Saudi Folklore - Rayeh

The Arabian peninsula‘s culture and history are incredibly rich! here we come with a new folk music and dance from Saudi Arabia🕺🏽
This time with "Rayeh“, one of the popular folklores in the kingdom 🇸🇦
"Rayeh" is believed to be the music and dancing of farmers after a long tiring day of work in farm fields. As they stand shoulder to shoulder, hold their sticks in their hands and sway their bodies and sticks to the rhythm of drums, they forget their worries, enjoy the rest of their day 👨‍🌾
This type of folklore is originally known to be originally from the fertile lands of "Bisha", a city that is located on the "Wadi Bisha“ valley between the region of Najd and the mountains of Hijaz.
Nowadays, Rayeh became a celebration performance art and it‘s being performed all accross the kingdom and not just in Bisha.

Folk music and folk-dancing alongside other folk heritage are a living piece of our history. Our duty as the generations of today is to support it and preserve it for future generations 🙏🇸🇦
