This is brilliantly written...song seems to reflect transitional phases of development of bluegrass, in three parts: First the almost medieval Celtic/Irish roots...sounds like something from a jousting festival 1000 years ago. Second , the fiddles come in, and we are in backwoods Kentucky. Third, a more modern bluegrass riff ...country music influence with guitar. All while original riff floats through the phases. Simply brilliant. Savio should be teaching a class on music structure at Julliard.
Slemish mountain is in County Antrim outside Broughshsne village , Not only where St Patrick first lived in Ireland but also the area around it lots of Ulster Scots immigrated from there in 18 century and fought in the revolutionary war . Especially the Carolinas .
Funny, a family in Alabama kinda playing Irish music, sorry have no knowledge of music from Alabama. In Ireland the players meet in each other’s homes or in the pub and learns each other’s tunes. Myself I play rock guitar. But I lived with an all Ireland concertina player when in university. Many evenings after the library I came home to a ceili, - live music and dancing, in the kitchen. Loved it. Keep enjoying the music and playing it together!
I was thinking the same thing these kids are incredible and the emotion they put into their music would be translated well into that song but I love the blue grass folklore music they are playing
Last mandolin riff has a few drawn out chords...hint of modern rock/ electric guitar era influence....very subtle. Fits in nicely as part of last bluegrass phase. My compliments,Savio.

Swami SAYS, the "forest" (and newly introduced "porch/yard" ambiance) really add to the AUTHENTICNESS of this "minstrel" style of your pieces. Swami SAYS, y'all seemed to be more comfortable/confident in this one, even in light of the fact that it was shot two years ago. Swami SAYS, the new "more polished" setup (with the set and the more advanced production equipment) are also good, but take out some of the ORGANIC-ness of these earlier pieces. Swami SAYS, both of the performances are solid, yet it would be nice to see if you could reach a "balance" between the more "polished" and the more "natural" - for instance, the more advanced recording setup, but outdoors. Swami SAYSA, well done, regardless... #SwamiSays
