Khobayi is one of the most popular rhythms in the Arabian Peninsula and it comes from the Hijaz area of Saudi Arabia.
Khobayti music was originally used for zar spirit rituals where attendees would experience "istinzal" (spirit possession).
The common percussion section of the khobayti consists up to 4 frame drums of different sizes, a zir and a derbuka.

It is indeed interesting how ethnic forms of expressive arts always emerge as a part of a progressive ritual. the rhythmic structure is always sophisticated from a mathematical perspective where it confirms that the "ritual" is conducted by a precise sequence of specific sound inducing (summoning) actions. the dead animal skin has characteristics which are impossible to duplicate by artificial synthesis, both sonic (the sound it produces) and cognitively spiritual (the act of slaughtering the goat as a sacrifice before the use of its skin to make these instruments). it's not music.. its an ethnic performance where man found a "safe haven" for curiosity (the same curiosity that evicted Adam from heaven) and initiated the forbidden quest of "sensually fulfilling" communication between man (the creature of mud and clay) and the outcast spirit (the creature of fire and flame). the science behind this is researched and delegated to the max (physics and its energy dynamics), yet, its never made available to the public.

اخواني الكرام .. يجب أن يكون التسجيل أكثر احترافيه .. بوضع مايكات خاصة للايقاعات تمر عبر المكسر الى الكاميرا بشكل موزون حتى لا تفقد الجمالية في التربل والباس
مايحتاج مايك دام مسوين كاتم للصوت بالغرفه ولا في صدى.. صراحه شغل مرتب❤️

يجب أن تتخذ مسافة بين كل إيقاع واثق ان حسب النوع وقوته كما يجب أن يوضع مايك خاص للايقاع
حتى يأخذ الخامة الطبيعية للايقاع
طبعا في مكان جدرانه معزول ه بشكل ممتاز عالاقل عزل 5 بوصة مع ترك فراغ لوضعية الارتداد الصوتي
وكل هذا يكون من خلال الخلاط واحلى مكس
والشباب للأمانه ممتازين لكن ضايع جهدهم بالمكس

would be more than happy to help out and map the whole thing for you. you don't need someone to count it for you. your ears will adapt immediately to the bars once I explain the structure for u. I don't mind the effort at all assuming that you might be creating some kind of a magical fusion (i assume you produce music). with the rich ethnic arts of this part of the world, you'll be experimenting with an unseen before sub-genre. I'm already excited! let's schedule a google hangout! DM me
Maybe a 12\8 would help. It is I think polyrhythmic. According to the book the main rhythm is a dragging ti ti ta ta kind of rhythm. Under that you have the 4/4. Probably also dragging a bit.
I made an effort in transcribing it to drums and jammed over it.
I wish I had a buddy to work out the micro shuffles, the drag of it.
