If I may ask: When I was in night school (1970's) the symbol for multiplication was x . The symbols for cubed or squared was, respectively, 3 or 2 at upper right of digit. At aprox. 1:55 you show a circumflex( ^ ) the entire display is[ " ^ 2" means squared] if the digit (2) means squared, why is the hat or circumflex(^) placed before the numeral (2)? Is this to avoid any ambiguity as to the mathematical operation? No criticism intended but curious. My study of electrical theory and some physics using the British Imperial system before the invasion of metrics did not include the symbol(^) used here.

+Flickchaser I don't know of any way to make a small two at the upper right of a number with this keyboard. On my calculator the ^ symbol is used for exponentials so I thought it fitting.

+Oldsmob455 Thank you sir for the timely response, and neither can I, as yet, use miniature numerals for squaring. This is a interesting video. Years ago I worked where engines were rebuilt, small to large, gas or diesel at a major trucking co. I was always curious as to the math behind the specs. Most of the seasoned mechanics were VERY professional at their job but had limited exposure as to how the mysterious engineering data was derived. One of my jobs- take a semi-trailer tractor after the diesel (Cummins) had been rebuilt, pull into the Dyno shed, until rear wheels were on large steel rollers, shut down engine, chock front wheels, chain truck frame down tight to eyes in concrete deck, thread manual oil pressure gauge w/aprox 3Ft hose into the oil galley, crank her, ck. oil press at manual gauge,if good press,go through all gears(manual) until 10th or 13th, RPM's are bumping governor, were up to 70mph and sitting still, pull out throttle, get out of tractor, rear tires and engine screaming, ck. O.P. at gauge laying on front tire, if good, open water valves to fill tank under floor(truck wheels drive rollers coupled to blades in water tank to load engine) load it down checking all gauges keeping RPM high to not "Lug"engine and watch that jewel hammer!! That's when my interest in engine design really started, after seeing the torture they endure, hammering up mountains into thin air, bucking arctic winds, in summers blistering heat. Proof indeed that the engineers engine equations and math are tried and true.
