Nice little guide @cobuman. For anyone that is looking at this, I can confirm that the Gigabyte 1650 low profile works perfectly in the HP EliteDesk G2.
I put a 1650 low profile from main and it works great right now I just need to get a vga cable for the system so I can get into bios but other than that I confirm it is great too
I just transferred my HP Elitedesk 800 G1 to an old HP Pavilion case, added a gtx 1650 and I'm playing Forespoken right now. Extra things I had to do: 1.) Remove the power switch and lights from the front cover button, insert into the from cover of the Pavilion. 2.) To use my Elite desk cooling fan, I had to find some nuts that fit on the bolts in the fan too attach it to the mother board. The Elit desk mother does not have built in nuts. The fan bolts into the case. It ain't pretty but works like a champ.
Actually, you still can fit in the full height graphic card into that SFF chassis. First, you need to take off the output backplate of the graphic card. Then with some minor adjustment and little help from two small metal plate and metal glue, you can create holders to put the graphic card horizontally (fan faced down). Then you connect the pcie 16x connector to the graphic card using pcie 16x riser cable.
@@Cobuman unfortunately I don't have it. But several months ago I watch on Linus Tech channel, he is doing the same way with Dell Optiplex. And on Tech Yes City channel, Bryan replaced the HP Prodesk 600 G1 SFF chassis with mid tower and he is using a full height graphic card (RX 470 4GB with 6 pin power connector) to HP 240W power supply. And it works perfectly.
@@mankdhanichannel Right, that's not a full size gpu in SFF case. :) He moved everything over to a larger case. I actually made a video on that as well: th-cam.com/video/C70nmtTFPuw/w-d-xo.html
@@Cobuman Yes, but it is possible to put full size graphic card into SFF case horizontally. You can try that by yourself if you have the card and the riser cable. I did that on my previous PC, Lenovo ThinkCentre M73 SFF with Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 550 2GB (no extra pin connector required). The space to put it horizontally using 20cm riser cable was very tight so I don't need to make the holder. And it works perfectly fine. I don't have problem with the airflow and the temp is normal. I think for HP Prodesk 600 G1, the space to put the gpu card horizontally is quite larger since the CPU fan design is front-faced and using smaller fan compared to my Lenovo SFF so you need to create simpe holders to prevent it moves around from its place.
When you say it won't fit without considering the power of a good dremel and hacksaw. You can make most non extended pcb gpu's fit if you really want em to :p

great video i just wanted to know if we can remove the alert screen every time we boot the pc that the frontpanel usb is disconnected because it gets annoying sometimes to click space bar every time i open my pc
Thanks! In bios there should be an option called "halt on errors", that may remove it. I usually just put the computer to sleep rather than shutdown because it's faster to login.
I bought a Gigabyte GTX 1650 LP for my HP Elite 800 G1. Is it normal for the temp to be around 185-190F under load? Are there ways to help with cooling on these small form factors without upgrading to a larger case? Thank you so much!
Yea, it's a small case and adding that GPU creates even more heat as you know. Without modifying the case which could allow for another fan to be installed... I suppose the only thing you can do is see if temps go down with case open.
@@Cobuman I had actually opened the case and used a living room sized Vornado fan on the highest setting to blow air directly on the GPU. The temps only went down about 3-5 degrees.
I used HP elite 800 G1 with i-7 4790 16gb ddr3 ram psu came with it isn't ATX(which sucks but fixable) with 320W and i put in it 1650 Super which came out last month at 160$ needs 100W just for a GPU so yeah 6pin connector i had to use adapter to get power through SATA sockets (pci-e only up to 75W). I will be honest i was a little worry it might not work out but i made a bet with a friend that i will build PC on 400$ budget that will run any game on high 60 fps+ on 1080p and i was not confident with GTX 1650 that came out in april and only needed 75W and no 6 pin connector obviously buy perfomance 20-25% less also had GDDR5 vs GDDR6 on it so i gave it a try and got HP Elite 800 G1 Tower used from ebay (210$) 1650 super (160$) extra 8gb ramm (23$), tower came with only 8gb, 6pin to 2sata connector (6$) so 210+160+23+6=399$ and guess what i got over 20 newest games on my 2 TB HDD not a single one showed less than 60fps on ultra setting with 1080p. I haven't try it 1440p or 4k but whole system actually cost me 299$ after i collected 100$ from my friend. 1650 Super says 350W min recommended i gamed hours and benchmark it many times it is quiet and 320 just pull it fine also besides 2TB HDD i got 120GB SSD and DVD-RW on a system. Only thing i hear is my HDD. Just thought i should share it. No lieing gaming PC under 400$
i have made ventilation holes above the GPU due to overheating its the GTX 1650 LP. is it good to put ventilation holes above the CPU side, above the RAM slots precisely. taking into account that the CPU fan intake is on the ram slot side. any comments in the idea?
Just creating extra hole might will help with intake of fresh air; however, it depends where you put it because the ventilation works on vacuum. If you can install an extra exhaust fan that would be be best. Maybe on the side door/lid. Just be very careful when cutting metal if you decide to do it.
Would the RTX 3050 LP fit inside this case? And would you need to replace the power? I heard the RTX 3050 has similar dimensions to the GTX 1650 LP. I think its TDP is around 65-70 watts.
Do you recommend the 1650 low profile instead of this one? And as someone new entirely to pc gaming, do i need to install anything after plugging it in? Or do i just plug it in and it's all set?
I do, 1650 amzn.to/2qCucsj is definitely faster and it should be the same install. After you install the card download NVidia drivers and install software.

I just bought a 800 g1 and a graphics card From Amazon. Should I boot the system up, get it working, and shut down and install the graphics card? Or install before first boot and setup? Thanks

Hi. Thanks for this very informative video. I have on hp elitedesk 800 G2 with i5-6500 with 200W PSU. I wanted to put a good graphic. Your best suggestion is the GTX 1650 LP? Given that there are two fans, will I not have power problems? Can u share a link. because i see MSI, Gigabyte, Zotac, asus.. are all the same thing but diferent brands? Thanks in advance
Good question. This is the one I recommend to people: amzn.to/2vvHoBM It does have two fans but these newer cards are supposed to be more energy efficient. The older cards like 1050 with two fans did require extra power but still worked fine. Also, a few reviews from people that have a SFF like G1 or similar say it works perfect.
@@Cobuman G1 has 240w, so the extra 40w is the difference between using a 1030 (uses 35w) and the 1050 (uses 75w). I have a g2, so I think I'm stuck with a 1030 unless I buy a used HP G1 PSU.

I have a 800 G1 with i5 4590 and 240W power supply. I took the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1630 EX as reference, and it says it requires at least 300W power supply. I'm afraid the 240W from my power supply may not be enough, but I don't really want to buy another power supply just for the GPU. Is it ok to use the 240W power supply for the GTX 1660? And which one is better, the GTX 1660 or the GTX 1630 EX? The 1630 EX has 64 bit VRAM but is GDDR6.

i want to get you advice on 2 videos cards to put in my G2 ive already did the cpu upgrade and max it out on ram...i wanna put one video card in the 16X slot and the other in the 4X...im running 6 monitors
Sure thing. The main thing is to install a low profile video card otherwise it will not fit inside. That being said, the best LP card right now is the GTX 1650 like this (4 monitor support): amzn.to/2X9XWcm (there are 2 different types of Gigabyte as well, 3 monitor support and 4 monitor) I'm not 100% sure but I think the on-board monitor connectors will allow you to extend to 2 more monitors. Otherwise the 2nd pcie slot may need another low profile/low power card just for monitor extension. I'd say get one video card and see if you can make it work with 6 monitors first.

Most of the 3d design programs mainly support Nvidia Cuda cores for acceleration which is something I would recommend. With this PC the best nvidia card you can buy in "low profile" is GTX 1650 like this: amzn.to/2G3hF5l . If you only work on 3d graphics and animation the best workstation cards would be the Quadro series however we are talking about super expensive stuff. If money is tight you can go down to GT 1030 amzn.to/2R8wGJC and still see a big improvement- but forget about gaming, it will not be a great experience.
@@Cobuman What about the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB Windforce Graphics Card? Does this card have lower acceleration than Cuda cores? Sorry my computer hardware knowledge is very low.
@The Gamer Boii No, You will get low fps with 1030. FPS goes down even more when streaming because CPU has to do video decoding which is demanding. If you can afford a better graphic card it will make a big difference. Like 1650 low profile: amzn.to/30zcUdl
Good question. CPU and GPU work together to run a program/game. Some parts of the program are handled by CPU; for example, loading of data and in some case handling of physics calculations. Other parts are handled by GPU; usually processing of graphics/visual data as fast as possible so you see it on your screen (fast moving pictures). Also, it depends where the bottleneck is created; sometimes CPU is too slow to keep up with loading of how fast GPU can processes graphics/visuals. On the other hand GPU can be too slow to process loaded data from CPU. In any case presented a slow down is created. *Generally speaking what you want is a CPU that is fast enough to handle any GPU which typically is not that high spec at all. For example i5 CPU is good enough... after that it's up to GPU on how fast it can work.* I hope this makes sense.
thanks Thomas, any 1650 lp should work fine. Some models may require additional power but you can get an adaptor for it (SATA to PCIE). These cards normally cost around $180 but now days it's super over priced... If you can get a good deal go for it; but otherwise I would not pay double the normal price. I hope that helps.
@@Cobuman Are you sure the GTX 1050 won't draw too much power? This model only has a 200W proprietary PSU. Would swapping out the HDD for a SSD and disconnecting the DVD drive make it possible? HP's website says that the GPU draw should be 35W or less but a GTX 1050 LP uses more than 35W. It might not be an issue until you fire up a game and your PSU gives out.
Most people don't have any problems with oem psu. But, you might as well buy a GTX 1650 Low Profile for same money but a lot faster... like this: amzn.to/3dOoDK6

Any recommendation to remove those? thx for the vid regardless
If the bracket is taller then it's not a low profile bracket. If the card you bought is advertised as low profile then it should have a 2nd bracket to swap out.
Like this? amzn.to/2nb2JMk It shows to be low profile so it should fit fine; however, keep in mind the length of this card 6.6" (168 mm) by measuring available space inside the case (gtx 1050 is 167mm which makes me think it will fit). Height should be fine though.
Hey hi! I recently purchased the HP EliteDesk 800 G2 and my plan was to upgrade from the Nvidia NVS 310(yeah, shitty ass gpu) to the Radeon RX480. I am very new to everything hardware and software related, so if I may ask, would the tower case and power adapter you recommended in the description, be a good match for the upgrade I'm going for? Thank you so much, in advance, for your response :)
Yes if it is "low profile" and not "mini" there is a difference... The only reason I'm saying it like that is because I can't find any GTX 950 that are LP type... only mini.

Actually, you still can fit in the full height graphic card into that SFF chassis. First, you need to take off the output backplate of the graphic card. Then with some minor adjustment and little help from two small metal plate and metal glue, you can create holders to put the graphic card horizontally (fan faced down). I think for HP Prodesk 600 G1, the space to put the gpu card horizontally is quite larger since the CPU fan design is front-faced and using smaller fan compared to my Lenovo SFF so you need to create simpe holders to prevent it moves around from its place.

Is a new power supply or upgraded colling system recommended?
Depending on how much power the new GPU is using. The power supply is either 200w for G2 or 240w for G1.
No lieing gaming PC under 400$
I believe it. Sounds like you did a good job. Thanks for sharing. 👍😁
Could you edit vide with one of these computers?
i have made ventilation holes above the GPU due to overheating its the GTX 1650 LP. is it good to put ventilation holes above the CPU side, above the RAM slots precisely. taking into account that the CPU fan intake is on the ram slot side. any comments in the idea?
Just creating extra hole might will help with intake of fresh air; however, it depends where you put it because the ventilation works on vacuum. If you can install an extra exhaust fan that would be be best. Maybe on the side door/lid. Just be very careful when cutting metal if you decide to do it.

Would the RTX 3050 LP fit inside this case? And would you need to replace the power? I heard the RTX 3050 has similar dimensions to the GTX 1650 LP. I think its TDP is around 65-70 watts.

I just bought a 800 g1 and a graphics card From Amazon. Should I boot the system up, get it working, and shut down and install the graphics card? Or install before first boot and setup? Thanks
Correct, boot it up to make sure everything is working first. Let it stay connected to the internet for a while to get updates. Download driver package for your graphics card. Afterwards, shutdown/install the GPU; then install download GPU drivers.

Good question. This is the one I recommend to people: amzn.to/2vvHoBM It does have two fans but these newer cards are supposed to be more energy efficient. does the cpu affect how much the graphics card will perform or does it work on its own
Good question.
For example i5 CPU is good enough... after that it's up to GPU on how fast it can work.*
I hope this makes sense.

thanks Thomas, any 1650 lp should work fine. Some models may require additional power but you can get an adaptor for it (SATA to PCIE). Hi, will a Geforce GTX 1650 fit an Elite desk 800......I'm hoping I haven't ordered the wrong part......
Is it low profile?, if not it will not fit
it IS a low profile card@@Blayzuli
Would it be possible to fit an Radeon AMD Pro WX4100 into one of these base units?
Like this? amzn.to/2nb2JMk It shows to be low profile so it should fit fine; however, keep in mind the length of this card 6.6" (168 mm) by measuring available space inside the case (gtx 1050 is 167mm which makes me think it will fit). Height should be fine though.
Hey hi! I recently purchased the HP EliteDesk 800 G2 and my plan was to upgrade from the Nvidia NVS 310(yeah, shitty ass gpu) to the Radeon RX480. I began hooking it up only to realize my tower is quite literally 3cm too small to fit the upgraded GPU. I am very new to everything hardware and software related, so if I may ask, would the tower case and power adapter you recommended in the description, be a good match for the upgrade I'm going for?
Thank you so much, in advance, for your response :)
Yes, the PC in this video is 800 G2.
Would a Low-Profile GTX 950 fit this system?
Yes if it is "low profile" and not "mini" there is a difference... The only reason I'm saying it like that is because I can't find any GTX 950 that are LP type... only mini.
Will a rx 560 fit??
I have this exact pc. My dad give me GTX 2060 as a birthday gift. afaik this gpu need external power. So, can I change my psu to something better eg. Corsair or SuperFlower psu?
Please reply me cobuman..
That's a nice gift. Here is my video on external power: th-cam.com/video/tj2ws0mTm6E/w-d-xo.html
Do be careful when doing this. 😁
I put in a Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1050 TI OC
In The computer but when i start it up the start Button just flashes red, any help would be grateful thanx
Is it the single fan or dual fan? If dual fan it may need extra power connector (at the end of the card there might be 4pin or 6pin connector).
Also, if still not working try taking it out and see if the computer starts up without it.
hi do you think elite 800 g1 ( 2014) with Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4570 CPU @ 3.20GHz, 3201 Mhz, 4 Core(s), with 16GB RAM will be compatible? thanks!
With video card upgrade? Yes, it should be fine. The best upgrade is GTX 1650 LP like this: amzn.to/2ZvxfBp
Thank
🙏
Hello there cobuman, just wondering how long the video card that you inserted was? I have the same pc and im looking to buy a video card. The gt 1030 low profile seems pretty long even though it is a low profile card. Like it might not fit in the pc? Thanks.
My other option was the MSI Computer GeForce GT 710 low profile card. This one is smaller than the gt 1030 low profile. Thanks again.
These PC fit video cards up to GTX 1650 LP. So, if you look at the people feedback on 1030 you can see it fits a variety of SFF computers as well: amzn.to/2L1IMQV
Don't buy 710 it will be dreadfully slow in comparison.
@@Cobuman Thank you.
@@limespyyt6208 Sure thing. 👍
@@CobumanI just found out that the gt 1030 is 172 mm and the one you inserted is 160mm. So how much space is between the edge of the computer/where you remove the extra PCIe slot and anything else?
Would the MSI GEFORCE GTX1050TI 4GB OC V1 VIDEO CARD fit?
Looking at the gtx1050 is the IO shield not to large for the sff pc? I am stuck on this and dont think these suggested cards will actually fit?
Try GTX 1650 like this: amzn.to/2uqmgfp
Look at the bottom image and you will see that it comes with low profile shield (bracket).
Does the GTX 1650 work on the HP EliteDesk G2?
As long as it's a low profile card it should work.
