Thanks for putting this video up. The ESU instructions are utter rubbish. Great product with terrible support. If it has a decoder on it i assume that can be read like a loco decoder ? i fried my light strip trying to read cv1 and ive no idea what i did wrong.

Hi, The decoder is just like any decoder, changing its DCC address etc can be done, so if your DCC has the address of 1 it can be changed to the default of 3, or any address you like.

@@SimonLivertonCentral thanks for replying - appreciate that. Tried writing to cv1 from my ESU controller and it just said no loco detected. Perplexed LOL.

@@SimonLivertonCentral Hi there, thank you very much for the video. Very well explained. I have done everything you mention in the video, but I have the same issue as @Jimbo Junior when trying to program the decoder.
When I am trying to set up the value of CV 1, my ECoS command station detects a reading error and it doesn't find any value, which as per default should be 3. As I have more ESU lights in other coaches, they all function at the same time, as the ECoS command is not able to find the corresponding value to CV 1 during the reading process. Do you have any suggestion to solve this problem? Thank you very much again

In your other coaches can you read CV1 of the lighting strip? How are you applying power to the lighting strip, sometimes command stations cannot read decoders if the power to the strip is insufficient. Normally reading and changing CV values is straight forward...Simon

@@SimonLivertonCentral thanks for your prompt reply. Unfortunately I can't read any of them. All the coaches I have are fitted with ESU ES50707 current collector and they take the power directly from the rail. Do you read the CV1 from the program DCC Setup 2? Thank you Simon. I really appreciate your help
