Dave was pretty cool too - dont recall him on the this game though and God only knows how Flanagan got his name on it. Still a good shooter in its time and the music was pretty awesome back then too.
It's cool that there are a few games like this on the PS1 developed by people that used to make games on the Amiga. You can see this not only in the design of the game and the music but particularly the end credit text which feels like the sort of laid back chat you'd get in Amiga demo scene productions. Not sure any other PS1 games talk about the coding methods in the end credits! Not the best shoot 'em up but nostalgic for those that grew up with computer games in Europe.
Thanks for leaving the intros and "cutscenes" in! Makes me really nostalgic. I always thought it so weird to look at that badly rendered CGI man together with a real woman. Lol.
oh now THIS is a game that was buried in my memory. finished watching a big ol' "all PS1 games" video, and right at the very end was this shooter that I remembered playing... but the only crystal-clear detail I remembered was the back of the box bragging about its 32k+ colours. I should probably pick it up again at some point, though this Longplay will suffice for now!
This game looks amazing! the art design is fantastic, plus it offers passwords, health bar and some useful weapons. The bad thing is it's unfair difficulty

Crimson Dusk had the best music! You know you can change the small spheres' direction? Don't remember the button, but it was Triangle or something. And with the R/L buttons you could alter the pink lasers. Which I btw hate, glad I was not the only one to use Blue even after you got "better" weapons! :D
Ooh, the last boss (not the very last one), we used to call it "beer cork", is different from when I played it, here it shoots green rockets, whereas in my PS version it shot blue projectiles. Like the red ones it fires here, only blue. Love how you literally bugged the last boss!
I still have this :) but my copy is weird! Half the txt is missing or randomized everything in the menu screens! Comes out all symbols and backwards and missing letters! Really odd though, the word "EXIT" Seems to mess up the most and everytime you go in and out of the menu it changes! I thought they were all broken! Nope, just mine! 😂😢
I could never get past stage 2 on this. My disc has started corrupting now, some of the menu shows gibberish instead of what it's actually trying to say
@CorteX11PL it's called savestates (tooled-up) and it's an emulator, not the real playstation hardware. I've uploaded the full english version in 2-player mode being played on the real playstation,...check it out :-)
Holy crap, this game looks awesome. The pre-rendered-style sprites rival the best stuff on Neo Geo, and there's a Raiden-style toothpaste laser? O_O Was this ever released in the US?
It also seems you missed out on one or two "side-rockets" in Subterranian, when you go upwards... or can that plane only take one siderocket? In any case, what is the difference between the planes/jets?
Capcom were the distributors in Japan, Ocean UK. Team 17 the programmers, pretty much a sequel to Project -x. And you can see where Einhander got all its stuff from.. Sorry late to the party.

Great looking game, but whoever play tested this game needed to play 16bit shooters to understand balance. This title is unfairly difficult, unfortunately feels like an Amiga game with its game design. Not a slick Japanese shmup.
The person who play-tested this game is top comment on this video. 😉 I agree though, I used to love the Amiga but Project X and this are typical Euro-shmups.

The look of the ship reminds me alot of the old Sega Megadrive's Hell Fire!!! Nice music too!!

Hold on it's the NTSC-J, but it's in english.
New genre invented here. Worlds first 'avoid 'em up' . Weapons too under powered. A shame because the rest of the game is great quality.

Everybody who gets a disc of this game, the disc eventually gets corrupted. Why is that?🤔

Literally one of my first PS1 games, twas hard as nails! But the music was epic. To this day I cannot complete it without cheats though ^^;
