Hi Hailey 👋🏻 I've just posted a tutorial on my channel, explaining how to make pictures sharper, the proper way. It would mean the world if you could check it out 😊
I loved how you offered the photos for us to download and practice on at same time watching this video. You made it easy to follow as you went along and if did not catch, just went backwards easily to area I missed and proceeded. I even wrote down the steps to practice further on. I thought it was an excellent presentation especially for someone who knew very little about the different processes you use. Great job!
Thanks for this tutorial! I practiced along with you on my own photos and it was easy to folllow your instructions. I learned how to use the sharpening tool and High pass, which will be very useful. You also show your screen close up so I could see even the small icons, texts and details. Good job!!
Thank you for taking the time to make this tutorial. I don't know why there are haters. I followed pretty well until the high mask part and then my brain got tired. I'll watch that part again! I always wanted to learn more about the unsharp mask so thank you!
The best you have done. I felt you were teaching with come explanation without just running through a process which is what I have noticed in some of you other tutorials.Well done. Be a good teacher as well as the outstanding photo editor as you have demonstrated. Thanks for this powerful explanation of this sharpening aspect of editing.
Went through the lesson twice with one other presentation between. Impressed about the amount number of ways presented and the detail in each way presented.
I gave a thumbs up and I subscribed because you really explained and demonstrated different methods in sharpening the image in a very simple and concise way.
One of the best tutorials I've watched, practiced with, and put into play. Great demo using the unsharp mask, high pass, and sharpening tool. Thanks for the excellent presentation and the images to work with!
About the Camera RAW editing... You can do it in CS6 as well. You just have to get to it a bit differently. Instead of selecting 'Open,' select 'Open as...' You select your jpg or other file, and then choose 'Camera RAW' from the dropdown in the pop-up window. From there, it's identical to what you were doing.
Thank you very much. It is really good. Learned a lot kind of feelings and it works well. Simple narrative, easy english --Not too much technical, explained patiently properly throughout, especially pulling out different images. Classic.
Thanks for the informative video, Kelvin :-) It's nice to have all the methods I already use combined in 1 video. I learnd along the way watching many many artists and their creative process. From you I learned something new using the "raw-tool"-method. The mask is a really good trick. As well as learning how to apply sharping only to the midtones (not blacks/whites). That was an eyeopener for me!! May I suggest a tweek to your "High Pass"-Method? You might want to try "soft light" instead of "linear light" - in my opinion, it's smoother. Furthermore I learned over the years, to watch the preview wile increasing the radius for the moment, the edges get somewhat white. Thats probably the max you can set to keep the picture natural looking. (Only to let you know: Further on it gets the look often used by hip hoppers or such for their special look and feel.) Keep up the good videos and tutorials. And once again: Thank you very much for sharing :-)
Great Video!!! Thanks a lot for going through all the methods to sharpen. I just started photoshop and your videos are great tutorials. I've also purchase your photoshop101, but have to say these video's are great additions.
great video, it covered all of the sharpening bases and the fact that your key strokes showed, also helped me a lot. Just wish I knew how you open up finder while you are inside PS as I am new to Imac!
Really good tutorial! you are clearly skilled and a good teacher! Keep up the good work! You´re helping a lot of people with editing in Photoshop that is so essential when you´re taking pictures!
thanks for the video. cc has also added "texture" which helps to sharpen as well. i do real estate photography and like sharp images. the images are usually viewed in their entirety in the mls, so rarely at 100%. also, often walls are one light color. the raw filter mask helped a great deal. thanks again
Kevin, Great video - amazing what can be achieved with a little knowledge. Can you please advise how you get the red tip when you are sharpening the leopard etc? Tx Phil
Lots of information. Thanks for sharing. Great video. There are a few places where your voice drops off and I had to rewind several times to get what you were saying (looking where your cursor was going...) But I really appreciate the information.
Great tutorial Kelvin. The information about the Sharpen Tool was very informative and I don't understand why more Photoshop tutorials are not talking about this tool. Is there any reason that you didn't talk about Smart Sharpening ? Thanks.
This video is amazing. Thank you so much! Subscribed! What sharpening technique or combination of techniques do you recommend for sharpening a somewhat blurry portrait photo? I have a portrait that is soft and it is noticeable when compared to my other tac-sharp photos.
The CC part was nice, don't have to have lightroom for that, knowing the camera raw menu. Unfortunately my CC 2015 doesn't read raw files even after trying to install the plugin. This video is full of little things that are off topic but really convenient. Like the quick keys for zoom in (no idea why scroll wouldn't work for zoom) and space bar to move the pic. The use of smart objects, hipass, blend, the use of brush with those filters etc. The lab color reminds me a lot of s-video signal with brightness and colors separated.
man you have definitly helped me. no one else on youtube has expained sharpening techniques as well as you. thank you. very relieving.
I know right! Total life saver :D
