In 2008, the Japanese men’s relay team won their country’s first-ever men’s Olympic medal on the track. But after the first-place Jamaican squad forfeited their gold due to a doping violation, Naoki Tsukahara, Shingo Suetsugu, Shinji Takahira and Nobuharu Asahara moved up to silver.
Clean athletes are finally awarded their rightful Olympic medal following the disqualification of doped athletes: oly.ch/ttp_en

People have to remember, just because you don't win gold, doesn't mean you are not successful. The fact they even qualified to make a track team in the Olympics means they are one of the fastest men in the world. The fact they finish 6th or 4th or 2nd, proves they are among the fastest ever human beings to run in track, faster than 99.999% of the world.

@@Olympics It's truly an achievement and success just to even make it to the Olympics. Yes, they should all be honored for that accomplishment.

To all the athletes receiving this late satisfaction.
We understand that this can never replace the moment on stage that has been taken away from you.
But we are here, we watch and we respect clean sport.
Thank you for not letting the Olympics turn into a constructors championship by some doctors and companies.
Thank you for your determination, spirit and passion.

Same thing happened with Beckie Scott 🇨🇦 - twice. she was awarded Bronze at the games and the gold and silver medalists were eventually disqualified (at slightly different times), she held all 3 medals in the same event...

In world where this event is dominated by men with African origin, you have to recognise how bloody awesome the achievements of Japanese 100x4 team is over the years. Their baton changes are a treat to watch. Hopefully they can win a medal in Tokyo.

I feel more sorry for Trinidad and Tobago, who were cheated out of the gold and not able to listen to their national anthem being played, and Brazil, who were not able to receive their bronze medals at the ceremony at the Olympics!
