  • I recently purchased the Casio MDV-10D-1A2V aka the Mini Duro. But does it live up to affordable icon moniker or is it a damp squib?

38-40mm would be the sweet spot most were looking for. 18-20mm lug width with the original 200m water resistance. I think most of us would happily pay $79-$89 for that.

I agree with your verdict, it really is on the small side. I'm glad you reviewed it, as I have been pondering getting one. The all-black version does look the most versatile of the bunch. I'm glad they opted to skip the marlin on the dial on this one. Looks cleaner without it.
I wonder what it is about Casio's designs that makes them look so cheap overall? I mean, to varying degrees they all are, but I'm not sure WHY they look so cheap even in official renders...

I guess Casio just doesn’t spend a lot of money on promotional images etc. which is why the watches nearly always look better in person than on the website.

Great review! 16mm lugs are terrible for aftermarket strap alternatives but it’s probably an ok watch otherwise.

Thanks! Yeah 16mm options are very limited :/

@@thewholecut seems daft because I know g shocks are often 16mm (but have hidden lugs) f91w, ae1200 etc all 18mm.

Not only that, but 16mm to a 39mm case is completely out of proportion.

As far as style, it's worth every penny and a few.

I saw this watch personally in a mall. Really small. Would be a great gift watch for a woman. But seriously the water resistance should be 200m for this.

50M WR....lol😅 all they had to do was make this 200 M water resistant and have it come with a 20mm strap...

    Garbage.
Perfect example of "how to ruin one of your best sub-brands in 1 easy step".
What I find to be mindboggling is that the MDV-10 and the MDV-107 on metal bracelets have the same price: 100 EUR in Europe and the ADs, no sale.
Even more amazing is that the MDV-107 on a rubber strap is cheaper than any MDV-10 (80EUR).
Why would anyone buy the MDV-10? Why does it exist? There are Casio Edifice models which cost less and have much better specs.
Even for people with small wrists there are cheaper alternatives with 200m WR and even with good automatic movements (Invicta Pro Diver 36mm with NH35A).

In fairness I think it was designed for the Asian market only wear wrist sizes tend to be a bit smaller but you're not wrong it pales in comparison to the MDV-107.
