As far as I know, this model sold in some regions only, for some reason. On the other hand I'm pretty sure duro newer sold in my country officially, I only saw it thanks to TH-cam
Happy this watch finally gets the coverage it deserves. I have it for 3 years now, always on a nato. I use it as my sea watch, in fact it's the only watch from my collection that tests it's wr rating. As expected by casio it is bulletproof. I also like it more than the duro for it's size and for the design. Fun fact : back in the day this model was out as the casio mdv - 101. It had the marlin as the duro, so basically we see the brother of the known marlin duro here. Casio stoped using the marlin logo first with this watch and renamed it as mtd 1053d. The new generation of the duro also comes without the marlin.
Thanks for sharing such great knowledge with us my friend. it's cool to know where this model is positioned and it's origins. The Marlin's brother... Cool! Appreciate the viewership, stay well 🙏
Yep, I definitely see some Orient influence. Is the Duro a design icon or is the submariner styling the iconic element? I think it could be argued both ways
Thank you for bringing attention to the 1053. This may be what I was looking for, although I don't like the bracelet either. It actually looks better than the Duro, which has too much open space on the dial.
Wat ever you say watch is just device showing time. It should be compact tidy trendy. Also with economical price affordable by middle class people. Not just high end. Behind me there are hundreds of people purchasing watch I am talking about. That would be the care taken by such high tech companies at this moment of time. Thank you for demo.
The Duro is definitely a nicer watch and comes in more color options, as well as being cheaper. This Duro look-a-like is one of those watches where you think you'll like it because it has better sizing but in the end you regret making the purchase anyways. The Duro is great because it looks nice, has good WR, and is cheap. This watch, while still being cheap, is 3x the price (at least in my country) and looks cheaper than the Duro somehow.
I'm sure we can let you off that 1mm Kieron, but only because it's you mate! I like this watch, it's definitely got better dimensions and the dial is much more interesting than the Duro in my opinion. I've got a Duro and I like it but if I'd seen the 1053 first I may well have got that instead. I might just get it anyway!! Cheers Kieron, great review as always 👍
Including the crown guards is boring anyway 😂 why did they have to make them so bloody long, the losers. I still think a proper 40mm Duro is needed, but this does the job in the meantime for the smaller wrists like mine 👌 Thanks Rik, hope all is well mate 🙏
Well spotted and cool review. Not a divers watch but check out the Certina DS Podium Chronometer, a quartz movement accurate to +/- 10 secs a year and waterproof down to 100m for about less than 500 notes.
I enjoyed that, super informative. Good video. But not a watch for me 😉 I think I’m getting the Casio MRW 200h and mod the hell out of it: add a lume pip, enhance the lume on the hands and numerals and hydro fill it. Seems like a fun project.
I'll be reviewing that at some point soon 👌 it's a watch that I've had my eye on trying for ages! Best of luck with your mod project. Sounds super cool
Duro is my choice between the two.. Somehow I’m not uncomfortable in wearing it on my 6” wrist.. Leave Duro, I even like the biggest Casio in my collection- AE-3000 with its 57mm dial !!
If they do it again with MTD-130D inner bezel it would closer to JLC Polaris Mariner. As it has already something of a JLC Master Compressor Navy Seals and also Blancpain Fifty Fathoms style.
Had mine for 3 years , I wear it on a NATO , thinking of getting a nice silicone strap for it , was my main holiday watch untill i got a bright yellow Casioak
The 1053 is nice but it looks too cramped, like they jammed as many number and dashes as they can in to that 40mm space. I still prefer the Casio Duro mdv-106 with the marlin.
The real Duro is simply looking better. The bezel and the hands of the Casio MTD-1053D are a no go. The bezel does not only miss the markers it is also too big and makes the dial too small. The bracelet is okay for the price and can be replaced by another strap. I would not buy that watch. Although I have smaller wrists I love my Duro.
The hands and the bezel are actually my favourite part of this 1053. I also enjoy the dial to bezel ratio. I can appreciate why someone would still go with the Duro though. It's got that classic appeal
If the bezel aligns well at the 12 o'clock it wouldn't really be an issue. But having to see that permanent misalignment is a reminder of the terrible amount of clicks 😂
The fact that they're only available on Amazon and obscure websites makes me suspicious. If Casio and official dealers don't stock models, I assume they're fakes. Where are all these Amazon sellers getting them from?
Looks a bit cheap, likely because of that screaming blue color and huge numerals. Duro is better looking in my opinion. However, I cannot see myself adding any of these two to my collection, even being cheap as they are simply because they feel cheap too.
I had one of these in white WITH the marlin logo, thought it would sell well.........There is in fact 5 marlins and I've owned em all. I think we fllw on Insta?
Man, my parents bought me this watch when i was finishing highschool. I am turned 30 this year, still works perfectly.
You confirm this watch is not a secret one! Ahhhh YT titles....
As far as I know, this model sold in some regions only, for some reason.

I like those kinds of stories.
I still wait for Casio to do Duro with solar, I would stupidly buy it
I'd love see an ana-digi Duro, with an appearance much like the old-school Casio Marine Gear.
A 40mm Duro with a solar movement would be great. But we'll probably get a 32mm Duro next with 30m 😂🙏
I’m still looking for “my” dive watch. This one is a bit blingy but your video - great!

I prefer the looks overall of the 1053, resemble to me the Orient mako 3, but the duro Design IS a Legend.
Yep, I definitely see some Orient influence.
Is the Duro a design icon or is the submariner styling the iconic element? I think it could be argued both ways
The Casio MTD 1010 was the best in my opinion, I wish they'd bring that back.
Thank you for bringing attention to the 1053. This may be what I was looking for, although I don't like the bracelet either. It actually looks better than the Duro, which has too much open space on the dial.
Small hands and indexes on the Duro.... Oversized on here 😂🤣 classic Casio having no middle ground isn't it.

Seems like a banger Kieran! Thanks for sharing! Hope you have a great weekend!
Thanks for watching mate. Hope you have a good weekend too 🙏
@@TopTierTicker Much love brother!
I ordered one today gonna upgrade the bracelet and for the price you cant go wrong.
Well spotted and cool review. Not a divers watch but check out the Certina DS Podium Chronometer, a quartz movement accurate to +/- 10 secs a year and waterproof down to 100m for about less than 500 notes.
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check it out 👌

INLOVE Mtd 1053d. It is the only Watch u need in all’ Your life
This casio is very similar to Longines HydroConquest Automatic Blue
I've got a Duro, which I really like, but this 1053 would've been a better fit for my wrist had I known about it at the time.
It's never too late 😉 owning both is the only logical thing to do anyway 🤣
Duro is my choice between the two.. Somehow I’m not uncomfortable in wearing it on my 6” wrist.. Leave Duro, I even like the biggest Casio in my collection- AE-3000 with its 57mm dial !!
Wow! You clearly have a preference for larger pieces, nothing wrong with that. Enjoy my friend 🙏
If they do it again with MTD-130D inner bezel it would closer to JLC Polaris Mariner. As it has already something of a JLC Master Compressor Navy Seals and also Blancpain Fifty Fathoms style.
LoL they definitely listened when we said smaller!
Yeppppp 🤣 I think they was just messing around with us to be honest
I’d say, I just found out you have two channels.
Indeed! I unbox the watch and give first impressions over on 'Talking Tickers' first :)
Had mine for 3 years , I wear it on a NATO , thinking of getting a nice silicone strap for it , was my main holiday watch untill i got a bright yellow Casioak
Definitely pick up a silicone for it. Maybe a yellow one? Make it a proper summer piece 👌 thanks for watching!
I have an old Japanese clock name Broman Moft .. Do you know about them and how much price
Where do I find one with numerals and blue dial?
The 1053 is nice but it looks too cramped, like they jammed as many number and dashes as they can in to that 40mm space. I still prefer the Casio Duro mdv-106 with the marlin.

Can you tell me about Legoss Watches! They look super nice. But im hesitant because the price point makes me think its super cheap. Im new to watches
I would
I'd love to see a smaller Duro on sale. I've had two of the originals and they're just too big - even 42mm would be preferable.
I agree. This certainly doesn't replace a 40mm Duro, it's still very much needed. But, it's a cool alternative 👌
@@TopTierTicker Do you think the quality is as good as the Duro? They always look like a far more expensive watch.
Casio, just release the 40mm version of the duro, what is so hard for you goddamn?! The 36mm is a total embarrassment.
I own it. Great cheapie.
Nice! Glad you enjoy it my friend. Thanks for watching 🙏
I think the 1053 looks much better. Im going to look into it tonsee if I'd like yo get one.
Nice! Thanks for watching
Put an Uncle Seiko bracelet on it.
Would they fit? That would be very cool
The oversize numerals remind me of a Breitling.
Classic neo-vintage Breitling! I see it. Cool shout 👌
That's nicer looking than the duro
Love my Duro and while the size is fine for me it does feel a tad heavy. And I like the design of this. The bezel alignment is annoying.
If the bezel aligns well at the 12 o'clock it wouldn't really be an issue. But having to see that permanent misalignment is a reminder of the terrible amount of clicks 😂
Not to hate but I don't get the point of a dive watch with a bad working bezel
Bezel still works fine. Doesn't really effect timing... Just an OCD thing
We need more solar casios
I don't think I've ever owned a solar Casio watch... Just a calculator. I'll have to try one soon
@@TopTierTicker taste the sun boy
Do you find that the "quartz" printed on the dial is unnecessary? By the seconds hand it's obviously a quartz watch
Good specs but the numerals are too big for my liking
It is still too soon for me to talk about GoT - just hurts too much even after all this time! Lol
Why can’t Casio make a 40 mm similar the original Duro Swordfish?
Man. 40mm x 48mm is ridiculous.
Really? Why'd you think that?
The fact that they're only available on Amazon and obscure websites makes me suspicious. If Casio and official dealers don't stock models, I assume they're fakes. Where are all these Amazon sellers getting them from?
Secret? I've had couple of those for months.
Well, why didn't you tell me about it sooner!?
@@TopTierTicker Good point 😅
The proportions of the bezel and dial feel bloated and cramped. Also the style is straight off the Orient Mako II.
Yeah for double the price
My friend, it takes one Google search... Come on. It's $60 max.
@@TopTierTicker 80$ on Amazon, regular duro 45$ on Amazon
No fish, no Duro
They missed the market by not making a 40mm
They'll make one eventually (I hope)
Crap watch, i bought one and within a few months the bezel was stuck.
Lol what!? Did you glue it down? 🤣 It's such a loose bezel, how the hell did it get stuck?
@@TopTierTicker I have no idea, it doesn't turn anymore.😂
Looks a bit cheap, likely because of that screaming blue color and huge numerals. Duro is better looking in my opinion. However, I cannot see myself adding any of these two to my collection, even being cheap as they are simply because they feel cheap too.
Hands are pissy too small. No thanks
It's not a Duro without the marlin. This is similar, but not a Duro.
I'm pretty sure the new Duro models don't feature the marlin? But I get your point 🙏
I had one of these in white WITH the marlin logo, thought it would sell well.........There is in fact 5 marlins and I've owned em all. I think we fllw on Insta?
