick interference problem.
A vacuum system works well on these motors.No 4 bolt caps ?what kind of power is he looking to put out.A nice pan with kickout s both sides,works well too,but you needs doors.a little tricky to fab.Thanks for all the tips
I enjoy all your amc vids . but why did you go with a solid roller for the street instead of a hydraulic roller given the rpm range of the intake . also what are the specs on that cam . good job and explanation on the oil pan mods .
how was the pickup tube lenghtened? Got a longer tube then bent and threaded it?
Who offers the windage tray kit? Read online that some modify the Dodge 340 tray to fit the 401.
After reading Travatos book on how to build performance Oldsmobiles I'd think twice about putting a windage tray on it. We are probably going to remove this scraper next time the oil pan is off.

Why don't more drag racers use oil pans with kick outs ?,seems like a low hanging pan is a accident waiting to happen
