If you want safer starts, no grids, no launch control, no traction control, allow riders to groom past the gate.
You’ll get a naturally staggered separation by eliminating the things that make them mechanically equal when you allow athleticism to separate them.

Quit complaining about track conditions. It's a risky sport, riders are going to crash. One rider crashes on the tunnel jump and it's a hazard, MX tracks are all hazards, it's a risky sport! The only safety issues are the flaggers and the tuff blocks. Everyone can run the scoop so, how is it a cheater tire? Not everything has to be controversial but, I know, it gets clicks.

I totally agree on the starts. As a hobby rider, I hate the starts personally...it's way too dangerous. And indeed to see the 2 or 3 points leaders shuffled randomly in any position after the first corner sucks.

This tire was an avantage for the start but a nightmare then on this hard slipery track. He still managed to win by a mile

Anybody can use that tire, so I just don't understand this question since it's been brought up... I can understand if riders had different tire sponsorship that other riders can't rock. But this is something that's a choice for any rider to slap on his fire breathing dragon. 🤔🤷♂️🤘
Progressive is a 50+ billion dollar company. There's no way they are running out of money. As for the MX14 iv said for over a year they need to ban that tire because of how bad it tears the tracks up.
I'll be in Vegas next weekend.... and every weekend and weekday after that too. :-) JH I'll keep an eye out for you at the race.
If you don't have a deal with Dunlop, you can't run that tire.

That’s the trend with tires now a days, even for cars. They designe them with a thread pattern for a specific terrain in mind but also play around with compounds and profiles to make it so it’s good all around. The Coop SST Pro and SST Max are a perfect example.
When carolli came to the USA a few years back to race when dungey came back he was running it and that was the birth of this tire in the ama, this cup design I use to flip my tires around in just about anything with a tire to gain the advantage

My thoughts on that tire is it’s a great hole shot tire, but you have to alter the way you ride the rest of the race because of it and that’s kind of what was he Inferring when he was on the podium talking about the tire last week I think he was on a different tire and he was not getting the whole shot but he was fast on the track came from way back to win. It was just easier this week. But harder to control OK, thank you Johnny great show
If not for the starts, at most tracks, riders would choose another tire.
I think it was also Elis ( pardon the pun ) Achilles heel in moto 2.

Yeah Johnny, I also don't agree with the whole cheater tire narrative. Everyone can run it if they want to. It adds to racing in my opinion. Either gain that little bit of speed and ride that mofo on the edge of destruction, or lose that slight forward drive and feel comfortable on the bike.

Sand tire is not a cheater tire… also wrong that it’s good on hard pack!!! When the surface gets hard that tire sucks for cornering and chances of going down is way greater than a regular tire! Face jumps as well.

Deegan is 2 as good as best 2nd place rider. The others cannot keep up with that pace. Deegan could go to 450 class and win races right now. Deegan can beat Jett in a race no problem

Riding a Star Yamaha is far more legal cheating than the rubber that’s available to everyone, but I get why you put it that way. For half that track it would have better to run a literal super moto tire lol, so hard packed you could probably smoke a tire on it ;)
450 moto 1 was even better in person. Tomac reeled in the Lawerence boys fast on a track that his rear tire shouldn’t have worked. Deegan is just on another level. I seen not one moment or mistake. Pretty amazing for the conditions.
I think that after next weekend they need to combine the top 15 out of 250 and 450 for a winner take all race

Some of my favorite races are when they do get a bad start & have to make their way through the pack.
Just run the cheater tire with a softer mousse. This way it rolls and conforms on the hard pack.

Last I’ll say about the paddle tire, because I know what you were trying to say. The paddle is a “cheater tire” on the start, but it struggles everywhere else on the track. They talk about that on the broadcast all the time. Deegan still managed to run a 1:13 the first moto. Which is why his win was so impressive. Dudes didn’t run the paddle, even though it would give them an advantage on the start, because it wouldn’t perform as well on the actual track. That track was stupid sketchy. Deegan did a post race track walk video and it was completely destroyed. The rhythm was essentially concrete. Anyways, keep doing you Johnny. In those live videos, say what you want and the hell with the comments. Everyone has an opinion, just like something else 👀 🤙🏻🤘🏻🙏🏻

I listen to your pc about weekly, I'm done, one thing I can't stand is fake news, as long as I've been involved and around MX racing, everyone can make their own choice of tire, sure this tire helps off the start, in loose dirt , but on a packed grooved track, it's risky, very risky in the turns, so, he had to manage the throttle correctly, so it was a risk he took off the start, get the start and then managed it the rest of the race, they also make a paddle tire that's much bigger for sand, I'm out, stupid topic!! And I did just hit, dislike, and blocked, I prefer getting correct info, not this b.s.

There's a very good reason why virtually nobody runs that tire and the reason is because it's a huge disadvantage on most of the track . Sure it may help you out of the gate but otherwise it's terrible . If it was such an advantage it would be prohibited , it's really just that simple .
