I got the chance to use one of these at a motor race yesterday and was super impressed with the tracking - better hit rate for sharp images than my Sony a7riii and the reach you get from relatively small lenses is ideal for that subject.

All this nonsense about a ‘tiny’ sensor I wonder whether some of the people who mock have ever used one? I own an EM1 mkii and the image quality and their pro lens are fantastic - I’ve used an apsc before and also still own a D800 which is a great camera but big and bulky and the whole benefit of Olympus is the ibis - I hardly ever use tripods - by hand holding below 1/15 of a second it allows you to keep the iso really low for photos. The tech inside is still ahead of most comparable priced cameras and you can comfortably carry them anywhere and in any weather conditions . Of course you can just collect lots of lens and never shoot and discuss physics but in the real world they’re still great cameras. This particular model is however designed for a specific market and I’m not sure how it will compete but stop bemoaning mft cameras if you’ve never owned one!

It was pointed out to me in a forum recently that the current 20mp M43 sensors are now performing as well for IQ as Canon's admittedly rather dated but still popular among professionals, 5Dii - according to DXO mark. That is really something.

Have been following the reviews and comments about the new Olympus and Canon cameras and to a lesser extent the Nikon Z cameras. The comments are not only harsh many are dripping with venom that one usually only sees in politics. I lately find myself wondering how many of these people even take pictures. @digiDirectAustralia  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

The E-M1 III inherits many of the main features from this camera, but not all. Notably some of the more advanced autofocus AI tracking features are still only available in the E-M1X, so it's still top dog there. It also has the built-in grip, which gives it better battery life and makes it easier to hold for those who like larger cameras - although the size could also easily be seen as a downside vs. the E-M1 III depending on your priorities.

Old vid but anyone not sure what mp they actually need only needs about 8 to 10mpx. Many sports shots back in the early 2000s were shot on 2 to 5mpx cameras like the Nikon D1 and only had 5fps with no IBIS and no lens stabilization. Images were printed in magazines, newspapers and other publications as well as used on billboard's.
High mpx is only going to benefit a shooter looking to crop a lot like a product photographer or fine art photographer. Most imperfections seen on a computer screen won't show up in print the same way.

I used the Olympus E-M1 Mark II for a while for Wildlife together with the excellent Olympus 300mm 4.0 PRO. Now I sold all the Olympus gear. Why? Because for my type of Wildlife work the MFT system is simply not useable. The IQ starts falling apart above ISO 800, I am sorry but if someone insists on this is not true then he does not know what "Feather Perfection" means in bird photography. It means that even from a distance you can capture the details of feathers on a bird. And with any MFT system noise is becoming an issue quickly when the light becomes poor - and this is a normal scenario in bird photography as you either take pictures early in the morning, later in the afternoon or in forests where general light is not good. Plus, and that may be an Olympus issue, the Autofocus (continuous tracking) really, really sucks. This is my 5 USD recommendation, if you are serious into Wildlife, hands off the MFT system. Not useable. And this Olympus E-M1X, I am sorry to say, this is a bad joke - for this price you get way better cameras for Wildlife: the Sony A9 is not far away from this price.

Do want to point out that one 20 MP camera is not the other. You can see a clear difference (image quality-wise) between this E-M1X and the Canon 1DX2 at ISO 200. BTW I'm assuming there's no difference regarding the image quality between this one and the E-M1 II. Check www.dpreview.com/reviews/olympus-om-d-e-m1-mark-ii/8

Camera companies think they have a huge hook with their lenses. Once a customer has a set of lens, they tend to be interested in bodies that allow them to use their lens. Companies know this and release new bodies with small changes in hopes of their base buying the new model. But he E-M1X has gone overboard and entered the stupid end of the pool. Olympus does not know its place in the world with a MFT sensor. For less money, photographers can buy a Sony full frame camera with superior specs. Who wants to lug around this 2 lb camera? Olympus is hoping their installed base, in a drunken stupor, buys this POS because its mount will use their lens. Even Panasonic sees the handwriting on the wall and will release a full frame camera. Photography is a shrinking market because of the inroads of smart phones so the number of camera companies must shrink. In creating the E-M1X, Olympus is saying "pick me" for the extinction list.

It should be understood that the 4-3 Micro is the FULL FRAME Format so as is the 35mm or LEICA Format. The
professional photographers should KNOW this! The guy in this clip does not show that he does not
understand FORMATS or is not aware of this! This is a grammar in understanding of the "formats in photography". The only non
full frame is not APS- C and APS- H formats in photography.
