      The submarine was a failure from the start. First of all why was it built so small? Second why are things controlled with game controller? Pretty sketchy. Larger submersibles would be better equipped with all kinds of safety features. Not to mentioned powerful beams that would beam up so that emergency operations can sea the light. What about a location signal? Like an eperb? What about emergency inflatable bags that would carry the sub to the surface? Or why not connect the sub to a large ship and that way it can be pulled up? This should not be repeated if the right steps are taken. I do hope strongly they find them and rescue them before it’s too late.

    @559ways ปีที่แล้ว +872

    I am not being negative here; realistic.
    From what has been detailed, the ocean currents at 13,000 feet in depth, are very strong. They are so strong it has pushed and forced a submarine just like this one, in to the propeller of the Titantic where it got stuck temporarily.
    From what has been detailed, we learned the ocean visibility at 13,000 feet is O. It's pitch black. The submarine has a special lense that penetrates the dark spectrum of color and produces light however it's wave length is very narrow for visibility.
    What that means is, even if they can get a navy submarine down to 13,000 feet within the next 14-20 hours, it is unlikely they will spot the submarine especially if the ocean floor is throwing up particles and debris from the pure mass of pressure down there.
    People need to really be sensible about this they pretty much aren’t surviving this they’d be lucky if they find the bodies period & maybe this will probably bring to light some issues with companies doing this sort of thing and treating it like a carnival ride.

They will then take turns looking out of a 12 inch window to see a wrecked boat at a distance. While I have sympathy for their families, This was idiocy on so many levels. Nothing more than bragging rights at the rich boy's billionaire club. With so many people homeless and hungry, I would be ashamed to waste 250k to take turns looking at a wrecked boat through a small window. Vanity to the extreme.

      TechCrunch writes that the material OceanGate used to craft its ship was appealing because it “can be stronger and lighter than steel.” However, the material could also be “be prone to sudden failure under stress,” the outlet notes, and Lochridge worried that small flaws in the hull could hypothetically expand under the pressure of diving into the depths of the ocean. Lochridge suggested that the company conduct “critical, non-destructive testing of the experimental design of the hull,” but was repeatedly met with protestations from the company’s management, according to the lawsuit.
      At the meeting Lochridge discovered why he had been denied access to the viewport information from the Engineering department-the viewport at the forward of the submersible was only built to a certified pressure of 1,300 meters, although OceanGate intended to take passengers down to depths of 4,000 meters. Lochridge learned that the viewport manufacturer would only certify to a depth of 1,300 meters due to experimental design of the viewport supplied by OceanGate, which was out of the Pressure Vessels for Human Occupancy (“PVHO”) standards. OceanGate refused to pay for the manufacturer to build a viewport that would meet the required depth of 4,000 meters.

    Some other article says these people are "irreplaceable" lololol 😂 but if they werent rich then the article wouldn't have gone as far to say that. The search needs to be called off and our tax dollars used for something else. The next time some rich people want to go do something crazy there should be an additional fee that includes prepaid search and rescue costs for a min of 24 hours that covers all expenses to find them. I would guess the cost would be several millions of dollars but since they rich make them pay for it.
